  2. This was posted on DCI's facebook page...Shaun is here to help the activity. Could your corps or school program use a financial boost? If you need extra support and funding for your school's music program or drum corps, contact Shaun Canon's manager, Jeff Arcio: USAbooking@liveformusictour.com. Shaun Canon is doing benefit concerts for music programs all across the country, raising 10s of thousands for struggling programs! He also workshops with your students to motivate and inspire them, and give them an opportunity to PERFORM WITH HIM on the big stage. He only has a FEW SLOTS left for his tour, so contact his manager ASAP!
  3. Shaun Canon is very aware of the comments both positive and negative on this forum. He is a great guy with a huge heart. He truly wants to help fund music education projects at a level DCI has never seen anyone else step forward to do. He asked on Saturday night if there were any drum corps that he could help out with benefit concerts. He asked how he could do more to expose people to the marching arts. He is committed to helping this activity. Why don't we let him?
  4. DCI is definitely in the business of being profitable. Non profit is a tax designation, not a business strategy.
  5. Take a look at the great exposure for drum corps on Blue Man Group's Facebook page with 625,000 fans. https://www.facebook.com/bluemangroup
  6. They are in exhibition. Each corps will play an instant encore after their competitive performance.
  7. There hasn't been a show in Bloomington/Normal for two years now. BOA moved their summer symposium to Muncie, IN so it's still and event with tons of HS students in attendance.
  8. The girl jogging in this clip...her iPod is ENORMOUS!!
  9. DCI doesn't rent the theaters. Their partner with Fathom Events to distribute the broadcasts to theaters that opt-in to presenting the show. There is a revenue share program that is split between DCI, Fathom and the theaters. The only cost to DCI is production.
  10. Do you know that there is a free 2011 Finals highlights broadcast going on right now at www.dci.org?
  11. That is NOT true at all. Melinda, You need to stop spreading rumors and false information. It makes you and your corps look bad.
  12. Phantom now has housing. Mods, can you close this thread?
  13. You're really not helping by stirring the pot and pointing fingers at anyone. Unless you have some specific experience in securing housing sites, i'd suggest you don't make any more calls and leave this up to DCI's housing manager. You may be stepping all over what he's trying to do to solve the issue.
  14. DCI selling corps logo merchandise is part of their co-branded program they offer to corps. It's a revenue share situation that does benefit the corps.
  15. Mobile.dci.org Works on all mobile phones.
  16. Preview the DCI Fan Network this weekend. This free trial weekend, a first for the Fan Network site which made its debut in 2008, will kick off on Friday, May 27 with a “live” webcast of the 2010 DCI World Championship Finals. Starting at 12 p.m. ET, you can watch all 12 World Class Finalist corps, as they performed at Indianapolis’ Lucas Oil Stadium last August. 17. She has 131 MILLION Youtube video views and her song is being performed on one of the most popular shows on TV. I'd say she's doing something right!
  18. There are $10 tickets available for Finals. Must be an Indiana resident. Includes two free kids tickets with each $10 ticket purchased. A family of 6 could go for $20. So...seems like a good deal for someone who might get excited about drum corps at the free parade.
  19. Last year there were $10 seats to World Championships that included 2 kids free with each ticket purchased. Not sure it gets more affordable than that.
  20. It's still there. It's listed as Lebanon, IL on July 18. "DCI St. Louis" http://www.dci.org/schedule/detail.cfm?event=7d585d1a-8312-4aa0-8f3a-a647df50e72a
  21. You haven't been to finals in the past few years have you? There was an entire music festival last year aside from the drum corps show. This year, DCI is planning a big parade through downtown with 25 corps. Drive fans to shows on buses? Already being done with DCI's Road Warriors program. Bring younger kids in with special ticket packages? Being done with DCI's new group ticket program www.dci.org/groups. 65,000 fans at finals? There are only 10,000 really good seats. Everything else is a less than desirable experience if you're not near the 50. The Battle of the Bands plays to both sides of the Georgia Dome and uses sound reinforcement to help fans in the upper decks not miss a note. Have you ever been to the Battle of the Bands?
  22. Honda Battle of the Bands delivers a large segmented audience that appeals to Home Depot and Honda's diversity initiatives. Those sponsorships went through the VP of Diversity in each case. DCI has very little diversity, so that's not an option. Large crowds in one place? Maybe there's something to be said about playing to the audience and not judges as is the case at the Honda. Of the 65,000 that pack that place at around $10 a ticket...probably 90% have no ties to the marching band world. It's more a cultural event than a marching band show.
