  2. looks like we've got a fortune teller on our hands. they seem to be pretty abundant around here
  3. well i stand corrected. although i'm with homeboy earlier that made a comment about people wearing them in texas when it's 90 degrees
  4. don't know why anyone would need to wear a jacket in August... unless cali is having one frigid summer??
  5. i want to see a yearly swimsuit calander: "the girls of drum corps" anyone else in? (girls 18 and older, of course)
  6. Thank GOD! it's about time. although it would have been more convenient for it to break after tour was over. hope they replace it with a semi good show of class Cap Reg!
  7. Call Feidler!! The Cavaliers have been doing it wrong all along!! get rmurray74 in as a consultant asap to teach this corps how to do it right! maybe it's not that the members can't explain the technique....rather than they'd rather not explain it to an internet poster with an attitude.
  8. Correct! even more correct! if you ask the staff in the same manner you asked the board, you probably won't get an answer. but if you're nice about it, i'm sure someone will be happy to help you out. hope you get an "A" on the book report! p.s. it's not 'bicycle' steps.
  9. ok i guess i dont hang around enough to get this. who is this clown?
  10. alright you can have your G&T, but we drink rum down here on the coast
  11. hey Tsar! check out my sig......it's just for you!!
  12. maybe it did come across the wrong way, as i was typing the post in between a lot of work. i really don't want to discuss that issue anymore. i just want to know why you keep insisting that it's a phantom vs. cavaliers thing. actually, The Cadets is the first corps that i will reference to in regards to '21st century' style drum corps. i know there's some animosity for rosemont up there in rockford, but i never once made this out to be about those two corps. my belief is that, with regards to modern design, there are three groups: 1. BD, SCV, Cavaliers, Cadets 2. Coats, PR, G-Men, Boston, Crown, Madison 3. everyone else and i NEVER made an attack on marching members. i was once one and would never disrespect anyone who did what i did. but you see in football, if the head coach and his staff are not cutting the mustard, they get FIRED. i don't know why that principle doesn't apply in drum corps. it's okay for a member to say to himself "man we've got a couple of IDIOTS on staff this year. i hope they fix that so we can do better." and no reason to get that mad. its just a discussion bro. it's not life or death. let me buy you a beer
  13. well, i'll try to answer your question without stirring the pot. when i say 21st century, i don't mean playing music written in the 21st century. think of it this way, 1. when was the last time you saw a regiment show and said to yourself "wow, that's never been done before." 2. if you took the 2006 regiment show and implanted it into 1993, it would fit in perfectly. but if you put in say 2001 scv, 2000 cavaliers, or 2000+ cadets into 1993, people would freak out because it's too "progressive" (similar to how people reacted to star....it was ahead of it's time). personally, when i watch any 2000+ PR show, i feel like i am watching a show from the early 90's. the visual design is all stock charts that have been done for 15 years. the tempos are VERY 1990's. 3. phantom's shows seem to have the attitude of "here is our music. oh yeah there's some drill behind it." the two just don't seem to complement each other. most people are right. you can get the full effect of phantom's shows by listening to the CD's. and no, you cannot get the full effect of a rosemont, scv, or cadets show on CD. but this is drum corps international, not symphony and orchestra international. now on the other side of it, phantom has done some amazing things for the activity, and i applaud the organization and it's marching members. hope that helps
  14. no just changed email addresses and you can only register one screen name per email address. (never understood that) as far as the other stuff, thanks for the response. i said all i have to say, and i don't feel the need to get into a pissing match. and to clear things up, i wasn't directing my 'whining' comments at PR people, but rather 80% of 5th-8th place corps and their fans (moreso their fans and alumni rather than members). "well i'll have you know that THE phantom regiment placed second at drum corps international's world championships last year!" calm down kimosabe. that's great for PR. but for the latter half of the 90's and half of the 2000's, PR was a "5th-8th" corps, and somehow the fans and some members adopted the same "the world hates us cause we're so much better" attitude. for the longest time i was so sick of hearing g-men talk about how they were getting screwed by the scores. i mean, get real.
  15. is it a leg kick at the end of the show??!! :lolhit:
  16. this is the same old 5th-8th place corps mentality. "we didnt win the championship because (insert sad excuse and baby voice here)." we listen to the whining on tour, in the lots, on free days, then we must read it for years on the internet after we age out. simple fact: the cadets beat phantom. not because of some strange conspiracy, or momentum from the previous year. fact is, the cadets, cavaliers, and blue devils have been SMOKING PR for nearly 9 years now. why is anyone surprised? if PR really wants to win a championship, they could try moving their visual design and music selections into the 21st century? (oh yeah, and the overblowing thing too). if you want that championship, how bout you MAN UP, stop making excuses, and just do it.
  17. i wouldn't hold your breathe on that one. seriously...THANK GOD the blue stars changed the uni's. they were the eyesore of DCI (nothing personal) the bluecoats, now with their new logos, colors, and unis, look like a championship caliber corps, not a 14th place corps. bravo!
  18. DVD Decrypter was the absolute best program, but it has recently been shut down. check out these sites for more info and options: http://www.dvdhelp.us/dvddecrypter/dvddecrypter.html http://www.imgburn.com/ also....hint, hint......check out videora iPod converter for, um, iPod conversions
  19. it couldn't have been said any better, especially the second paragraph. i started out marching outside of the top 6, and it wasn't until after i went to another corps that i realized how much we were treated like children.
  20. well i guess i was lied to by a 4-year vet, and good friend of mine. i'll accept that because i assume you wouldn't make a comment like that without being able to back it up. well, personally, i think it's harder to keep a steady tone when you're winded from all 4 movements. but thats just me. i remember my marching days, and ANY set that was at a slow tempo, even if it was only 8 counts, was like a gift from the gods. i agree 100%
