The 2 girls in BD's snare line marched RCC last winter.

Bluecoats had a lot of Pulse kids the last couple of years. If PC makes finals this year, I hope the SoCal kids will stay home with PC starting next year.

Impulse was the start of a WGI drumline you might have heard of. Pulse Percussion.

Boston's battery book is much more difficult than BD's. Whether they get that spread is another issue.

Company fronts are a thing again.

Troopers battery is a step up from everyone previous.

Academy has cleaned the drill somewhat. Still a ways to go.

The PC tarp is actually really nice, without the glare.

Genesis has a very good hornline. If they can keep more of the Texas talent staying in state, i could see them making finals in the future.

PC has a legit chance of making finals. If they can keep cleaning that snare line and the guard work, we may just see them on Sat. night.

Mandarins marching really well for this early.

BK snare book is REALLY watered down. Even so, they were struggling with it in Rose Bowl lot. If they don't make finals, this will be why.

I placed it here because the show threads are the most relevant once the season starts. If people have actually spent the time and gas to watch a corps pre season, I would like to hear about it and this is most common place where people are paying attention now. This is the quickest way to build a picture of how the season is shaping up, rather than look thru 43 other threads where a lot of the info is months old. There are also discussions of weather in other states and alcoholic drinks in this thread. Should those not be here also because they are not about a midwest show?

Of course not. Just trying to develop the big picture as we head thru these shows up to Sat.

It's a heads up of what these guys tonite will compete against.

After seeing this show and seeing BD last night in Camarillo, it's looking like number 21. What a weird but incredible show. A lot of small pieces that don't seem related, but when you step back and look at the whole piece of art, it really does work, like the Cut Outs by Matisse? Scott is a genius, don't ever lose that guy. We'll see how they shake out against the other big boys and girls. This horn line might be their best ever. Could they have picked up the best half of Vanguard's hornline and added it to the best of last year's BD hornline? What a sound! Some of those baritone parts will blow your hair back (and that's in the last part of the show). I guess spring training at 12,000 feet does strengthen the lungs. For those who remember your high school french, you are in for a treat. The "both sides now" ballad is goose bump city. Joni Mitchell would be proud. I interpret it as Matisse creating art before and after he could still paint, i.e. "I've looked at life from both sides now". Drumline is way better than at this time last year. If they could push last year's line into 3rd, this year's line has even more potential. The guard is still a little dirty, but huge in size and potential (BAC will have some competition this year). Every guard member can really handle each type of equipment. To see all ~50 on flag, then saber, then rifle is really impressive. To see 50 sevens get thrown from the middle of a drill set is wow! Everyone gets to witness this on Sat.

A really good horn line can sell any style of music, which they clearly are. I like the mix of styles.

They are part of Bakersfield (community) College. Perhaps those numbers are for the entire college music dept. or the entire college? Unlikely they are spending that kind of money or have those kind of assets, with most of those years having about 10 local CA shows.

How about this. Cut the silver medals in half. Give one half to BAC and one half to Bloo. Then give the bronze to Crown. Or, if you don't like that one, how about the way the lottery gives out prize money? If 5 people have the numbers to get the 2nd prize, they still give out the prize money to all the people who had the numbers for the 3rd prize. What are they going to do with the bronze medals that say 2022 on them? Throw them away? Crown had the 3rd highest score, just give them the medals instead of throwing them away.

Sure, why not? These medals don't cost that much and the kids would appreciate it.

What the hell. Give the bronze to Crown anyway. They deserved it.

Its called peaking at the right time. Not so easy to do.

For the kids who marched Bloo and Pulse last winter, they won WGI and DCI drums within 4 months. Incredible. They'll never forget 2022.
