  1. Just curious but how many of the people mentioned in this topic attended George Park's Drum Major Camp?...just curious
  2. Are you referring to Scotty Poulson? If you are he was amazing!
  3. Fantastic!!! Welcome and wish you all the luck in the world...
  4. I'm one of those "couple of" who left. Moved from Sunrisers after 83 to Reading. Didn 't happen very often IIRC. No regrets though because it was the happiest time of my marching career.
  5. Keith..I'm surprised...you are not exactly a kid. How could you forget St. Joseph's of Batavia for New York. They were a real power house with a killer drum line. Top high drums in 68 VFWs. And who could forget Big Spender. Blew the house down.
  6. Would anyone object if I threw George Parks into the discussion? I know DCA but a real legend.
  7. Sorry for your loss Keith. I can relate. It wasn't my father but the person who got me into marching left us this past year. I'll always be grateful to Wayne - Fran Haring's brother in law- for getting me into a positive environment. If my Mother did today what she did back then, 1. I would have ended up in foster care, 2. She would have ended up in jail, 3. I would have ended up in jail. I'll always be grateful to Wayne. Marching changed my life. I am what I am today because I am a Crusader, a Sunriser and a Buccaneer. Sometimes a very simple question -your Father's Keith- can change a life. If my statements above are considered too personal I apologize. They are what they are.
  8. August 1967, Wayne Poulson -Fran's brother in law- asked me if I wanted to join a Drum Corps. My reaction was "what the hell is a Drum Corps". I was 12. Well I joined the Raiders of 88 in Highland Park New Jersey. My life was never the same after that. My 1st horn instructor was the legendary Tommie "Bucky" Swan. Need I say more?
  9. How The West Was Won. Do I have to mention the corps that played it? This was my WTF moment as in what have I got myself into?
  10. Looked and sounded pretty good..lol. Will we get retreat also?....I hope so.
  11. Okay...this is getting interesting. Breakdowns are going to be very interesting.
  12. Listening to an orchestral suite on Youtube of The Mission. All I can say is that he's a master. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3dLxy4jn_vI
  13. I simply don't know how they do it. Every year, year after year. I'm listening to the Main Theme from The Mission as we speak while typing. And now the scores.
  14. One of my favorite days....just love it. The beers are cooling, the pizza order is ready and my Michigan Wolverines are putting a whooping on Hawaii 35 nothing at the half. Go Bucs!!!
  15. I know it may be to much bitd and this is a DCI forum but Yankee Rebels 69 Requiem just blew me away. One of my favorite shows ever. Classic Truman Crawford charts. MikeD might remember. Honorable mention to Cadets in 71. People today can't imagine what courage it took to use a peace symbol in a show in that year. Mike did Tony "hicup" Schlecter threaten the corp with a substantial penalty for using a peace symbol? I believe he did. Imagine being threatened by peace. Sad, how very, very sad. George "Peace is our business, ex Strategic Air Command Jet Engine Tech, 376th Strategic Wing" Setzer
  16. hmmm...1976...fond memories. Gate 2 St, MA1A Alley, The Tennessee Club. Koza City, Kadena AB in the service of my country...lol. Sorry Okinawa Prefecture, Japan. Saturday nights were particuarly interesting....lol. Didn't see a drum corps show for 2 years.
