  1. This was Mark Petrash's first look at the Eastern corps this year. He has only judged a couple times out west (the last being about 2 weeks ago). Obviously, he wasn't impressed with Crown or the Cavies for some reason...every other brass judge seems to be :)
  2. Scores are in... Carolina Crown - 88.200 Holy Name Cadets - 86.850 Blue Stars - 83.300 Boston Crusaders - 82.500 Glassmen - 79.750 Crossmen - 75.500 Teal Sound - 76.850 Legends - 64.950
  3. Unofficial obviously... From one of the designers own mouth: "There are changes coming in the next couple of weeks...the show is about 75% complete right now." Let's see if it is enough to hold off the Blue Devils and HNC...
  4. I love how no one mentioned anything about the Crossmen's 2003 show. They opened it with "Somewhere over the Rainbow." No one had a problem with that, but now people rip into Crown for doing it. I know a couple of Cavaliers as well and we talked about Crown. Like others have said, they actually like the Crown arrangement. Obviously they like their own arrangement better (who wouldn't like their own better though?) but they couldn't care less that they are doing "rainbow." It's a great ballad and works well in their program.
  5. Phantom's hit wasn't coordinated with the announcer. That was all the drum major. He got the timing down right to hit the opening hit right after the announcer finished.
  6. Last year's ending was changed the last half of the season (roughly). Any corps will change something if they have something they feel is better to replace it.
  7. Keep in mind that this season started 3 days earlier than last. Doesn't sound like much, but BD went from a 79.800 on Jun 27 to a 82.200 just 2 days later. If you want to compare last years scores, you have to add 3 days (roughly) to the date to get a more accurate look at same points during the season.
  8. You can tell usually by who is rehearsing at the competition field the day of the event. For example, Crown is practicing at the Citrus Bowl for DCI Orlando (think they are giving a mini-clinic or something too) and are doing the encore, while PR is down in Kissimmee, Boston is in at the fair grounds, etc... Not always correct, but usually works for the smaller events.
