  1. Well stated. Any of the top four could win, and BD is doing serious catchup. BTW, BD did the same at the shows here in CA. Should be an interesting finish.

  3. Pretty simple. I am just wondering about the contest. thanks in advance.
  4. Wow, this one wins the recreational whining award so far this year. Or the best sarcasm that I have read. Not sure how to respond.
  5. sorry, i missed that as well. removed my other reply.
  6. A wiser person than I told me that BDB and SCVC could reasonably expect to be somewhere around Teal Sound. That jives with about 10-12 points. I would love to see better, but my expectations are not as high. Does kind of argue for Open and World being scored the same. Would make it a bit more like a sport.
  7. BD2010: Quite possibly my favorite show ever... Amazing music, in spite of the not playing tunes that are easily recognized. visually stunning, almost painfully clean, mirrors: unbelievable addition to the theme, etc... No way was another corp close. In spite of those that complain about how easy the show is, it is very demanding. BD2011: trailing, but I think that they are surprising a lot of people with their show. The music is fun, not dark like the last few shows. Perc line is pretty darn good, and they still have a lot of room to improve... Some of the other shows are so simple to get that it is kind of like watching or reading a mystery. Good once, but not so good after that. BD shows for the past few years have challenged the audience to watch them multiple times to really appreciate them. Of course detractors will never like them, but they are not really the target. BD remains on top of their game, and the other corps this year are on top of theirs as well. Best to all, A BD FAN, unashamedly, unabashedly and proud
  8. Cannot wait to see them. From what I can tell, they definitely should contend.
  9. I am a huge fan of BDB... But, SCVC, OC, and Spartans all should have a good chance.
  10. Well, first of all, we do lack the flaming nature of the other forum. We have fewer fans, and far more reasonable ones. I actually like the lack of people here acting like the world cannot exist without their expressed opinion. Furthermore, most open class corps have a lighter show schedule than world. In fact, some have already ended their season. That being said, DCI treats open class a bit poorly. IE Championships in Michigan City, then a travel day to Indy. We already had a thread that included what I think of MC, and I don't want to repeat it here, but even the organization does not treat Open with as much respect. Before anyone lets me know that there are large financial reasons, I understand them. DCI has made Indy their new home, except for Open Class. World is marketed poorly, but far better than Open. Try buying a Bluray or DVD from last year, or ordering one for this year. While I am at it, try watching Open class in a theater... The answer is that possibly you can see your corp on prelims, but after the champion is determined. Bottom line, don't be surprised to have a lack of responses here. I personally prefer Open Class much the same way that I prefer college sports to professional sports. And this year seems to be stacking up to be a very good year competitively. Just a couple of points separate the top corps, and I cannot wait to see what OC gets on their next competition.
  11. They will certainly bring it. Very interesting season this year, for us BD fans, been a hard one so far. But, it is the end of the race that counts, all BD fans remember 2008 for both B corp and A Corp. Do it up, DEVS!
  12. wow, 23 years ago you liked the show BD did. hardly an endorsement, especially how this year's entire corp was not even born then. Back to the topic, the cavies are the favorite. No question at this point in time.
  13. Couldn't answer why. The ranking is just wrong. But SCVC is a great corp this year, and certainly has taken lots of captions in head to head with BDB. Basically, the corps are about tied. Perhaps, questioning the source of the information. The last time that I remember a big spread was after this time last year. For the record, Go BDB!
  14. priceless. First laugh of the evening.
  15. The Freelancers played an encore. Great sound! One of the evenings highlights.
  16. The variety of the shows this year is pretty amazing. So far, I have only seen the shows on the west coast, but each show is unique, and very different than the others. SCV: Dark, but then they run people around the field... and the ending is really visually good. Cadets: Turning the entire horn line into guard with them twirling swords. Great Moment. BD: Love the music this year. Blueknights: Had to miss them due to other duties, but I enjoyed the music from a distance. Open Class, BDB's show is really really good. Hope they can clean it up. SCVC: Very strong again, as usual. Should be very clean in another month. BDC: Cutesy. Corp seems a little older this year, but very fun. VK: Baseball in a football stadium? Fun again.. Revolution: Great look and huge corp! Liked them a lot. Should be a lot of fun later.
  17. Alex, You presume a lot when speaking for most fans. I disagree with you entirely. But more importantly, your argument is petulant. Recognizing whining is very easy, but still the whining gets annoying. But, you remind me of a politician that does not have an answer, so refers abstractly to "most" people or most of my constituents. Take it up a level...
  18. kind of took that way out of context... The comment was about downey "losing" it. Took a long time this year to get a complaint about BD's music, but I guess that you simply cannot make everyone happy. BTW< I have their CD. Really like the music this year. If BD does not win, lets congratulate whoever does, and give them the credit. Come to think of it. let's do the same if BD does win.
  19. Wish I could have been there. Looks like the NorCal corps did themselves proud!
  20. top 3??? From 7th? What do you base that on? From what I have seen (saw it in UOP, Stanford, Clovis) the show is pretty dirty, and not very original from a marching perspective. The music is ok, not my cup of tea, but I can appreciate it. I understand die-hard fans supporting SCV and "liking" the show. But visually, the show just leaves me pretty flat.
  21. Actually, I think it had more to do with the Lucas. I can travel to the east coast for hundreds less than Indy... As you might surmise, I live in Northern Ca. As for the rest, I do appreciate your opinions. I think that the stadium is loud because it is tiny.
