  1. There are more blue devil posts than cadet posts in this thread. Odd.
  2. Well if the bluecoats can be first in brass and go to fourth, the Cadets can certainly go from 1st in visual ensemble both nights to being 0.40 below the bluedevils who they owned by 0.40. Same thing with the CG score for cadets to drop 3 places in one night. So I don't understand why people care about numbers so much when judges can't figure out some kind of consistency from night to night from corps to corps. I still find it amazing that the Cadets have been able to take the heft of DCI's attention for the last 3 years in a row, regardless of their scores. Eitherway, it is safe to assume that 07 cadets was one of the most difficult shows I've seen the last 8 years. But on a personal note, I still cannot see how the Blue Devils were scoring very high in visuals (all of a sudden) as compared to what the Cadets were doing out there.
  3. I loved BD's sound. It was really full, probably would be my 3rd favorite hornline. Not saying they were, but it really sounds like their entire book contained the most sustains out of the top hornlines. Towards the end it kinda seemed like chord progressions. At least to my ears.
  4. The Cadets - I've yet to hear another ###### off Bb hornline like these babies. Bringing back the early 90's anger through those bells. Jesus, that hornline was loud. Not a fan of the narration but you can't deny that they were playing and marching some ridiculous stuff that loud.... Woo sitting on the 50 for their hits was certainly a privilege. Bluecoats - Whew I really think they beat 2002 Cavaliers in terms of sonority. Great great sound.
  5. The Cadets - I think this is the only APD that keeps your attention from beginning to end. I think it was great that they didn't have a ballad. The show was like 3 kicks in the face with volume, volume, volume. Even with narration, it really does it for me in terms of serious volume. And I love volume with a great brass book. Runner up Blue Devils - Until about 3:30, I'm really done with the APD. Honestly the first 3 and a half minutes were phenomenal, it really and truly is a shame that the intensity level and the book just gets so stale after it. I mean there's a noticeable difference after that mark. It just gets so boring and long. That closer just didn't work for me. But on a brighter note, the first half of the opener was great!
  6. Self Explanatory The Cadets -When they turn around and play the da da daahh! -Dbl Tonguing, to those horn doppler movement, and WHAM wall of sound and amazing release to cap off with a toss. GE after GE after GE!!! -The baritone entrances at the end of the opener, DA..DAAA DAAA! Jesus with that sick ending drill. I don't know how they do it. -The two super fast rotating blocks spitting through the guard. What a cavie move! -The company front to the end. Jeez Unbelievable Execution. In my opinion the most energetic ending I've seen to a show in the last 5-7 years! Blue Devils -The drumline moving through that line with the space chords, one of my favorite moment of their entire show -The girl who does the split in the beginning! OUCH!!! So badarse -The add on writing began by the mellophones. Pretty creepy, loved that part every time. Phantom Regiment -The pit entrance. What delicate playing. Loved it everytime -The turn around playing was pretty sweet in the opener -Firebird theme. I got really nostalgic. Loved it, goosebumps everytime -The final bird flock. I loved watching it and hearing how they were able to pull it off without losing control. Amazing Bluecoats -"I'll be watching you". My favorite narration lick of the season. It was intense. loved it -The guard moving through the lasers. That's pretty freaking sick. Loved it. Great great GE -Drop your weapons! Everything from then on was awesome. It was again, pure GE! Loved it, incredibly well put together! -Backfield playing during the ballad. Absolutely gorgeous. More to come!
  7. I dunno... That hornline's volume level was pretty #### powerful, definitely the hornline that stuck out from the rest of the top 12. When a company front is charging at you at 215 as it gets viciously loud with those feet flying and kicking your face. I dunno how that would considered cute. Personally that company front after the, "This I Believe" was definitely a drum corps history statement. I can't state it enough. It just doesn't make sense how that hornline was able to get louder louder and louder as they were flying at that speed and demand of drill. I just cannot believe it. I seriously haven't heard a corps in a long time do something to that degree, speed, volume, and energy level. And you gotta keep in mind these kids had 2 really fast songs before this. It's jaw dropping that last 40 something seconds of the show. Absolutely jaw dropping. Narration or not, that was a serious serious statement.
  8. This is absolutely amazing. It just doesn't get old does it?
  9. You know now that I think about it 2007 Cadets, that is some serious raw raw raw power. In my opinion it was probably the most amount of power I've seen in a show since the early 90s, which I think it could even top. Narration or not, it really could not mask what they were doing down there from beginning to end. These guys are doing some of the most demanding things I've ever seen, and they just get louder and LOUDER. Now that to me is.. POWER. other favorites are... 1987 Santa Clara Vanguard 1988 Blue Devils 1993 Cadets
  10. Agreed. I didn't like the narration, but GMichael, you seem to overshadow almost all of the 2007 Cadets post with narration.
  11. 1- The Cadets, possibly one of the most amazing shows I've ever seen. Seriously, watching it over and over again, how could you not find hundreds of incredibly difficult parts. They marched and played some of the most challenging stuff at the highest tempos. In my opinion, it's been the most powerful Bb hornline I've ever heard. These kids marched and played their ##### off. Everything from the entire trumpet double tonguing to the rotating blocks at blistering speeds, these guys made clear that they were doing some of the hardest material seen. The last company front to the end of the show flying at 215 bpms has, in my mind, become the most challenging finish to a show I've ever seen. They just kept coming and coming and coming. This show was absolutely flooring in talent (with VOLUME) and a shear ###### off attitude. 2- Blue Devils - Clean performance and a great opener. However, I didn't really find the drill effective. They would get second mainly because of their execution. However, this certainly wasn't clean as past Blue Devils performances. I don't know, past the opener, it just became very lackluster towards the end. The closing few moves really didn't do it for me. I mean especially after what Phantom Regiment and the Cadets finished with, it was very weak. Though I did applaud the Blue Devils' outstanding spirit that they had within their performances. Started great but ended very very weak. They did do some demanding stuff out there, playing especially, however a lot of times it was simply park and blow. I'm not saying this show wasn't hard, it was not impressive considering what the corps put out before them. Again great opener. 3- Phantom Regiment - Absolutely wonderful. Great show with amazing energy, however I felt that were a little flat finals night. This one gorgeous ballad by the way. What I was most impressed was the great connection that the two players for the duet had with each other. I thought that playing, many things, were right on the money in terms of expression and demand. Though, I did find the drill most of the time to be ineffective. This lack off effect in the drill sometimes comes off a bit of a problem for the corps 4- The Cavaliers - Great great show. I loved every minute of it, except that it was missing some kind of oomph to the show. I was very happy that the cavaliers did attempt to play something of a different style. I wish that the Cavaliers would continue in such a manner of shows, something more musical and demanding at the same time. Wow was it a fast show! I was very happy to see that the Cavaliers weren't doing their typical 2000 "neo drum corps" music similar to 2000-2003, 2006. It was certainly a great divergence from the norm.
  12. As if Drum Corps aren't struggling right now with money. This whole, "hitting them where it hurts" idea, in terms of money, is just adding to the already present financial problems Drum Corps are having.
  13. 1989 Phantom Regiment - Right before the end and the double forte when the baritones get louder 1999 SCV - Blue Shades Park and Blow Section 2000 Cadets - Baritones downward run in the final drill move 2006 Phantom Regiment - Ave Maria Ballad 2007 Cadets - Baritone Re-entrance at the end of the opener (DAAA DAAA DAAAAAAAAAAAAAA)
  14. Let's keep that topic down. Because it'll end up like every other Cadet 07 topic. It becomes stereotypical to talk about narration. That wasn't what this topic was about to begin with, it was just the great moments within the show. Notice I didn't talk about narration, which was basically brought up every time. This is just a fan appreciation writeup. There's more to the show than just that controversial aspect.
  15. I mean like the narration or not, drum corps or not, it was some seriously impressive stuff in there.
  16. I have the semis video with it. I thought the guard was fantastic. The overall show and performance, they're just amazing. The demand of what the show asked and what the performers gave back. Outstanding, absolutely outstanding.
  17. I just couldn't put that Mp3 down. What I'm in complete awe of was just how they kept going and going and getting louder and louder after that last company front. I mean you'd think they'd fatigue somewhat. But the drill just gets harder and harder and there isn't a breath to be heard anywhere. I mean stuff like this is just amazing...
  18. I like many really despised this show in the beginning. And like many others I was expecting to receive an 6-8th placement at finals. As I saw it more and more, it became more and more frequently a favorite on my playlists. I guess I could say I've seen the light. After watching the Semifinals video over and over again, I'm beginning to see that the 2007 Cadets has probably the most awesome "DCI Moments" in one single show. I started losing counts of how many awesome and cool features they had within this show both visually and musically. How B A D A $ $ Here's just some of the Symphonic Movement - -The accelerando and the crazy circles that get faster and faster, that really sets you up for some momentum. -And BAM! One of the most exciting opening statements I've ever heard, and wow what a hornline statement that was. Coming from only backfield playing to a full face ripper in the most ###### off intensity just gives me goosebumps every time I hear it. -And wow what a company front, you think it got loud when they turned around, but whew, when that thing hits it was full throttle from there. -Low Brass playing Side to Side attacks over 70 yards! Wow! -Need I say one of the most ###### trumpet features ever... The Double Tonguing... I was told from a member that every single trumpet double tongued. Now to get your entire section to do that is just showing off, and it really works. -And you want to applause there... but wow they start playing in every direction, using the Rosebowl to reflect sounds from every angle as they move. What a haunting feeling. -From then on it was just a wall of sound. Pure early 90s ###### of Cadets is what I seemed to get out of it. Blue Shades - -What really impressed me was the subtlety that they began it with. Simple very quite mellophone attacks with no drumline to lose no time. Whew that take a lot of skill there. -After that the narration really kicks it in by using Humor. -A great trumpet solo follows before the big hit. -The park and blow section was absolutely great in its writing. Personally the mellophone runs did it for me compared to SCV's, Crossmen's, and Spirit's versions. While they played these runs to the big hit they were doing some of the fastest and largest block rotations I've ever seen. -After that, I think the cadets have done the largest full corps triangle rotation I've ever seen at that speed. You can just look at those kids fly at the ends. Adiemus -A haunting back field playing (I wasn't fond of this narration so much though) -Then WHAM! 210+ Beats Per Minute right off the bat. This really impressed me, a show with no ballad, and 2 songs before them at some ridiculous tempos and visual and musical demand... Now they're ending their show with 210 wow. Absolute respect for their endurance. -Need I say whiplash drill and a trumpet feature that definitely gets stuck in your head. -A massive wall of sound comes when the entire corps enters. Again, this is 210+! The drill they're marching is almost kaleidoscopic, it changes so fast. -During the Pit Feature and the Rotating Diamonds with the guard flying through, I thought that I witnessed some of the fastest movements on the field ever. -Bam and the hornline goes at it again with some crazy sunburst and nova resembling drill move during the drum break. I gotta give the drumline their share of credits. These guys were FLYING at this speed while playing. Absolutely flying left and right while playing. The hornline was doing some of the most physically demanding stuff I've ever seen. -Need I say it, the push to the end I've seen. A company front that just charges and charges, and the hornline gets louder and louder and louder. These guys just keep going and going. This is the moment where I thought they were just inhuman for what they were doing physically out there and not a single moment of rest. The company front breaks in a ripple and they come back in a complete straightline (WOW). And when you think they were done, they keep goin! Motion like I've never seen before WHILE blasting your face off with VOLUME. Now that's impressive. There wasn't a bar of rest, it was the 2007 Cadets hornline coming at you with all they had. This was truly an amazing ending, in my opinion the demand is second to none. This was a serious serious historical final statement. ------------------ Does anyone else feel the same way? I have a serious amount of respect for this show. I lose count for how many amazing features they had.
  19. Not a hardcore Cadet fan but... Jay Bocook 2001 Cadets - Juxtaperformance 2005 Cadets - Liquid (best original work on the field ever IMO) 2007 Cadets - Blue Shades was amazingly written. The last minute of the Closer was some of the most exciting written works I've ever heard.
  20. Jeez what's with Cadets Cadets Cadets Cadets Cadets Cadets??!? There ARE other corps, and they're NOT other corps, why do they have to things like OTHER corps? or OTHER Cadet years or what OTHER etc... DCP has talked more about the Cadets than any other corps for the last 3 years. From their highest scoring show to the lowest scoring show, to a second place show. Whatever, it's constantly about the Cadets. To me it's surprising that people talked about a 5th place show over a 1st place show (and everyone else in between) or a 2nd place show than the rest of the top 12. When is there going to simply and just be an acknowledgment that that's what The Cadets are doing. How about you let the Cadets do what the Cadets want to do?
