  1. IMHO best quote of DCI history. And they say BD has no class...
  2. A judge can only give so much individual attention to the marchers, and in a larger corps this amount is a smaller percentage of what is actually going on than in a smaller corps. So why not double that panel to even things out? People are also claiming to have heard crass moments in high scoring brasslines, but these moments are possibly missed by the field brass judge due to his location on the field. having an ensemble brass judge in the stands might eliminate these happenings. And no, I am not kidding about levels of difficulty. Current DCI members are moving very well, smooth upper bodies and keeping volume and good tone while maintaining simultaneous difficulties of different marching styles/choreoraphy. It isnt easy, cowtown. Maybe you thought it was? and.. adsurd?
  3. What are your thoughts in regard to panel doubling? Do you like how doubled panels eliminate ties and create tiny margins of victory? Do you think they should start doubling the brass judge, one on the field and one in the box? Many people on this forum have wondered aloud if having a brass judge on the field allows corps to hide more dirt/bad tone quality than it should. Would a brass judge off the field help eliminate some moments of bad tone quality that are only heard from the stands? Or if a Individual vis judge should be doubled ON the field to catch more levels of difficulty and dirt that the corps is displaying? It seems odd that a smaller corps (open class maybe) with 75 members is judged with the same number of feet judges as a big corps of 150 people. Perhaps with the increase in numbers we should increase the eyes on the field, like we do with staffing corps or marching bands? Discuss.
  4. I am guilty of this as well, but the issue did not really come to my mind till this season. I cheered at 2nd place this year, just as I did at 3rd place in 2006. Then I got to wondering why it seemed the fans cheer loudest when BD loses to PR, not just this year. I am not trying to guilt anyone, just taking a poll and discussing to see if I am alone in my mindset.
  5. But why not applaud BD for their amazing season? Not many corps have been able to have a 26-2 season, scoring higher than their previous year's score (which was a championship show), and have that amazing of a guard and visual program. Why not wait to cheer for PR when their score is announced, and let BD receive the applause they so obviously deserved?
  6. And then a show called "winged victory" for #12 in 2007 would be ok... just sayin'....
  7. Blue Devils will be good this year, but keep in mind they will not be going to Summerville untill after stockton. (summerville is the traditional place that the devils learn their closer, actually move in together for the first time, and usually happens before precision west... #### that hill...)
  8. The A corps has five tenors. The Q5 is now once again five members!
  9. And Devils were there this last summer during the indy weekend as the blue stars violated many noise violations while they were there previously. I heard from a bd tour manager that BDHS is going to be the devils' home for the duration of the indy championship years.
  10. I believe you have "Tuba" mixed up with "sousaphone". Please be rest assured these are two distinctly different things. I could attempt to get in to detail about how the curvature makes the sound suck, and etc, but please understand that corps DO march tubas, contrabass tubas, in fact. A contrabass tuba is a CC or Bb tuba, whereas a bass tuba is more of an F or Eb tuba...
  11. In 2004, when it was first allowed, many people HATED what they did with their show, the singing, narration, etc. But people soon saw past it, and the show even made the Classic Countdown. In 2005 they had a KILLER show, with no narration... In 2006 they had ANOTHER KILLER show, with no narration. In 2007, now that there have been a few years of practice, even Hroth liked what they did with their narration. New rules don't really mean that they have to use the new toys all the time and everytime. It just means that designers have less boundaries. And personally I LOVE creative new ideas on the field.
  12. I am HAPPY that it did not pass... My body might break after just one more year, let alone two more years...
