  1. My problem is I know who Atlas was. He was a Titan who was being punished by his dad Zeus and was condemned to bear the weight of the world on his shoulders. I kind of see what Cadets are trying to do but it's an esoteric idea that just doesn't come across to me in the Cadet's show. The finale shows a guard dressed like everybody else climbing some rifles/stairs. I just don't get it.
  2. I dunno, you could be right because out of all the dozens of drum corps and thousands of participants, only 150 kids will win. However, it seems like a symbiosis to me. How many kids would be in drum corps if there were no audience to play to? We exist in harmony, both audience and marching member playing his part in the greater good. A ying and a yang in perfect harmony, Dang, that may be a theme for next year's Blue Devils program!
  3. Do you use subwoofers? I can hear it via Flo but that could also be how I have my subs set up, maybe too hot. I do know the sub arrays on the sidelines are waaay too hot, especially if you're sitting in their direct path.
  4. This is the United States of America. Our forefathers, back in the days of Fife and Drum corps brought forth the greatest political document ever written, The Constitution. The First Amendment guarantees us the right bring up any subject on the DCP Discussion Board, even if it includes the fighting words, "Blue Devils" and even if some people disagree with that. Should anyone disagree with MY opinion on this, I reserve my right to invoke the Second Amendment. Just as the writer of the constitution Thomas Jefferson once said, "he with biggest firearm wins argument." Discussion ended. I win. 👍 😎 ++++++++++++++++ PS - If anyone is wondering why I'm mindlessly blathering on at four in the morning, you guys are helping to keep me entertained. I woke up at 3a with a headache and didn't feel good so I took my blood pressure and I've been taking it every 15 minutes. Even an hour after I took my blood pressure pill it's now at 194/102, way too high. I'm usually around 140/68. It's now 5am so off to the doctor for me in a couple of hours once the office opens.
  5. Championships won while wearing leather helmets don't count.
  6. Re: Flo and the mixing boards of the various corps I can easily hear when the board mixers are loudly mixed. I can also see when the thunderous goo is OVER amplified because my 3000 watt subwoofer amp lights up when it clips. Boston by far does the the most (ie worst) for the Wellerman tuba solo and tuba section feature. No other corps pushes my sub amps like that. Just during that one section my amp lights up like a Christmas tree and stays juiced for at least another minute until the board operator turns it down. I can get the Flo sound LOUD, once measured at 100 db. Even for me, that's too loud. 80 to 90 db is plenty.
  7. I've got a 9.4 horn driven system purpose built to listen to drum corps. I want to hear dynamics, I want to hear snare drums CRACK, I want to hear the sonic difference between baris and tubas and I want to hear LOUD. My Denon AVR X67H w/Emotiva XPA-5 amp @250 wpc does the processing using Neural-X mode which gives me the Front Heights, a similar sound to the L/R. I typically run 5.1 + a couple of Rear Surrounds and Front Heights to get to 9.4 (four subs). I really like the Front Heights because they add a 3D sound. Tonight I disconnected the Surround Rears because they produce virtually no content useful to a drum corps show. I've experimented with 2.0 in the past with the Blu-ray disc (BD). Even on the BD's with All speakers Stereo I get a more aggressive sound, a very good sound than with 5.1. I think I'll try Stereo and All Speakers Stereo again, in your honor.
  8. You didn't see last year's show, did you? Best ever. 👍 And it wouldn't hurt my feelings if the drum line got a new cadence. I love the old one but it's time to change it up a bit.
  9. Anything played on G bugles in the last century is fair game to be played again for a current drum corps show.
  10. With the fans judging, make that a ONE and TWO zeros! And First in class. 😎
  11. If this keeps up the Marines are going to get a time penalty for a late start. 🤓
  12. It's shame the people who direct the multi-cam don't know enough to stay with the high cam shot long enough to let us see the appearing Matisse star into the disappearing then reappearing Matisse star in the ending. 🤬
  13. Remind me again, what is the purpose of spinning the guard guys inside those mouse traps at the end?
  14. I don’t know if you’ve noticed, but they watered down the solo I think, starting with the Atlanta show. In my opinion, the new version is the best version. The soloist was playing some strange, octaves and odd notes True to the original, but it was very difficult to play, and did not add much of anything to the show. The new solo is just perfection.
  15. Not good, great run by the cadets! Best I’ve seen all year.
  16. As good as the rest of your analysis was of the other top corps, instead of simply mentioning BD I'd like to hear your breakdown of their show. I have no embarrassment in saying their show is above my ability to understand all the subtleties.
  17. I was thinking along the same lines. Cadets think of themselves as out-pointing Phantom and Mandy for 5th but I think more realistically they need to be looking over their shoulder. Cavies are coming and it could happen. A few weeks ago I thought the opposite about the direction Cadets are heading. Tonight their circles weren't round, their lines were not straight and they seem to have lost the support of the crowd. The judges too.
  18. I deliberately stayed off the DCI website so as not to crash the server so you guys can do your analysis of the analysis and explain to me what happened tonight.
  19. Nothing's perfect. If you put all the corps on for 4-6 hours that ends up not being a pleasant experience for those who try to sit in bleacher seats the whole time. You should have been there back in the says when DCI East prelims started at 8am on a Saturday morning. The groupings scores from at least 30 corps were posted on a chalk board near the right endzone and updated every 3 or 4 corps. By the time they finished at 3 or 4 pm you're tired, hungry, smelly and little tire of hearing drum corps shows. And not that it matters but I also got a splinter in the butt one year from the wooden bleachers! Then the top 12 (I think it was 12, maybe 8 would play in finals and get done really late, can't remember the exact time. It was too much. Give me a two day split any day.
  20. I know of other corps who closed late season rehearsals to the public, no explanation given. This disappointed fans who enjoy watching the corps practice. It seems like a good move to close practice in hopes of keeping the members safe from illness. It may be disappointing to their fans but it is entirely understandable.
  21. I don't see how it could be a "huge boost." The OG ending was already fantastic. Assuming you're right and this could become fantastic, they've only broken even. If Cadets really wanted to boost GE they need to get the battery to do more than stand in an upside down arc not playing or moving for three minutes during the ballad. I should have kept my mouth shut on that last comment ^^^. Now we'll get meaningless "choreography" while the snares do cartwheels while wearing their drums. 🤸‍♂️ 🤸‍♂️🤸‍♂️🤸‍♂️🤸‍♂️🤸‍♂️🤸‍♂️🤸‍♂️ (eight snares, right?)
  22. What a ####### ######## you famously are! Rats, somebody was able to see through my well practiced ruse...🤣
  23. If you watch the live stream, it ends soon after scores are announced. I paused the live stream during Phantom, on my laptop, now I am able to rewatch the whole show from the National Anthem, I watched the show early from my PC. I could rewind and play anything I missed. The I went to the Home Theater setup and used my Iphone Flo app to cast to the 65" Vizio TV. I think Flo adds an app to the TV, I'm not sure. I know there is a Flo App on the Mancave Samsung 55" TV. With the Iphone casting to the TV I can only watch Live only. Nothing prior. If I pause the TV to help deal with the annoying buffering, the TV picks back up with the Live feed.
