my introduction to senior corps was an album i picked up at a show in 1976 that had corps i never heard of on it..........corps like scout house, hurricanes, skyliners and yankee rebels. the narrarator was explaining what seniors were all about. i wondered if they were all gone,or still active...........then in 1980 i went to dca finals with ohio brass and saw hurricanes!!! hey!!! thats the corps on the album i have!!! and skyliners!!!!..........i was amazed!! the only senior corps i heard about, when i was a kid in junior corps was pittsburgh rockets, because my director always talked about them.but i never got to see them. i consider myself lucky, very lucky indeed to see dca corps for the first time,in 1980!!!.........butch with skyliners, pepe nataro with hurcs, and matadors with the best soloists i ever heard(you know who they were!)and without a doubt, the best hornline i ever heard:reading buccaneers!!!...............you see it is very easy to be "insulated" from dca when you are a young kid in the mid-west who only knew junior corps, and pre-dci at that!! i never saw a corps from california until 1974.......i was in viet-nam (in 72 and 73)....................................
