  1. Hi, I hate to make this a zombie thread (back from the dead) but we need about $5 to bring us to $150 for a matched contribution of $150 from a member of the DCP community! Please consider helping this small corps buy some instruments for the kids.
  2. The most famous show is 89 SCV, as is witnessed by the zillion ripoff band shows in the fall every year since they did it. Second most famous is 84 Garfield, West Side Story. I would say the third most has to be 89 BD, for obvious reasons, followed closely by 95 Cavies. By the way, I'm not trying to spam you guys, and rather than create a separate thread which would be inappropriate for this forum, I thought I would ask if anyone on here who doesn't visit the World/Open Forums would like to contribute to our kickstarter campaign. We're trying to raise money to buy the kids some instruments this year. The kids are great, and they need to be involved somewhere, and it sure won't be the Cadets who take them. Any help would be appreciated. http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1951085831/imperial-sound-drum-and-bugle-corps
  3. $4 off of the $150 needed to get a matching donation from Spartans87. Anyone want to make a $4-$5 donation?
  4. rrrr... Zombie Thread is back from the dead... Since the beginning of this month, we haven't made nearly anything. With a physical drum corps up and running now, we have to buy instruments soon, and with Christmas and New Years coming up, our ability to get kids and volunteers together to operate a fundraiser is going to be slim. Spread some Christmas cheer and consider contributing to our campaign! Thank you.
  5. We're still a drum corps. No doubt about that. Whether it's Drum & Bugle or Drum & Brass is the matter at hand, but who really cares? Is a bugle made of brass? Is a brass instrument a bugle? Was a mellophone in G a bugle? How about a tuba in G? After all, a Contra is just a voicing, as is a soprano. In the same sense, I can call a Trumpet a Soprano Horn, a Mellophone, an Alto Horn, a Baritone, a Tenor Horn, a Euphonium, a Baritone Horn, and a Tuba, a Bass Horn. Or, as was the case in the Juniors forum, we might be best at calling them all Bananas. Go Bridgemen!
  6. After a successful November Camp, the corps is now riding high in confidence with strong support among the local community, strong support at completing our KickStarter financial goals, and putting together a wonderful experience for a group of kids in just a week after locating another facility in the boro. Despite all the disadvantages we've had so far, we've met every obstacle with optimism. Don't miss out on the experience of building a drum corps, by waiting out the winter and summer to see our first year. If you live in the PA/NJ/DE/MD area, and love drum & bugle corps, we've got a spot for you.
  7. Ok guys, If we can get $29 more by tonight, someone is offering to match $150 off the top. We have this thing started. We really need this.
  8. On November 20th, 2010, The Imperial Sound Drum & Bugle Corps held its first ever rehearsal. The corps battled immense obstacles to hold a camp in its first year, with housing sites changing continuously until the last week before... Read the Story Here! Specific needs include Bass Drummers, Cymbalists, Brass Players, and Color Guard.
  9. The view of smaller corps needs to change from them being lower than another corps to them just being smaller. What I mean from that is that "lower tier" has a connotation that potential marching members have taken notice of of being lower than them. They think they're good enough to march the Cadets, because they were a soloist in X band that participate XOB circuit and won 1st place. What being a small corps really means is having less members. If a small corps is a bunch of ringers, it still has the ability to win it all, and until we change our words to that, smaller corps still have the disadvantage of the late high school, early college demographic.
  10. 100% Volunteer Staff. Which brings up my earlier point... anyone surfing this thread want to stop whining and help support a non-G7 corps? I mean, thats why you guys are on here, right? In the game of life there are doers and then there are whiners. I just want to make sure that this is worth my time, because if I read you guys on DCP right, I'm just wasting my life trying to get a AAA corps started. What do you think, should I quit and fold the corps I started?
  11. I find it ironic that this page is 12, while the page on supporting us is 4. Instead of just complaining, why not change it? My kids could use it.
  12. http://www.theimperialsound.info/ Pictures and Audio are up.
  13. Mike's waiting for just $34 to make his donation of $150. We've had over 1800 views in this thread and only 21 contributors? I believe we can do better than that DCP. Come on guys... don't let ourselves down. WE can do this!!!
  14. Imperial Sound is 6 days away from kicking off the ground into a physical entity. I can't explain in words my excitement and pride in this thing getting started after the past 4 years. I'll be sure to post up a couple of pictures from Saturday for you guys. And... Thank you to Momto3 for the contribution.
  15. Hi Guys, I am overwhelmed by the support I have seen on DCP these past few days. I've been on these forums for a while, but I've definitely felt a political shift on here in the past year in terms of the en mass support of local and small organizations. We're still trying to fund, even though we reached our "goal" set at $1,000. Understand that the standard cost, retail, of instruments is well beyond $1,000. I don't expect us to reach $5,000, but I must try to push the DCP community. Only 15 backers after 1500 views on this topic, means that only 1% of this community that has viewed this thread supported us. If each of those contributed $1, a quick, easy, and minimal contribution, we could more than double the contributions we have now. DCP, this is the time to throw away that old notion of DCP as people who "put-down" or "bicker" or play armchair quarterback. This is crowdfunding, and it has done amazing things through regular people. So, as an individual message to all you reading this... can you contribute a single dollar in support of a thing greater and more meaningful to the activity, a new group of kids, and a new potential music educator? Now, I'd like everyone in support of this to help me by saying what $1 is less than. I'll start: $1.00 is less than a single 20 oz bottle of Coke.
  16. We have reached, through the generosity of our contributors, our goal of raising $1,000. We would like to announce that we have a winner of our highest reward caption. <Anonymous> been named the winner, and we have named, in his honor, our highest membership award to the "<Anonymous> Award for Outstanding Leadership". Now, with 82 days remaining, we have to ask ourselves what to do with the remaining time. Of course, we could just lay back, but then... what kind of example would we be setting to the new members? Read More at Imperial News!
  17. Thanks a lot Mike! You guys are blowing me away. Keep it up, DCP!
  18. We still need to cover about $800. Anyone can donate a dollar, quickly and easily, via Kickstart's Amazon Payments. All debit cards and credit cards are accepted. All the people who said "we need to support small drum corps" this is your chance!
  19. Thank you, Heather. DCP is now at $106 contributed. You guys should feel proud about your community. We still need to reach our goal of $1,000, because KickStarter doesn't collect pledges if the goal pledged has not been reached. Please keep the support coming.
  20. I thought I'd let you guys know where we are: 1st Place - DCP - $96 2nd Place - Drumlines.org - $6 3rd Place - Snarescience - $0 Keep it up guys, and Garfield will be able to match the first $100 pledged by DCP. Only $4 needed to reach that goal. Thats 1 people donating $5, or 4 people donating $1. Can we do it, DCP?
