  1. other than prep steps are stupid and that they remind of me trotting horses..that's all i have :) no i don't really have a problem with their style...i would just never do it, lol.
  2. I guess all i have to say is... "Amen" please don't....penalize me for that
  3. well when you put it that way....lol...
  4. i personally find the cavs technique visually exciting..however, i would never use it with my group...it works for them and only them. I personally HATE how the cadets march...it's way to stiff for me...and that backwards technique....whew....the right foot lead is ok, but i mean, i don't find it anything special. I personally HATE bostons elbows (i think it;s way to tense on the shoulders...instead of focusing on relaxing, but i could be wrong) and I personally enjoy relaxed straight leg, such as that of carolina crown, it seems to be the easiest to master, and most effiecent one on the field. now you all know how i personally feel :) by the way: the way phantom haults is called 3rd position. (i like it, sorta...it makes some directional moves coming out of a hault awkward..)
  5. Star of Carolina Presents: The Rise and Fall of Rome (as soon as an mp3 recording is available I'll post it up.) also our uniform design is in...
  6. my mistake, i apologize, that is the colts show, the colt cadets haven't announced yet =\ *slaps forhead*
  7. bring up the dead, i know, but just ran across this I work with Platinum ensemble. We're out of north carolina and hope add a circuit in WGI as well...this is our second year...and we're using a brassline, drumline, and guard. trying to stick to rules....we use 5 guard (legal mininum) 9 drumline and 16 brass (all approx. numbers) just letting people know more stuff is out there...we're trying down here in the south!
  8. yes i meant B and C, sorry for not being more clear.
  9. So i don't know if this has been addressed before, if so - forgive me, lol. But now that Div 2 and 3 are combined into open class...... are the blue devils going to field 2 corps against each other? this was the first thing that came to mind when i heard of the merge...and i couldn't find it on here anywhere that saw...and well i'm curious. lol. discuss
  10. Colt Cadets - "Night and Day" Targets - "Selections from the 13th Warrior" ....i hope they change that name, lol.
  11. whoa i didn't know that, haha that's funny...i wonder how much feedback they got from him...there's some things in there that are.......*Cringe*.... anyone else took the time to see it besides me?
  12. yea don't trash this show unless you saw it late in the season....it was like 2 entirely different shows, they def. showed some of the most improvement in 1 season i've seen in a while.
  13. North Carolina is pulling out 2 DCI shows now...both directly in part to crown, with a DCA corps trying to get things rolling too
  14. my college professors believe competition is key to music education. lol. When i mentioned drum corps he said he never really gave it much attention...but said...i see you have such a passion for it, so why don't you come by my office and explain it to me....now he loves it. :)
  15. good point..and i do enjoy seeing 10-20 rifles throwing solid tosses like that. also...not just work...but things like uniforms...today they're different from the corps uniform (vs the old uniforms that were similar) and also body....what do you people think of the introduction of more body and 'dance' that used to enhance the variety that can be presented
  16. So we all know that Corps has itself changed dramatically over the last almost 40 years, some think for the better, some think for the worse. But thinking colorguard specific (i am a brass guy now...so i don't mean to step on toes if i do, i'm just curious) It seems that the most dramatic change has been in colorguard. It seems to me to be the only section that has changed...without question for the better. Everything seems to be different, with so many various ways to perform the colorguard section in a corps. I bring this up because I'm just curious to hear what older vets think on the matter. discuss
  17. haha no no no...the audio of the blue devils was supposed to be one of the groups at the camp...and well...the groups they showed 'marching around' in the movie.....such a bad image for the art..
  18. it's not a corps....but a colorguard is used on the gaurdasil (spelling?) commercial right now...that's closer than we normally see. i recently watched amercian pie: band camp....*rolls eyes* and the use 1999 blue devils in the background (which is supposed to be one of the bands playing at the camp! LMAO)
  19. thats funny you say that...we just learned in our education class how back in the 60s-70s music programs were so underfunded and not taught well, and how it really messed up music education for a decade or 2... not really trying to start anything...just making of mention of how it related =\
  20. i'm a music education major myself so that's one for the count. it's going to be pretty mixed for the most part though...
  21. How about some God of War music...awesome stuff....there's some concert bands playing it on youtube...
  22. yes and no...it's a good point. i guess it really comes down to WHERE they put those extra 15...if they spread it out, no they wouldn't need more staff, etc. now...we've all noticed the trend is that everyone is adding a cymbal line back...yes this sucks because yes they have to have new staff....so yes i suppose in theory i'm right, but it wont happen that way.
