  1. Palmetto Percussion is selling Dynasty equipment from the past couple of seasons, all of which was used during the 2010 WGI Championship season. Details below. Marimbas: We have four Dynasty 4.3 octave synthetic bar marimbas on the iron cart frames. Battery: Eight Dynasty 14" Shorty snare drums. Black finish with silver hardware. Four sets of Six Pack tenor drums (6, 8, 10, 12, 13, 14). Black with silver hardware. Five Bass drums (16, 18, 20, 24, 28). Black with silver hardware. All equipment is in great shape, no out of tune or cracked bars on the marimbas and all drums include a case and Dynasty carrier. Email MLeitzke@comcast.net or ecrook5@live.com for pricing, pictures or more details.
  2. Maybe Bret Kuhn? He writes a lot of shows with Drew Shanefield and Erik Johnson already. Seems like he would be a good fit.
  3. Hop just posted an event on facebook that confirms that they will be in that parade on Jan. 20th. 4. Not an injury, more of a illness, but in 2006 I had a nasty double ear infection and a sinus infection to boot the week of Allentown. That sucked.
  5. I've seen a listing of a show in Indy on June 20th on the Crown tour schedule as well as the Cavaliers tour schedule, but there is no mention of the show on DCI.org. Anyone know any details? Maybe that will be the final thing that happens in the RCA dome before they tear it down.
  6. Amplification in drum corps makes sense. As a member of a front ensemble with one of the loudest brass ensembles behind him, I would say that playing at the heights and velocities we would need to be heard over the CC horn line would be very taxing on my hands and probably not very good for my overall longevity of the keyboards themselves. With that said, the way we use amplification, and probably others do the same thing, is to simply support the sound made by the keyboards. We do not rely on the sound coming out of the speakers to be the only thing that is heard, but rather to embellish upon the beautiful, natural sound of Yamaha rosewood. Just my .02 cents.
  7. Yoko Kanno is pretty ######, japanese anime movie composer but she writes some really cool stuff. Jesse Mattson also is another new guy I've recently found. He wrote some really cool percussion ensemble stuff, particularly a piece in three movements called Rosewood Chronicals.
  8. The PR front ensemble played an extremely difficult and demanding book. The complexity and texture of that opening statement imho was totally groundbreaking as far as front ensemble playing goes. No one else has ever played anything that I've ever heard that sounds remotely like that. We tried in 2006, but we cheated and used delay effects on the sound board which were later axed by DCI. However as far as best pit in DCI 2006 and 2007, I'd have to say the Bluecoats take the cake. Tom Rarick's writing reminds me a lot of the 03-05 Cavalier pits that in my opinion really stepped up front ensemble writing and performing. I have to say that Carolina Crown, Bluecoats, Phantom Regiment, and The Cadets were pretty much the deal this past summer as far as front ensembles.
  9. Bret Kuhn still teaches at Prospect HS outside of Chicago, arranges for a ton of people, including Aiamichi Indoor percussion and a lot of other Japanese groups. He also does a bunch of clinics including Midwest and PASIC this year.
  10. They encouraged it, but I'm in the front ensemble so it was different for us. I'm pretty sure the brass could too during the day. But they always had to have hats on so maybe they couldn't wear them.
