  1. Question, my last caption changes were on July 5th, but it's still saying I've changed captions in the last week. Please advise.
  2. Congratulations, Matt. Clovis East is an up an coming program and, really, all of the Clovis schools (Clovis, Clovis West, Clovis East, Buchanan) have a long tradition of great music programs. After all, long time program coordinator for the Blue Devils (and now with the Madison Scouts) Ramiro Barrera used to be the band director at Clovis West, and Santa Clara Vanguard brass arranger Key Poulan used to be the band director at Buchanan. Good luck at Reyburn, and I expect to see you guys beating Kastner Intermediate at band reviews soon.
  3. All of the great moves previously mentioned, plus these that I didn't see listed: 1990 Cadets - "Z-Pull Fake-out" Last minute of show, they start the z-pull, slam on the brakes, then throw it in reverse at full speed. 1996 Madison Scouts - "Swirling wedge 360" Last minute of show, right after the final batch of sop soloists. Corps forms a wedge, marches forward four counts, diagonally forward four counts and then... the "insides" of the wedge go this way and that until eveyone's facing backfield, then finishes with a full corp 180 (towards the inside, with each half turning towards the other) before blasting full speed into the final drill set. One of the more under appreciated drill moves ever, IMO. 2004 Santa Clara Vanguard - "Rippling company front" Towards the end of Scheherazade... Horizontal lines racing back field, criss-crossing each other, then an abrupt 180 into the full company front that "ripples" from the ends to the center.
  4. Of course not. There's nothing to just maintaining a list of scores and then sorting them in descending order. My rankings take into consideration ALL performances for the entire week (Thursday through Wednesday). Thus, the corps that are at the top of my rankings are the ones that performed the best over the course of the whole week, not just the corps that scored high at the most recent show. Here's how it works... Every corps gets a score for every day. On days corps don't perform, they get a "ghost score" of their previous score (real or ghost) plus (usually, but not always) 0.500. Real scores (bolded below) are weighted 200%, ghost scores (italicized below) only 100%. So, for Glory of Polaris: THR 7/3 - 79.523 (Wednesday 7/2 rating of 79.023 + 0.500) FRI 7/4 - 80.648 (DENVER, CO - prelims) SAT 7/5 - 79.100 (DENVER, CO - finals) SUN 7/6 - 79.600 (Saturday 7/5 score of 79.100 + 0.500) MON 7/7 - 78.721 (CEDARBURG, WI) TUE 7/8 - 80.462 (MENOMONIE, WI) WED 7/9 - 81.159 (ST. PETER, MN) Thus, the formula is as follows: [(REAL SCORES * 2) + (GHOST SCORES)] / WEIGHT TOTAL = RANKING (rounded to the nearest thousandth) [ (80.648 + 79.100 + 78.721 + 80.462 + 81.159) * 2 + (79.523 + 79.600) ] / 12.0 = RANKING ( 800.180 + 159.123 ) / 12.0 = RANKING 959.303 / 12.0 = 79.942 Glory of Polaris's ranking for the past week was 79.942. Clear as mud?
  5. I know! They were quite the... uh, revelation. Glory of Polaris had a slight rebound last night. Onward and upward!

  7. My britches! They are falling off! Looks like both Glory of Music corps let their success in Denver go to their heads. Time for some rehearsal butt-kicking.
  8. 8two5 does absolutely awesome work. I just had him design two uniforms for me for my ensembles on FMB, and I'll probably ask him to update Glory of Polaris and Glory of Eden's uniforms--along with creating uniforms for my new D-III corps--for Season XI.
  9. Indeed. You have to remember how BIG the western states are: Chicago is closer to Atlanta (717 miles) and New York City (790 miles) than Albuquerque is to San Diego (813 miles).
  10. Cavaliers, Pacific Crest, Madison Scouts, Mandarins - not performing again until Saturday. Pioneer, The Academy - not performing for the rest of the week.
  11. Agreed. I would think that a good number of DCPI Division I corps (at least) have one or more captions linked to a corps that performed at Louisville, so these recaps might have a significant impact on the DCP-I scores. Still no recaps.

  13. H.Y.P.E. removed from the rankings due to inactivity for 2008. There was nothing I could find on their website about being inactive when I looked a week or two ago, so I included them until I heard otherwise.
  14. Nope, but they're the defending champions until proven otherwise. As I said, the lack of quantity in Open Class performances (especially until the end of this month) makes Open Class rankings a bit more of a guessing game.
  15. The TRIGLAV Drum and Bugle Corps from Nova Gorica, Slovenia will be debuting in Superior, WI this weekend their 2008 program: "Wine, Women and Song" Wine, Women and Song -- Dionysiaques (Florent Schmitt) -- Adagio from "Spartacus" (Aram Khachaturian) -- Bacchanale (Jacques Ibert)
  16. 1. Pacific Crest 2. Blue Stars 3. Crossmen

  18. Glory of Polaris took Division I in Denver and Glory of Eden was 3rd in Division II (but only 0.20 out of 1st). This weekend couldn't have turned out much better! Our first DCPI Victory!
  19. They're up now. Crown topped Cadets in Brass and Guard.
  20. Glory of Polaris finished 3rd in Division I and Glory of Eden finished 3rd in Division II in Denver. Both corps advanced to Finals. We are ecstatic!
