  1. It's sounds cool, but I'm curious to see if any support will be offered for Finale Sibelius users, or if it will be like most sound libraries and geared towards composers who do their work in a DAW. $300 does seem to be a bit high for a battery library. The problems I see it with the recordings is that they were recorded on a soundstage and not in their more normal environment of the great outdoors. I'll give it a try when it comes out though. The brass library on the other hand sounds GREAT!!!
  2. How are VF and Evans under the D'Addario umbrella? Didn't D'Addario buy out Pro-Mark?
  3. Wasn't Julie Davila center back in the early 80's for PR?
  4. Was at Spirit for the last few years and still writing/designing for Music City Mystique.
  5. Word on the street is that Shane Gwaltney is the new guy in town for Regiment.
  6. Hmmmm....I thought I'd gotten in a request soon enough. Never heard back from anyone besides an email saying they'll be in contact. Ahh well, it was a nice offer on Crowns part.
  7. Are you talking about the Yamaha drums that are built to Pearl specs? Maple shells, Pearl cuts on the bearing edge. The only thing that's all Yamaha on them is the hardware. Everything else is built to Pearl specs.
  8. It had nothing to do with endorsements. Jim didn't leave SCV because of their VF deal. If you remember correctly, SCV used to have a VF AND IP deal when Jim was there. Read his reasoning for leaving on his site. I've known him for years now. If his reasoning is what he posted, then that's why he left. No ulterior motive or anything based on endorsements.
  9. Hey Folks, Not sure who has heard about this yet, but Jim Casella has decided to leave the Cavaliers. He's getting out of the drum corps scene for a while to focus on some other projects. And to squelch and potential rumors, he left on his own, he wasn't fired or asked to resign.
  10. Richard Saucedo Steps Down As Cavaliers Brass Arranger/Composer Richard Saucedo has stepped down as the brass arranger for The Cavaliers Drum and Bugle Corps. Richard has been an integral part of the design team for many years, and we wish to thank him for his dedication, as well as his amazing compositions. His contributions have helped to establish the Cavalier sound of this decade. Richard stated, "I have resigned my position as brass arranger so that I can spend more time with my family. This will also allow me to focus more on my teaching responsibilities at Carmel High School, as well as my concert band and orchestral writing projects." He also stated "There is not a better organization for young musicians and performers anywhere on the planet!" Richard has been with The Cavaliers since the year 2000 as brass arranger and composer. We wish Richard nothing but continued success in all of his future endeavors. What is going one with all the people leaving.
  11. Yeah, I wouldn't want to go march Crown, especially with Lee Beddis at the helm. I mean, he really sucks as an instructor and writer. The staff he's assembled is really bad to. [/sarcasm]
  12. How big is your band? If you've got a band of decent size, I'd stay away from the Articulites as the sound can get swallowed up pretty quickly. I've seen plenty of indoor groups using the full size tenors indoors and they sound fine. With the right tuning and muffling, you'll be golden.
  13. Glassmen have been doing the chameleon paint job for a number of years now.
  14. You can't go wrong with the basics. Since it is a younger group, keep it simple with 8's, a double beat exercise, a two height exercise and a roll exercise. Yes, the seniors might get bored, but if you give them individual responsibilities to help the freshman, they may just latch on to it.
  15. Straight from Pearl's website, here are 5 of their world class corps colors and pictures of the actual drums (at least a snare for each corps anyway). Pearl's Drums
  16. I can assure you, there is no parade corps in St. Louis that is affiliated with Twilight Knights. Several years back a guy from the St. Louis area did get involved with TK. Sadly, I was duped in to helping out on the percussion side, but I saw the writing on the wall and left when I could. This was back in 2000 or 2001.
  17. Unless the corps bought the music from the composer, you would contact the composer for permission. If you don't mind my asking, what show are you talking about?
  18. EW came in to being in 1989, not sure on G-11. Neither of those pieces are 60 second warmups, they are street beats.
  19. When I saw the show in Indy, I saw a few guys running the boards that were on their cell phone. They are in communication with other staff up in the stands helping out with what to adjust. There is no rule against that, but I think the guy running the board shouldn't be allowed to get cues from the staff up in the stands. As for how they dress, many of the corps staff is dressed casually for shows. They are just as much on display as the guy running the board, should they wear a shirt and tie also?
  20. She's claiming that she's working with them for three weeks this summer. But, according to her, they are just starting their all days...in July.
  21. I can think of at least 8 of yours Cybil.
