  1. The offer went out to marching members months ago - I know because several kids on the corps I drive for bought them. It's now being offered to fans along with the new product that includes the backpack. It's OK for fans to get the offer too. I'm volunteering with a corps this summer and this bed will make a huge difference in how well I hold up at my age. Also, there's been an ad for this special on DCI.org for at least two months. Wouldn't say that was late at all.
  2. http://www.dci.org/_now/0006182008_aero.htm Cool deal! Love the new backpack/carry bag. They didn't offer that previously. Must be new.
  3. The general public reading an article about marching band fans arguing over electronics makes us look more nerdy than we're aldready perceived.
  4. I don't get the idea that the OP is interested in selling anyone on going to a drum corps show. Looks like he has a biased agenda.
  5. Then how about corps set up hundreds of 9 volt batteries around the horn block with signs that say "Lick Me"?
  6. I asked the question because a lot of people have misconceptions of what DCI is and the powers that be. Some think its some evil corporation with guys in suits in some tall office building somewhere. In reality, its just a non-profit organization that looks after a group of non-profits and its governance is made up primarily of the corps participating in the league. When people criticize or applaud DCI, they are doing that to basically the corps themselves not some third party with bad intentions.
  7. Thanks to the DCI Fan Network I was just able to watch 1980 Spirit. Wow.
  8. No need to argue. You were correct on the Steve Sanger "Fresh Air" quote.
  9. Actually that was Greg Clark that said the famous "Far Out" line in 1990.
  10. I miss big pushes. They were kinda predictable at times, but man, they could knock you back in your seat and leaving you whistling all the way home. Baby throwing time for sure.
  11. Cesario is previewing PR on DCI Field Pass Friday June 5. Perhaps he'll spill some beans.
  12. I wonder how that all would play today? I think they'd have to be beyond excellent to get credit competitively. Today's fans work all week, pay good money to gas up the car, pay for tickets, stand in lines and all that. It would be a nice change of pace and VK is sorely missed. Only so much news of war, economy and housing market woes you can take. Some shows today only add to that angst.
  13. I think some electric fencing would do the trick...and I'm not talking about the BD84SOP electric fencing. Although that might work too to prevent someone messing with your horns.
  14. I don't know how you guys move so fast with those hulks on your shoulder. It amazes me.
  15. At the end of the show, Dan Potter said Michael will be previewing Phantom on tomorrow's Field Pass. I'm looking forward to that!
  16. You can watch and listen to all of the Star and VK years they made finals. They aren't producing new content like the active corps, so that's probably why they aren't listed in the corps pull down menu.
  17. There are two parts of VK 1992 that come to mind. First is the ballad with the heavy communist theme and how well they acted out the storyline. Second, hands down, is the moment the shark ate the fat lady at the end. Brought the house down and tears of excitement to many.
  18. Check out today's DCI Field Pass show. Mike Cesario gives some nice previews of 2008 shows. He says "melody" is back and talks about how corps are using their 150 bodies. http://www.dci.org/news/view.cfm?news_id=f...a5-88a210735daf
