  1. Gave you a + because someone had given you a -, and I see no reason for that. What they should've done instead was tell you that Pacific Crest isn't going to be at Minneapolis.
  2. Why not? It's all in good fun. 1. Carolina Crown - 87.05 2. Blue Devils - 86.1 3. The Cadets - 86.05 4. Santa Clara Vanguard - 84.25 5. Madison Scouts - 83.65 6. Phantom Regiment - 83.45 7. Bluecoats - 82.35 8. The Cavaliers - 81.15 9. Blue Knights - 81.025 10. Blue Stars - 80.1 11. Spirit of Atlanta - 79.85 12. Boston Crusaders - 79.675 12. Crossmen - 79.675 14. Troopers - 79.525 15. The Academy - 78.025 16. Colts - 73.925 17. Cascades - 62.025
  3. For the record ... yes, BD was on top in guard. BD won the Music Percussion Cont. while Crown won Music Percussion Achv. So, while it was only by a tenth, Crown still won the overall Music Percussion caption. Just wanted to make sure that clarification was in there.
  4. So, I'm going to bump this thread with a sincere question. Does anyone know if there is a Vanguard Yell this year or are they wanting this to be like 2009? If there is one, does anyone know where in the show it is supposed to be? Thanks!
  5. 1 Madison Scouts 74.600 2 The Cavaliers 72.900 3 Spirit of Atlanta 70.800 4 Blue Stars 68.400 5 Crossmen 67.800 6 Troopers 67.000 7 Colts 63.800 Not sure I agree with Cavaliers being over Spirit ... especially not by 2.1 points. Also not sure I agree with Madison not getting at least 76.
  6. Then we're in the minority together, my fellow Chicago lover. I didn't see much improvement either and it's really sad. I'm with kickhaltsforlife ... if they don't jerk up on it, these other corps are going to come up, hungry for their metaphorical blood, and the Cavaliers may even have problems making Finals this year. I know that's pretty drastic, but something has to change in my mind.
  7. Here's what I think about each show tonight: Troopers: I was expecting great things from Troopers this year, and they certainly did not disappoint. Clearly, there's still plenty of cleaning to do, but they are impressing me just like they did in 2009. Colts: I was late getting started because I was working, so I had to skip Colts. I wanted to be able to post this before scores were announced since I'm making predictions at the end, so I'll update with my feelings about Colts after I watch the show. I'll watch it after scores. Blue Stars: I haven't loved or been impressed by Blue Stars this much since 2011. I know most people didn't like ReBourne, but it's my favorite Blue Stars show of all time. I remember seeing it at the first ever DCI Tour Premiere event and was blown away! This looks to be another stellar year for them. I can't wait to see where they take it! Spirit of Atlanta: This was my second read on this show and, while I loved the first read on it in the theatres, this second time around, I loved it more! Such a great show. Truly Spirit in every single way. Definitely still needs some cleaning, but definitely worthy of placing above The Cavaliers. Crossmen: I have always loved Crossmen, and REALLY wanted them to be back in Top 12 this year (even wanted them in Top 12 in 2008!), so I was hoping they'd come out with a show this year that would keep them in the Top 12 again. There's some stiff competition in that area with Blue Stars and Troopers, but I think Crossmen will pull it out in the end. If not, here's hoping for a tie for 12th at Semi's so we can have Crossmen AND Blue Stars in Finals! Madison Scouts: This was, by far, the best show of the night! Madison has truly come to play this year! They have fire in their eyes and are gunning for the Top 6! If they can keep it up and don't peak early like the last few years, they WILL get back in the Top 6 again for the first time since 2005 (1999 before that)! This show is so incredibly emotional and it's being performed amazingly well. That drumline is smoking this year too! I'm just blown away by this show! Get it, Men of Madison!!! The Cavaliers: When I saw this show at the tour premiere, I felt the Cavaliers were still in trouble. They came up in scores since, but I still think they're in trouble this year. I really don't think last year is going to be like 1997 and this year like 1998 at all. On first read, this show just felt like a jumbled mess that was dirty as sin ... and that's bad considering the Cavaliers used to be the pinnacle of visual performance. PLus, it seemed like they couldn't even play together throughout the show. On second read from a performance basically a week later, I don't see them getting any better. They're still not playing together. They're a hot mess visually. They just don't look or sound that great. I know there's a lot of tour left still, but I honestly don't see them placing any higher than 10th this year when all is said and done unless they work their ###es off more than anyone else does. And this is a sad thing, because I used to love The Cavaliers. Their older shows are still some of my favorites -- 2000, 2001, 2003, 2004, 2008? When can we have The cavaliers like that again? Also, they're using John Mackey and "Enterprising Young Men." This is something that I should love at face value because I love anything John Mackey and love the new STAR TREK soundtracks. But, I don't even like their arrangements. I heard "Enterprising Young Men" done better at SCBDA 5A Finals in 2010 by the James F. Byrnes High School Band. Just saying. There's a lot wrong with this show that I don't think can be fixed in time. Now, here are my predictions: Madison Scouts Spirit of Atlanta ---------------------Within probably The Cavaliers Crossmen Blue Stars Troopers ---------------------one point Colts
  8. I honestly think it's a good possibility and I hope it does happen!!!
  9. I will be attending DCI Southeastern and DCI World Championships. I will also be watching all of the Webcasts for events I'm not attending. I may not be able to watch the FULL webcast (as I work every Saturday right now), but I hope to watch most of each. In fact, DCI Southeastern is technically part of my Bachelor Weekend. There's only going to be myself, my best man and one, perhaps two, of my Groomsmen going as the others ended up having other plans, but we decided to just make that "part 1" and have a guys night or something the day before the wedding in April.
  10. We get it ... please move on. Besides ... EVERY show is incomplete until it's final performance. All shows are constantly evolving throughout the summer. So, no show is truly finished or complete until the final performance of that show during World Championships -- or earlier for those Open Class corps who don't make the trip to World Championships.
  11. In the preshow/opener ... there are two girls saying the words. The constant 1 2 3 4 1 2 3 4 5 6 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 is being played by a pit member through samples. I think there's one other small section for 4-8 measures early on that is sampled, and doubled in the live vocals, but that is all that I'm aware of.
  12. I believe that the all blue one is for the Major. The guy wearing it, if I'm not mistaken, was the Major last year, so that would make sense to me.
  13. Honestly, I personally loved the 2008 show. I was on tour with Crown as their on tour videographer/editor and I always loved when Bones were going to be at a show. It was one of my favorite shows of the summer and still one of my favorite Crossmen shows of all time. I pulled HARD for you guys to get into Finals. You really deserved it ... Even if the scores didn't reflect that.
  14. I can confirm this. If this is the same storm we're talking about, it was brewing during the Recording Session. I was working for Box 5 and I remember scrambling to get the equipment packed up. We just barely got the trailer door closed when the sky opened up on us. It was BAD!!! Is that the day you're talking about?
  15. Corrected. LOL!!! Yes ... I've seen SUPER TROOPERS WAY too much!
  16. I don't know ... Maybe ask the 2012 BD Design team? Just saying ... all the BD honks last year were telling anyone who didn't like the show that, if they researched Dada, they'd get it and love the show. I don't think any corps should make a show that you have to research to get ... even Crown. And, honestly, I don't see that any research is necessary on this show like it supposedly was on "Cabaret Voltaire." I have done no research into EotB and I love this show! :worthy:/>
  17. So, letting Crown know that a video of them marching and playing in their FIRST FULL RUN of the season ... when that run came after just finishing the closer that same day ... is up on YouTube is being "that guy?" Don't you think Crown has the right to refine their show more before people see it?
  18. The point is that you respect the corps desire to be able to release information when they wanted to. It's just like spoilers. Take this for example: There was a production issue where the Series 7, Part 2 DVD/Blu-ray box sets of Doctor Who for Region 1 were sent out to pre-order customers a week before the final episode aired on TV. The production team begged those who got those early to NOT spoil the final episode. The fans listened. No one spoiled it. Honestly, even though it's an exaggeration, I believe that applies here as well. We, as fans, should respect the corps decision to release information whenever they want to. It's about respect. That's all I'm getting at. It's like when I took some pictures in a continuous format (like three pictures a second) of the drumline learning some drill in Spring Training and posted it on Facebook, Jim asked me to take them down because it showed what they were doing before they were ready. I honestly had no clue it did that and immediately took them down until after people had seen the show. I know this was a long response, but that's what I'm getting at here. Just respect the corps decision to be able to surprise people with things like this when they're ready.
  19. Trust me ... it WILL! I've seen pictures. Phantom is still basically black and white with some interesting shoulder stuff. Crown is a drastic redesign.
  20. Weather permitting, of course. If history and current weather forecast is any indication ... the dress rehearsal may end up like last year -- arced up with no electronics and no uniform. Will certainly be interesting if that's the case. I'm hoping that the weather will clear up for tomorrow and not rain AT ALL and then Monday too. I really want to be there both days and get to watch a lot of rehearsal. I won't get to on Sunday because I'm doing some work for them in the morning and then doing some stuff with my fiancée who lives 5 minutes from GWU (including looking at a potential house) between noon and 8. So, I won't see any rehearsal tomorrow. That's why I'm hoping weather will clear up for Monday too. But, yes, when pictures start circulating (which hopefully won't be until Crown releases an official picture), this place will EXPLODE!!
  21. yeah, that could either be a Power Rangers RPM reference (the much better series) or a Engine Sentai Go-Onger reference (the original Japanese series that RPM was based on). LOL!! Sorry -- I know I'm a geek. It's in my screen name, after all! :)
  22. I will say that if there are vocals, amplified or not, I have complete faith in the design team at Crown. It will be tasteful, appropriate and not overbearing. I know they will do it right.
  23. I mean, really? How could someone red neg that??? That makes absolutely no sense! EDIT: And then, after I post, two more people red neg'ed the previous post and the one I quoted. I just don't see how people can do things like that. If you're saying "Oh, well, they should've had it worked out by now," did you ever think that they did and the school backed out? That can happen. Regardless, it's incredibly insensitive to red neg someone for trying to pass on a message that Crown needs help finding housing for a certain date. Think about the message that sends before you do that again. Sorry -- that just infuriated me that someone would do that.
