  1. Woo, that was a really fun way to open the season. Really windy and really difficult to get into the stadium, but great none the less. Here's my thoughts on the corps. Blue stars: didn't get to see all of the show cause I watched from the stairs. I really like the music, but I have no idea how it went visually. Scv: wow. I was really excited for the show, but it was very hard to follow. Just not as exciting as I wanted. Phantom: WOW. This show is just really cool. The theme is apparent, but at times there's really no stry. The music is loud and exciting. Very cool show. Cadets: another really cool show. The theme is apparent as the corps is split in two. Guard is nice with opposite unis, and the drill is crazy at the end. Crown: probably my favorite show. Yes, it was cheesy at times, but the crowd really got into it and it was fun to watch. The brass feature was insane, and I'm ready for this show to surprise me later in the summer. Bluecoats: disappointed and confused. Their show last year was one of my favorites, but I was just perplexed at what the show was about. The crowd chuckled at the "where the he'll am I" quotes, which I don't think was the desired response. Music is cool at times, yet the theme seems over conceptualized. Cavies: I hadn't really understood the theme before I saw them, but they really did some things that were extraordinary. Music was loud and cool and drill was nice. Drums playing upside down was the favorite of the night. Straight applause for about 30 seconds. Hope this show can go for the title. Bd: clean and full of melody. I like the unis but the show overall doesn't wow me. The execution was great, but just not my favorite. Favorites: 1. Crown. 2. Phantom. 3. Cavies 4. Cadets. 5. Blue stars. 6. Bd. 7. Bluecoats 8. Vanguard Predictions: 1. Blue devils 2. Cavies 3. Crown 4. Cadets. 5. Phantom 6. Bluecoats. 7. Blue stars. 8. Vanguard

  3. Sorry guys! To intent on watching but everything was incredible! My friend told me that crown was FAR better than the Dallas show
  4. Bluecoats. Before the show even starts, let me just say I LOVE this show! Anyways, their theme is top notch, and I love their design. They sure can perform! Wow
  5. Boston crusaders. Wow. Nice to see a 70th anniversary! Very cool to have drum corps around this long :). Cool opening set. Very effective in relation totheme. I love me some Shostakovich! Visuals are so effective, yet when at this level of corps, one or two out of line, it's so blatant. Loud agressive and awesome. Percussion feature is pretty BA© :) guard is having a pretty clean run. Ripple in the ballad was super clean. Throne was a nice soloist platform. Huge dynamic control in the ballad. Good show, but I prefer last years just a little more.
  6. Colts. Lol thought it was Boston from last year cause the red and the all white guard uni x). Agressive, colorful opening. Pretty cool visuals, though not always together. Guard very integrated into the drill. Pit very effective. Love the random pops of color. Essential to theme. Overall drill can get messy at times. Spacing can get rough.n the show is somewhat whimsical, love the true colors duet. Nice show, but it was pretty hard for them to follow scots, ESp.in terms of crowd appeal
  7. Madison scouts. Classy Entrance. Full of prescence. Love the opening. It's great to hear just good music. Pretty clean rifle line. Significantly better than years past. Nice soloists. Cute body twist visual. Several sceams of approval throughout the show. Pretty nice percussion, but the brass is the star. Lots of applause for rhapsody solo. I'm usually "the" theme guy, but this was great. Untitled, recognizable music. Very crowd friendly. There are times where there is a lot going on though. The crowds favorite by far so far. Congrats scouts. Standing o.
  8. Crossmen. Wow, circle are gutsy since they're so hard to clean. I see bones!!!!! Nice Quasihometown support. Really cool opening drill move. Really nice full sound. Great guard design. Individual marching is a weaker aspect. Pit is pretty strong. They're pretty secure musically. Awesome crescendo in the ballad. They don't seem to be matching the trend of more advanced choreography, but the body stuff they do is pretty cool. Lots of backfield in this show, which is not my personal fav. Biggest concern is they need to clean individual marching. Pretty neat show.
  9. Spirit. Great effects from pit. I never knew forging an icon could be so demented x). Theme is clearly established, and I love the source music to this show. This can definitely be a memorable show. Super cool muted feature. They actually interacted with their chain link props! Brass is strongest element, while drill forms can be weaker than their playing. Very surprised. Great show, spirit!!
  10. Teal sound. Very professional entrance. Cool preshow. Nice rifle tosses. Nice full, brassy sound. Marching as a whole seemed flat footed. Guard and percussion quite strong. Phasing issue with pit and contra feature. Reminds me a little of an earlier Crown. Theme not clearly conveyed through show, though impressed with the ammoun. Of choreo there is from the whole corps. Lacking on theme/ concept development, yet I was very much impressed by my first watching of teal.
  11. Revolution. Nice "salvation" warm up that dropped to one person. Pretty nice dynamic contrast. Soloists are the highlight of the show. Faster marching shows in their sound. Guard was ok with worked, though ensembally, their timing was off. Nice theme reflected through the agression of turbine. The mysterious cloaked figure lost it's intimidation as the entire bottom of the cape was covered in turf. Company front was surprisingly straight. In the end, darkness comes out on top.
  12. Genesis. Nice on field warm up. Small guard, but understandable for their first year in comp. Pretty agressive opening. Percussion seems to be the strong point.some cool soloists and brass hits in the ballad. Visual seems to be their weakness but pretty cool jazz show.
  13. Alright dcp! In the stands, ready for this southwestern bloodbath!

  17. hey guidry, when are you posting this year's shows on yata? i check it frequently.... ....i'm ready for marching season
  18. Torke's will almost definitely consist of the color suite, considering the title of the show - Could be: "Ash, Bright Blue Music, Ecstatic Orange, Green, or Purple"....also could be "sax concerto Mvt.3 or Javelin" because of bands/corps using them for color shows
  19. Mandarins 2010 are proud to present! 2010 Program: "To Dream of Far Away Lands" The Caravan Meetings Along the Edge, Ravi Shankar/Philip Glass To Dream of Far Away Lands The Mountain of Fruit and Flowers, David Buckley The Threat of Mongols / The Himalayas Samudra Manthan, Shivkumar Sharma Discovering India Quiet, Sheila Chandra Ever So Lonely, Monsoon Arrival in China Ambush from Ten Sides, Chicago Symphony Orchestra / Yo-Yo Ma mandarins.org/about/info.html
  20. Sorry if i sound stupid, but I'm a junior in high school and extremely interested in corps, yet I play clarinet and I don't plan on learning a brass instrument any time soon. I was wondering if individual corps had internships for the summer? I know DCI has some but are for sophomores or older in college. If anyone could bestow or guide me to further information, I would greatly appreciate it
  21. i would like to hear Stravinsky's Dumbarton Oaks Concerto Mvt. 1 I played it my sophomore year and I think Crown would dominate that piece. and some Michael Torke Sax Concerto Mvt. 3, please
  22. a little bird told me that the theme has something close to "Toy Soldiers"
