I know for a fact that Boston held their audition camp last November at Guyer HS, Denton, TX. A great corps and excellent staff no doubt, but of course I'm a little biased!
I personally never paid much attention to hash marks for the most part. I marched in relationship to other corps members and not to the field. Hash marks and yard lines were reference points...they were just not gospel. Truth is I marched our show frequently on an empty parking lot in South Boston without hashes. We just learned to march in relationship to each other, and adjusted for each other's mistakes (if any).
Honestly I have no idea what the theme is...and I really don't care either because themes are not very important to me personally...It is just some of the most impressive brass, percussion, and guard work I have ever seen on the drum corps field IMO...bar none...this show literally blows my mind every time I watch/listen to it...my only trepidation is the visual might not be clean enough by finals...Go Crown!
It's funny...I must have listened/watched the 99 video of BAC at least 100 times already and I missed that...I think it's someone in the audience that got picked up on the microphone honestly doing a bad rendition of "the pretty girl whistle sound" here...I don't think that there would really be a purpose musically right there for that sound?...but I could be wrong...I think this question is best answered by someone who marched it and preferably someone from the percussion section I'd imagine.
I'm not sure why Crossmen have stalled...it seems from what I'm hearing versus what they are getting is NOT congruent...oh well...I at least got to enjoy their show at Jackson. Go bones!
