  1. While I prefer Garfield's '87 version, there's an overlooked point here: Garfield's show was designed to win. SCV's show was designed to not be 7th.
  2. Ha ha....this is awesome. I'm reminded of Beavis and Butthead...."HIGHER! FASTER! BOX 5!!! BOX 5!!!! BOX 5!!! huh huh huh."
  3. Probably because Krenek, Sibelius, Albert, Colgrass, Stucky, and the others are 20th century pieces of schlock that the vast majority of drum corps fans would most likely not want to see/hear performed on a football field.
  4. Uhhhh...I'm pretty sure that DCI is still here today because of the great work that Dan Acheson does. I'm sure it's not an easy job. Even more thankless now....due to armchair quarterbacks like yourself taking cheap pot shots like this.
  5. Because signature moves don't win DCI. Innovation and creativity do.
  6. Haven't seen it on the vids. I hope they don't put it in, they're not going to move up competitively if they keep doing the same things over, and over and over and over....
  7. Agreed. It's nice that's she's toasting the audience, and not the endzone. Much more heartfelt and direct.
  8. Actually, I was agreeing with you, Kieren. You have a better sense of what's going wrong than anyone else. I'm in the process of writing an email to their staff with a list of suggested changes, and a query as to why they have chosen to field a show that clearly will not win DCI. Also....you can all praise Fielder as much as you want....he's not designing the show, he's making the buses run.
  9. None of this is surprising....their writer is a reclusive eccentric and SCV never knows what he's going to do next. I understand that he lives in France, so refusing to alter his "masterpiece" even one iota seems completely par for the course. Also, Kieren, keep waiting by the phone.....I hear that they are looking for a good drill writer.....one who can identify problems like slow transitions, using the drums to carry the motion, and clumps.
  10. Sorry folks, didn't mean to cause mass hysteria. Just passing on what I heard. Crm....if you too have a contact close to the organization, see if you can find out why their drill isn't nearly as difficult as it has been the past few years. I've heard reasons, but no sense in stirring the soup more than I already have.
  11. Just heard from a staffer that their current drill writer is on the way out, and a former drill writer is on the way back in!
  12. Was that from a reliable source? Because I heard that they are making drastic changes with some of their designers (hint hint visual)....some reliable intel from an inside source. I may get my wish after all.
