  1. Correction: The independent drumline that performed is called "The Kenosha Beats". I'm pretty sure there's evidence of our existence on YouTube. Edited for REALLY stupid grammatical error - DUH!
  2. Andy, i JUST got home and received your email (it's about 9:50PM right now) but i'm glad to see that you've already spoken with Billy in regards to all of the above. Hey Matt... wink wink nudge nudge ...potential snare... nudge nudge. Email me and i'll send you the rest of the book. Anyhow, I haven't seen the two of you in AGES! Stop by camp this weekend if you get a chance.
  3. DUDE - HAVE YOU READ THE RECAPS?? We hit box-5 with comments on a visual sheet and you say THAT? You have no idea what you're talking about!! I really like how you tell ME though - knowing fully that i'm on the design and instructional staff - what kept my corps out of finals. You're a piece o' work man, i tell ya. Now that BOTH of your feet are in your mouth, i'll draw you a picture. It's is called FACT, not speculation. Look and the FACTS and (try to) deduce again what kept us out of finals. I've left it in plain black & white so that there's no confusion. Field Visual 11th Ensemble Vis. 10th Guard 15th Field Percussion 15th Ensemble Perc. 10th Field Brass 11th Ens Brass 8th Vis Effect 1 11th Vis Effect 2 11th Music effect 1 8th Music effect 2 11th I have nothing else to say to you.
  4. DCM- I like that line about the whizzin', that's good. If you don't mind i'm going to borrow it from time to time. ^OO^ As for moving on, i agree (hence my absence from the conversation.) Feedback is one thing, but needless repetition is another. Hard work and mental-focus is what it takes, not going on and on with the problems from last year. CJT
  5. dude, you're foot is firmly where it was when you started this. IT'S ALL OPINIONATED SPECULATION. You have NO fact. The first quote is Dan making sense (ie: prelims should be everyone's best performance but under conditions it couldn't ahve been.) The next two is james carrying on, sure, but you still have yet to find the part where "DCA purposely kept us out of finals". i told you i want a direct quote and you still don't have one. Yes, James is ######. I would be too if i dropped that much cash on an 11th place season (yes i too received 11th but i have NO regrets, not even about "we shoulda gone on on sunday" or something. What happened happened.) and yes he may be dragging it on, but it's his right to. I disagree with him BUT tha'ts life. As i said, i only jumped in this conversation cuz you're bashing my corps over the satements/actions of two people, NOT any officialy corps representatives or official statements. TWO people.... ANd you still haven't quoted anything... only speculated. The only thing that kept the Kilties out of finals this year was the same as last year: There were 10 groups that performed better! I am DANG proud of our highest score to date AND my 11th place!! CJT
  6. I said i want a direct quote, not you're opinion. If you admitt that that comment was your opinion and NOT fact (which we all know), i'll take that for what little it's worth to me at this point . But when you put words in my corps' mouth, OR accuse my corps and its members of something (which by the way, just cuz shadow says it doesn't mean we all say it... same goes with dan or anyone else from any other corps on any other topic), i want to see hard facts to back them up, not blasts on dan & shadow that lead to question dodging. Again... Where's the quote? - and don't give me "well if you read into this" and "if you look at it like this" with all these snips and clips of other peoples posts. I want a direct quote. At the moment you have a severe case of foot-in-mouth syndrome... CJT PS - i don't get involved in thread's like this very often (if at all), but when someone starts whizzin' on my lawn without reason, you'll hear from me.
  7. You have added absolutely nothing to this conversation by saying that. You have the social equivalence to a streaker at this point for doing so. I hope you trip on a rock and bend your wookie ($1 to ralph wiggum).
  8. Who said that? Find me a quote. I haven't kept up with all 42 pages of this thread so i'd really like to know exactly where those words are to see them for myself. Don't get me wrong. I'm not jumpin on ya here, jeff (if you don't mind me using your first name). I'd just like to see your source. Best, CJT
  9. Ohhhhhhhhh, I see. THANK YOU for the clarification and sorry if i brought up bad blood and inserted my foot in my mouth. So back to topic, I don't recall ever seeing a kit player in DCA... Best CJT
  10. so i did a google and found that Steve Gadd is a Rochester Crusader alum, but i have yet to prove my own comment true... I'm not saying it is, by all means. I'm probably wrong in fact. A little help anyone?... anyone?? Beuhller?? Frye?? Egg on my face, CJT
  11. i didn't see it with my own eyes so it very well may be...
  12. Steve Gadd played with someone's Minicorps in 05, but i forget who (all apologies to that corps) Best, CJT
  13. Phantom 93, The Fire of Eternal Glory Best CJT
  14. They're pretty heavy (even though they're not traditional one-piece, meaning that the kilt and plaid over the shoulder are not all one piece) and the rain adds 5 pounds (Once soaked, it smells like a wet dog) but it's not the kilt that gets hot to me. Rather, the knee-sox, shoes, and spats layered on my feet. Some folks DO think the kilts are hot so they get "summer" kilts with lighter wool. CJT EDIT: PS - sorry for going OT. back ON topic, thank you for the kind words. Everyone in the corps, as far as i know, is extremely happy with the outcome of our season even though we didn't breakdown the door to Top-10-dom. We made GREAT strides as a corps and as a family together this year and i look forward to moving ahead again in 2007. www.kilties.org ... BE A PART OF IT!
  15. i knew he wasn't fired or anything, but i didn't know he was taking a break from the activity. For clarity - i'm not saying he should or shouldn't or anything like that, yadayada. I'm just sayin, "i woudln't be surprised..." due to the large role he played in the past. "You can't stop here man! This is bat-country!" ;) best, CJT
  16. please keep on-topic and leave that stuff in PM so that folks who want to read the subject-at-hand can do so. thamsk CJT
  17. I've had the pleasure to know Jeff since 99. He's one of the greatest peformers, teachers, and people that i've ever met. Jeff! You DA MAN! Congratulations to you and the corps on your new position. Looking forward to seeing Madison in 07!, CJT
  18. Thanks for the props, brother! It was a pleasure to perform. Cool medal, too! Best CJT
  19. I'm partial to the Bachman books (Bass Logic, Quad Logic, Rudimental Logic. GREAT for "newbs"), Freytag's Rudimental Cookbook (it has some technique stuff in the beginning, but the solos progress pretty quickly for beinngers in terms of difficulty. LOTS of technique needed to play these properly), and Wessel's Fresh Approach (I realize Fresh Approach is not strictly a marching book, but it's LOADED with great educational techniques and information up the wazzoo: 2 play-along discs, a DVD, and 40-rudiment poster) My suggestion is to get all 4 books. The Wessels and Bachman lay out the technique PERFECTLY (from rebound strokes to down strokes to great techniques for teaching up strokes, sweep technique, BD technique, etc) and then you can use the cookbook to build chops. Best CJT
  20. Bill Bachman has an excellent book out called "Bass Logic" (also Quad Logic, and Rudimental Logic). The name says it all. Give it a look. I believe it's available through Roll-Off Publications. (edit) PS - As for "free" online sheet music, Anders up above said it the best IMO... usually college sites or tribute sites.
  21. Just thought of another... "The Four Rotations" by Eric Sammut. I've only performed #1 (dedicated to Gordon Stout), but for time-sake, it's worth a look at. The notes are the easy parts to learn... it's finding the music within. too bad we don't have longer for I/E. Pieces like "Hook" by Graham Fitkin (marimba quartet for 4 Low-A's and kick-drums and rotos) would be PERFECT for the venue.
