I Miss the Old Days...

I believe the spelling is intentional - appreciation of irony can be challenging to some. -

Angry little birdy, aren't we? Any truth to the rumor that the Blue Devils have applied for exclusivity to be the only corps to use the color blue in their name? #### those Knights, coats and Stars. Next they will take on Duke University, and then finally Satan himself. Got to love the Cadets - an open book, warts and all. -

Show Annoucements - Open Class Edition

How is the Winter going in Oregon? Is the corps of similar size to last year? If they maintain last year's members and get a year older I would expect them to be contenders. -

SDCA First Show
HardCorp replied to cwowms's topic in DCA All-Age Corps and Alumni Corps Show & Event Reviews
It was great to see the Blue Saints perform again. I thought that DCI was very unfair to the corps. Entertainment! What is better than seeing 7 year old kids run around with squirt guys? Way better than drums, horns & guard. Do you guys still sleep outside under the tent between the trucks? -
Show Annoucements - Open Class Edition
HardCorp replied to Jared315's topic in DCI Open Class Corps Discussions
Pursuit... of a drumline that will be clean at finals... Geez, what a thinly veiled attempt at saying 'we are so obsessed about winning we will remind you every way we can". Something tells me this is the year of OC or Citations or maybe even Teal Sound. -
Blue Stars 2009 Show Announcement

I love shows about engines of freedom, choo choo. Enabler of personal freedom? Sounds too much like a therapy session between a corps director and his psychologist. -

Blue Stars 2009 Show Announcement
HardCorp replied to AlexL's topic in DCI World Class Corps Discussions
It is a very good show concept. I liked it in 1995 when the Cadets did it. An American Quintet - The Reivers * Born on the 4th of July * Blowing Off Steam (from Far and Away) * Swing, Swing, Swing (from 1941) * Land Race (from Far and Away) I liked it the Cadets in 2002 An American Revival - Times Square (from On the Town) * The Place Where Dreams Come True (from Field of Dreams) * Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy * New York Memories * America The Beautiful and I liked it when the Crusaders did it in 2002. You Are My Star - Intro to Appalachian Spring * The American President * Allegro from Appalachian Spring * America * Clarinet Concerto * You Are My Star * Simple Gifts from Appalachian Spring Best thing about the 02 show was the sayings on scrolls. Very creative - I fear the Blue Stars will now use voice to utter the defining statements of each segment, much like they did in 06.[/i Truth be told, I am tiring of this formulaic BOA slice of American History program. For a corps looking to move up in the rankings I don't see this as a old move, but one long commercial for inspiremusic. "The Factory - not a good place to work, unless it's the Strohs Factory in Milwaukee" "Boston used to be very hardcore" Boston also used to not be in finals... However, this is a Blue Stars Show Announcement thread. Your observation about the staff similarities between Weinstein-era Boston and current BS is spot on, and I'm surprised more people aren't making that connection. Boston 2002 anyone? -

Yes, I did see 2005. I saw the Blue Devils finish 5th in vis performance, 3rd in guard, 4th in brass & 4th in percussion. Which years are you referring to in which BD did not receive enough credit for performance excellence?
