  1. The PBR gives two championships out every season - overall season champion, and PBR finals champion. I guess that you could use a system like that to justify who was the best corps "overall" for the season.
  2. Holy there's going to be a lot of competition this season Batman!
  3. Eh, I haven't really been amazed by their camp results, but I could be biased because I'd like my fantasy corps to do really well this season.
  4. You know, screw news...and other preguesstimates. 1. Pioneer 2. Blue Devils C 3. Blue Devils B 4. Blue Devils A 5. Star of Indiana 6. Bridgemen 7. The PhilharCORPSmonic (my fantasy corps) 8. The Entertainment Effect Task Force 9. Avon Marching Band 10. INT 11. Brett Favre 12. Antoine Dodson
  5. Most of you know "Music for Strings, Percussion, and Celesta" by Bela Bartok from its famous performance with Star of Indiana in 1993. Star's version is a very good representation of this wonderful piece, yet I'd suggest listening to all four movements from the original version of Bartok's famous work. It should give you a different view of the piece, besides just hearing it from Star '93. Oh, and I'd suggest not listening to it in the dark. Movement 1 - Movement 2 - Movement 3 - Movement 4 -
  6. EWWWWWWWWW I own a standard gold 1.5c and it plays/produces/projects the same tone as the megatones. I've found out/heard from many people that this piece is a waste of money. If you really want to take your time and invest into a genuine mouthpiece, go for a Monette. They are costly but they are definitely worth your money (that's if you play freely and open).
  7. There's another thing I've noticed. Since 2005, the Cadets have been having an interesting trend as well. 2005 - 1st 2006 - 5th 2007 - 2nd 2008 - 5th 2009 - 3rd 2010 - 5th And the way things are stacking up, I can see them taking 4th. Interesting? I think yes.
  8. I went to BOA Grand Nationals (yes I know it's marching band - get over it). I remember there being excellent acoustics. I felt like I could hear every section equally. When there were backfield sections, the sound didn't drown out - it resonated. It also exposes weaknesses. For instance, if there was a band that didn't play confidently, you couldn't hear them as well.
  9. New finalist as in a corps who hasn't made World Finals (i.e. The Academy)?
  10. 1. Cavaliers 2. Bluecoats 3. Blue Devils 4. Cadets 5. Santa Clara Vanguard 6. Carolina Crown 7. Phantom Regiment 8. Madison Scouts 9. Blue Knights (I have my biased opinion) 10. Blue Stars 11. Boston Crusaders 12. The Academy ------------------------ 13. Glassmen 14. Colts 15. Crossmen 16. Troopers 17. Spirit of Atlanta ------------------------ 18. Teal Sound 19. Mandarins 20. Pacific Crest 21. Cascades 22. Pioneer 23. Jersey Surf (minus open class corps)
  11. I'm sorry about my "older population" comment, it just seems like every proposal/change in the activity is frowned upon. I personally love DCI finals being in LOS. I feel acoustically it produces a "concert hall-like" sound. I know that's what people don't want to see/hear, but I believe that the best sound quality possible is the right way to go - even if it does take a dome's help. Again, I'm sorry for my last comment sounding so harsh.
  12. Also DCI and Lucas Oil Stadium have a five year contract. I don't see any college stadiums offering that. Plus LOS is in a more populated city then, lets say, Camp Randell. It should attract a newer fan base, which is what DCI is ultimately trying to do - get newer faces into the seats of the events. Yes DCI does try to keep older fans in the picture, but from what I've seen is that the older fans just want to push innovation down the drain. If it were up to the older population of fans then we'd still be high stepping, marching in symmetrical drill, and playing show tunes. That's not what I want to do (especially as someone currently involved in the drum corps activity).
  13. Not to mention, yes Cavies did win in 2001, but I guess it was an "odd" and underrated 1st place title.
  14. http://www.facebook.com/drumcorpsinternational The video is on the DCI-Facebook page!
  15. Sorry about that. I added them. The funny thing is while I was creating this poll I was looking on www.dci.org to make sure I didn't miss a corps. Oops...
  16. Which is why the Blue Knights are going to be a hit this year! (If you know your concert band literature)
  17. Your choice can be determined through what you have seen from production updates, camp videos, hype, bias, if you're marching for that corps, if you've marched for that corps, if you work for that corps, if you volunteer for that corps, if you're just on the bandwagon (corpswagon?), or whatever! Just vote for the corps that you anticipating the most to see for the 2011 DCI season! P.S. Discussion would be FANTASTIC!
