  1. Who's on first? ... sorry I'll blame my son!!
  2. Don't I know it .. I think I'm already on the 4th or 5th thing to go!!! Can I blame my son for how tired I STILL am from Pasadena (4-5 hour drive round trip) and Vista back to back?
  3. Well shoot I'm sorry I wasn't paying attention to see the 1930 .. I'll blame my son LOL.
  4. From what I've been told, if someone misses the final run through, they do not perform that night and the staff literally has to "re-write" if you wil, how that person's chair will be handled. Maybe I missed something while watching (or concentrated too much on my son) but do the chairs at some point form the numbers "1930"? (ok laugh at me if need be, I can take it! )
  5. That must have been fun to watch! I know at least BD had a free day, which from having seen my son Sunday, was well needed!! I read the scoring system was different for this show and not DCI .. I can't find scores anywhere, anyone have any luck?
  6. Thanks for the reply. I had a feeling this was why considering that corp members come from all over. Cool. Thanks again!
  7. Please don't slam me for asking, but why is where corps are housing an interest of folks? Is this so they can do watch them rehearse? Is this the type of information corps would want made "public"? Again, just curious.
  8. After searching the thread as to not repeat a score .. I'll say Blue Devils 90.45 Houston (couldn't remember is we had to put when)
  9. I was just talking about this this very subject with someone tonight, I was shocked when I saw the wave being done, and beach balls in the stands DURING shows last night. I thought "These cannot be true drum corp fans" must have been there for the fireworks. Even the vendors selling soda, pop corn .. etc again during shows! It was nice to be around folks that understand the "rules". I also should add, as much of a BD homer that I am, I really do like the Bluecoats show. They're quickly becoming my #2 corp!!
  10. Went to this show, along with last night at Pasadena, I'll tell you what, it was night and day with each corp! From the smallest open class to as much as BD rocked the stands WOW .. I can't imagine Indy in 5 weeks. It's going to be an exciting summer! They all sounded so much better tonight, maybe it's the smaller stadium, the fact that it was exhibition last night, or just good rehearsals today, but it was an amazing night all around!
  11. Blue Devils are at Oceanside High School .. rehearsing right now in fact.
  12. WOW .. I must say that is impressive! I keep telling them .. "You shouldn't catch with your face!" LOL .. I love the fact that he finished the show as if nothing happened!!
  13. I respect all those that have and are marching. I really never understood the desire and dedication needed to march a drum corp until this year. My son is a first year corp guard member. I have some additional respect for him, not only because he's my son, but because #1, he's only 17 and made the corp, but #2, when I told him we couldn't afford to pay for his fall season at the HS he marches with, the Winter Guard that travels to Dayton each year AND the drum corp fees, he not only got a job to help, he put EVERY pay check away until his summer fees were paid for. Call this bragging if you will (and yes I'm doing that as well) but I really respect the fact that he wanted this SO BAD he made it happen, I guess you can say I'm a PROUD Guard Dad!!
  14. Well the way it was presented/asked was RUDE .. ask if you want to ask, but don't put out there like it was. Maybe we don't totally understand the way visual and GE are scored (or will we ever). Ask questions, but do it better.
  15. I'm new to this forum, and new to drum corp, but have been around HS marching band, and color guard (thus the Guard-Dad) now for about 6 years. I watch the topics here because IN MOST CASES folks say some pretty interesting things, things I don't see when watching a show, or think about ... BUT ... When someone comes on and says something like you did! Unless rules are different for drum corp what exactly are they "getting away with"? Are there rules about using props for a show? I'm a big proponent of cheering on other groups, applauding when it's great show, wishing them "good skills" as is done in the CG side of things, and insist on this from the kids at the high school I work with, it's called respect for what they are doing, for the hard work they've put into this and continue to put forth, for doing something they LOVE to do. Unless you are rehearsing 10+ hours a day or out on the field, how can you sit there and criticize ANY group for what they are doing ?! To resort to statements like "could get away with this nonsense" or "SITTING IN A ****ING CHAIR". This is ridiculous. Constructive criticism sure that I can read and think that person has their opinion and are entitled to it, but to slam another group (who you obviously dislike) the way you did is 100% uncalled for and in a word WRONG. Ok folks sorry, I’ll get off my soap box now. I just couldn’t sit back and not comment on this.
  16. OOPS! .. .ok it's not going to "R" .. this is cool, the school this is at "Rome Free Academy" we use to play in HS .. real close to my hometown. (ok, I officially feel OLD!) I just realized it's been about 21 years since then!!!
  17. BTW .. just got an email from someone in Rome, NY ... this event is sold out, BUT, there is a chance of rain
