  1. I see this trend, but with Cadets winning GE, it's only a matter of time before their execution scores improve. As it has been stated in numerous threads here, BD doesn't have the vehicle to get them there, especially with the force that Cadets are bringing. Crown may inch closer, but I still see them in 4th unless they REALLY dazzle the judges. My prediction: 1. Cadets 2. Cavaliers 3. Blue Devils 4. Carolina Crown
  2. I think I read on a blog somewhere that it is new. They also refined the Zipper move some more in the past few days.
  3. In an interesting turn of events, the Cadets beat the Cavaliers tonight. Discuss. (Fancy way of saying "bump")
  4. Haha! I hope you're not trying to hint to us that granny is a drag queen lol
  5. how about a 3-way tie between the top 3 as well lol, we'll get our money's worth for saturday night!
  6. haha... oops. I was thinking Footprints, but it came out Footsteps lol
  7. the song is called "Footsteps" which Vox One titled "Searching for You"
  8. Personally, I think that just because you can do something to enhance a show doesn't mean that it's appropriate for the show. A perfect example is the trend of adding body movement to a show, whether in a brass or drum feature. It caught on like wildfire and IMO did not enhance the shows that seemed to be doing it because it was the "in" thing to do. That said, just because BD doesn't have as demanding of drill (as some say), doesn't mean that it doesn't complete their show concept as they imagined or designed. The answer is all in what is found to be appropriate for any given show or corps style/identity.
  9. It's funny because there have been people in this thread that have legitimately counted out the Cadets this year, saying it was too big of a long shot... It's not over yet, but I feel like a move is being made... :worthy:
  10. body movement irks me, but that's about it... that and the stupid use of synths... but i think amplification is okay (i'm a pit person)
  11. Blue Stars percussion is near and dear to my heart because I have friends that march and teach there, and I was pleased to see that they got 1st place percussion last night! Go Stars!
  12. are you KIDDING ME????? but i'm glad you like the Sox as much as I do!!
  13. Well that's interesting... I wonder if he thought of that... (being sincere)
  14. What about all that working hard stuff and being a good performer? (i suppose that falls under execution?)
  15. SCV and BD are close. It's probably easier to decide who will not beat them.
  16. Cadets' DNA drill Z-pull (a long time ago) --- but when it was brought back, people enjoyed it. Body movement in drum features, but now we see it more within the hornline ....what's a bug squash?
  17. What about when a "gimmick" gets overused, like the Blue Devils body movement during the drum features? And then it spills into other shows the next year because designers think that's what the judges want to see? It's the most blatant copying of material for the appeal to the judges that I've ever seen. Many corps used that in the past 3 years or so and I think we're starting to get away from it.
  18. I have also thought the same about Cadets 2000. If the behind-the-back tenor feature on the front sideline didn't happen, kiss that championship goodbye. Then I decided that was foolish. There's plenty more less gimmicky stuff that deserves the merit they deserved. Good musicianship and visuals.
