Most of us have now been able to see and evaluate most or all of the shows. Since we have just pasted the mid-point of the season, make you selections. I realize surprises can and do happen. Give it a go for fun.

Definite improvement over 2010 and 2011.

There is some truth to this. I think the book could use a little more difficulty, but not much. I find their book can really be emotive for an audience.

The trend for SCV this year seems to be a continuous struggle in brass scoring. Can people who have heard their show live or have an inside perspective give some feedback on why this struggle exists? This is a great show this year for them, just want to know if people are hearing what the judges are hearing.

Sorry about that. Some of my previous statements have caused ire on a personal level for some. So, I've turned to questions.

If one looks at the overall critique in my posts concerning Crown this year, it has been their need to CLEAN the show, lone ranger. Beyond some minor dislikes about certain portion of it, I think it should win this year. Do I find it the most entertaining show I've seen this year? Not yet, but they are really starting to perform and sell it to the audience. Do I like the dancing section, which my wife calls synchronized swimming on grass? No, that will never appeal to me. Do I think their show generally tops all the others this year. Absolutely. Are there those on DCP that have no clue about my perspective? NO DOUBT!!!! Are there those on DCP that just need to stop communicating with me? YES!!!!!!!

There is NO WAY BD or anyone else should beat Crown in brass. Sorry...this judging opinion was plain wrong!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

In terms of quality, Crown beats BD by a long shot. Theirs is probably the most complex show ever produced. BD does what it does well, but quality goes to Crown. The members should be proud. Sorry, I just want Crown to beat BD so bad I can't stand it. Crown deserves to win with this show.

I feel little need to respond to what seem like demands rather than dialogue. If my opinion is somewhat upsetting, please feel free to ignore it. No offense intended, but if my opinions are a problem for you or anyone else, you can freely block them. Since splat has decided to ask these seemingly demanding questions on DCP, let me give you some background between this person and me. We marched together in Crown 22 years ago from 1990-92. We did not speak frequently during this time, nor during the off-seasons. I perceived splat as neither friend nor foe. Since 92, we have not significantly spoken to each other on personal terms in 20 years. So, after not conversing for 20 years, why should I feel pressure from splat to answer any questions? We are not even acquaintances any more. We have both changed and have different perspections of the DCI and probably other things as well. I bare no ill-will again splat, but simply wish him to cease this type of dialogue. Splat, I sincerely wish you nothing but the best, but this will be the last conversation I will have with you, as I am blocking all posts and conversations with you. Please attempt to view these comments in a neutral context. I am not your friend, foe, or otherwise. Thank you.

There isn't even a race between BD and Crown. Crown has yet to beat them in competition. So, right now BD is the winner. I do not like BD's show this year, but the fact is that Crown will not win unless they get cleaner and do it faster than BD. I don't see this happening, unless they start toning down some part of the difficulty in places.

The members of the Cavies do not suck this year. The staff, however, is a completely different matter.

Such a difficult show to perform, but they are really doing their best to work it. I really respect these guys this year, although I liked their show last year better.

I like the fact that the Colts are not afraid to play. They really make the effort to sell the show. Good job!!!!

Overall Crown performs this show VERY WELL!!!! It is not about performance. It's about cleaniness. They are not CLEAN. The draw spot is an excuse. If they don't clean, they will not win. It is as simple as that.

I honestly believe people need to stop making excuses for why Crown is not beating BD. They are not as clean as BD and they will not get there as long as the visual staff keeps changing and changing and changing what the members are doing on the field. Crown needs to focus on cleaning at this point, not CHANGING. If not, they will change themselves right out of contention. By the way, the Crown members are doing an EXCELLENT JOB performing the most difficult show in DCI right now. BD is clean, no doubt! But there show is not nearly as involved as Crown's. But, just because it is difficult and involved will mean little to nothing if it isn't clean by final's week.

Does anyone like their version of Nessum Dorma better from 1991?

The only thing Vanguard needs for this show is a little overall cleaning and they are good to go. I LOVE THIS SHOW!!!! It is my favorite this year. GO SCV!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :).

TOC tonight seems to equal depression :(.

Most of these top eight shows are so good, but the performances are just terrible tonight so far :(.

Thank you Mr. Dixon. Nothing Crown will do to this show means ANYTHING unless they are able to get it clean by finals. It doesn't matter how hard it is or what the potential is when you get to finals week. It only matters how clean the show is and is it performed well. BD and Cadets are masters at this.
