  1. So for winter, it's old corps. For summer is the current corps you pick from any class?
  2. They get there evaluation papers back in october that would say "Nay or Yay" to WC status. This is their second and final year of the process.
  3. Okay, this looks rather interesting to do. But i'm really confused about a few things. How does the scoring work, and how do the music take effect and the visuals, like formations work? This seems cool to do, but it is actually confusing. ps I did look around for stuff to solve this questions but im finding nothing.
  4. That was insane!! Awesome formations, wished they did it a tad bit slower though.
  5. Yes I was. (look at my signature for an awesome hint)
  6. Well, we are all stuck with watching drum corps at Lucas Oil stadium for the next 8 years. Would you ever go back there if the sound quality is crap? I sat in the stands at semi's, could hear the horns well... But the echo really killed the mood of the show and I could never hear the drums or pit. I really was sad to the fact that I didn't have a good quality experience at the finals, especially when it was my first time there.
  7. I was wondering what happened to the Spartans. I thought the spartans Drum Corps is awesome, not because our school's mascot is the spartan, but because of their uniforms and the music lol.
  8. Well if it ever gets passed. Will you guys never go to a drum corps show just to prove a point to the BoD's? I would, and the membership in drum corps will decline, and BOA members will never know the meaning of true drum corps tradition is like.
  9. I watched crown this year. The music is nice, but never heard the duts anywhere on the field. For any corps for that matter.
  10. I agree with you %100! DCI will become much like a mining industry. No resources, no mine.
  11. They may have. But Oakies took perfect score in 77'. First ever, talk about dominance there ;)
  12. I feel left out for some reason i wonder what that would be
  13. Wow, go to Open Class and read Teal Sounds thread. It's what they are talking about there. It's apparently a big thing this year and I want to know if it was :P.
  14. Woodwinds in drum corps. There's one thing that boggles my mind, and it's in a question, or two... maybe three, that I can't really answer for myself for the drum corps community. Will Woodwinds kill the drum corps activity? Will drum corps fan still go to watch drum corps even if there are woodwinds? What kind controversy will be expected to spark if having woodwinds in drum corps did get passed by the BoD? Will anyone in drum corps ever respect the activity again? Please be mature about it. I may be 19 and will be a drum corps fan when i'm older obviously, but I hate the way the BoD are killing the activity and making modern DCI a big joke to today's old classic drum corps fans and current drum corps advocates and members. I hate to see such an honourable challenging sport go down the drain because of some stupid irrational decisions being made by the BoD. Someone got to step up to the plate and say change it back, I might as well do that when I age out and take a stand at DCI, but something's got to be done NOW before it's to late, and it starts with YOU, the drum corps fans.
  15. I don't know if anyone said this yet. But let me try MY definition of how we put this together. Marching Band - A term of where a band meets a criteria of having what a high school "concert" band would have, only with the exception of a drumline. Drum and BUGLE corps. Having a drumline and BUGLE instrumentations. A BUGLE a horn which represents a certain kind of instruments that a marching band has. As I recall, weren't Drum and Bugle corps related to Drum and Fife corps? Just replaced the fife instruments with bugle horns, voila, Drum and Bugle Corps alittle something I took from wiki:
  16. Yes I am, and thanks alot! I like how drum corps really get into their themed shows *sighs*. Not only that I now know that corps are now adding special rendered effects, but the colorguard too have their own drill and story to tell, and it blows my mind how all this could happen, but the use of the sound effects may add alittle finese to the show, but there is already so much stuff happening on the field, it's not really necessary. Coming from the "Deaf guy", it totally kills drum corps activity. Also notice that most corps have mics over every instrument in the pit? I know the story behind that, but why is it necessary to boost the sound quality of the pit when it doesn't need to get any louder, seriously.
  17. I went to alot of shows and every corps I watched had a synth. Now i'm up in the stands and all I can hear are the Horns, drums and the marimbas. But I can't hear every other detail that happens in the pit. Someone care to explain what they do, the purpose for it and what sound it makes so I can open up my ears a bit more during shows to try and catch the sound?
  18. Not every corps doesn't have a booth. Blue Saints doesn't have one, memphis doesn't, Revolution doesn't, others don't as well. If they did, there would be a hardship of sales and there would be another type of competition in DCI.
  19. I just finished marching with blue saints, and ever since the first day I joined and attended the first rehearsal, we carried the drums all the way. We only have stands if it were a special occasion (practicing with pit or ensemble). Ever since the first day, my back developed good muscles and my shoulders were weak at first from carrying the drums, then it to adapated to the wieght of the drum and now my upper body is a marching machine. But what I didn't learn is that later on, before tour, been developing lower back problems, not simply from the weight of the drums considering I can support it. But from my posture, keep the back straight. I adjusted for the tour and kept my back straight the whole time, my back has been improving and hurts less now. But when I sit down, it cramps up. But i'm a sport lad, so i can have a nice stretch and I would feel new again. Now I can march long parades with out having to worry about back issues, as before at the start of the season, i did have issues and my whole back would hurt. Where I am getting at is that it's best to use the drums on the shoulders then the stands to develop good muscles in the shoulder and upper back. Got to use the right posture or it is gonna hurt in the long run. Use of stands doesn't help anything at all.
