  1. THIS THREAD should have it's own reality show! SO many twists and turns - it's like Real Housewives x 10
  2. so - cool clip from practice in MA - drums sound GREAT https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HXZIqBdRjpo
  3. well - my source is very credible - so there ya go. I think a simple misunderstanding!
  4. Essentially what I'm hearing is the corps uniforms are NOT changing. There are more changes to the other elements on the way, flags, music, drill etc Apparently someone overheard something and misunderstood. That's all.
  5. Precisely stated and very very true Sometimes it gets messy - but it's rarely dull and it's sometimes brilliant!
  6. Guys - I'm thinking some of this is just conjecture / rumor From what I'm hearing they are making some good changes to flags, closer adjusting, some staging changes to the "ballad" - but Cadets are in Black this year. The M&G are being utilized by C2 with some blue additions with the drums/plume. C2 last year used whites (from 12.25, half of which came from Angels & Demons show...) so very worn out and had to go The decision to keep Cadets in Black was made to reflect the dark nature of the show So... some changes are on the way, but not everything stated earlier in the thread So far the additions and revisions have been GREAT - let's keep it going Cadets!
  7. I've heard the opposite - the Cadets are in black this year. Period.
  8. Running to hide now. War is breaking out lol
  9. My judge comment was in reference to scoring design effectiveness and appropriateness. Also it bleeds over in GE. If a corps just tossed and tossed inappropriately the score would go down.
  10. The judges and they seem to figure it out quite well.
  11. Ditto. Allentown after PPL is like eating a salad after your ice cream sundae Such better sound, lights, seating etc in PPL
  12. Too many tosses? I have a few more similar issues with some shows this year, so far Crossmen show has too good a groove, Cadets drums are too tight, Phantoms solos are way too gorgeous and Coats props are too much fun.
  13. And the 12th name change to... wait for it.... TREES AWAKENING!!!
  14. More instruments to judge including amplified and reverb ones does make it more complex. Especially with the great range of techniques these days More variables makes it more complex. Simple math.
  15. How were they lower than sixth when they just beat cavaliers head to head by a very good spread? They were 1.5 ahead of them in Indy and then grew that. So behind BD, Crown, Coats is 4th. If you say they are or were behind SCV that would be 5th. I personally think they may end up challenging for a medal, but possibly not. But they aren't lower than sixth and frankly I'd say it's close to a lock they won't. A top 3 horn and drum score gets you 4th in most cases A lot of this is just people getting ahead of the data we actually have In San Antonio we will know more...
  16. Yup. But this thread is asking for a lock. I don't think we have one.
  17. Geez. It's 3 to 1.5 in ten days. It is what it is, a trend. The trend could change but right now Cadets are catching up quickly. And 1.5 points can be made up during finals week. Could. Again, not much in the way of facts other than we probably have five or more medal quality corps this srason at this early July perspective
  18. It's conjecture and opinion. No facts in this thread.
  19. woodwinds won't be voted in unless all the voting members start having problems filling their ranks - TRUST ME right now corps like Crossmen have 400-700 folks trying out... many many full sized corps that won't even make Semi And I agree - BD is quite different from Coats and Coats are quite different than Crown. Our top 3 corps are each unique. Throw in shows like BK/SCV style and others like Crossmen etc etc and you have a real party
  20. I completely agree. It doesn't always "work" - but the variety has never been better. Frankly in the 80s and early 90s when every corps was chasing Cadets symphonic literature with crazy drill - most fell way short, and some of the competitions were really boring with one flat attempt after another The talent and design level now is light years ahead I was in Allentown Thursday night and every corps was different. Loved it.
  21. There is a lot of melodic content on the field this summmer. Crown, Cadets, Regiment, BK, SCV, many many others...
