  1. this is a really good tune - a lot of high school bands have used it between 2009-2012, with great success in some cases the tone sounds right for the pines of rome - and I like the bells particularly (10:15 or so)... an interesting selection for sure... I also love the accelerando segment a lot leading out of the bells - a classic Cadet moment right there if they chose to use it: https://youtu.be/WBcQaJWqVO8?t=10m30s
  2. agree - BK is a rising force for sure. Both the 2014 and 2015 shows are designed so well.
  3. I also really liked the 2 opening minutes - fun stuff. Love that tune on the field: https://www.facebook.com/george.hopkins.yea/videos/10153303320361911/?theater
  4. looks like C2 had terrific turnout this past weekend in percussion and brass
  5. cool idea - I think we all can agree, Crown is very "able" and could tackle a number of different directions musically and artistically -- I'm really looking forward to their 2016 program announcement!
  6. What the heck are we talking about?? They've had 300 brass players try out so far... Percussion is set and guard has a couple spots they will fill this winter. And bad design? They finished fourth and the design was better than crown, other than guard. This thread is becoming sooo negative and or defensive. Popular? Fifteen hundred kids asked for membership information, they have the largest donor club in dci and outsell almost every other Corps in merchandise and downloads
  7. Roughly half the hornline is back. That's typical. I also think the support for Bruno is overstated. He was well liked but there's not been some wide spread revolt... The members aren't that naive and saw the results weren't there.
  8. well - poaching in kids following staff or chasing a ring - yes... But standing out side of a rehearsal bribing kids? not so much.. It was worse BITD when there were lots of little local corps and they were enticing each other's membership to jump camp
  9. can you imagine it getting announced in a stadium filled with band kids? "And next up, The Cadets, with their 2016 production "Stoned" -- the giggles and jokes and eye rolls would be ridiculous. Just have to look at the posts on here and elsewhere to know that's the reaction. I'm confident they will come to their senses and change it.
  10. They have tons of folks who can fill spots. They are attempting to fill a line with straight "ringers" and they are close The rumor is the talent level is immense.
  11. The Cadets show name "controversy" will fade/pass. As others have suggested, it's early winter and they frankly tend to "revise" the show titles anyway. Hoping this one was run up the flag pole as a "test" and a bit of "attention bait" and as the concept gets flushed out cooler heads will prevail and they won't be calling a high-profile youth-organizations summer program "Stoned" - I'm holding out hope they will revise it. Cadets are at a very interesting fork in the road - having jumped around in various creative directions the past decade - I'm hoping the "serious" music approach of this upcoming season, as well as 2015, 2013 is a trend they are realizing can work quite well. Both 2013 and 2015 programs could have won with better visual designs and guard execution. The changes in that aspect of the design staff creates a reason to have hope and optimism. The decision to name the program "Stoned" however creates doubt in my mind. It's just tacky, frankly. We'll see.
  12. I agree. A lot of bad decisions getting in the way...
  13. hahahaha - is it bad I thought of the exact same thing :)
  14. yeah - and a ton of indoor units have... as well as lesser well-known bands
  15. very faithful. For the idiom I would think about 30 seconds needs removed from the middle. JMO
  16. Just catching up on Regiment's repertoire announcement - sounds GREAT! Exciting to hear what they do with it. Very promising!
  17. Oh dear god would you give it a break. Stop being so disrespectful of someone who just happens to feel differently than you do.
  18. the entire article regarding her judging career is written in past-tense. I assume she is no longer judging.
  19. wow! some terrific numbers for the guard program! can't wait to see where this corps is headed in 2016!!
  20. last year went sideways (early) when they changed the title from "X" (or TEN) to "The Power of Ten" - at that point I knew they were going to shove a non-truth "the number 10 has some kind of special importance" down our throats. My gut was correct. Last years show shouldn't have had a "theme" the concept basis for this year's show is tried and true - been done in theatrical productions, plays, nursery books, marching band shows, WGI shows etc. The idea of stoned statues coming to life. Probably returning to stones at the end. The music (so far) sounds promising... so we'll see!
  21. I agree! See, we agree! I actually think the show should play out very well based on the tunes I've heard so far and obviously the talent level will be immense. I'm also extremely excited about the influx of some new visual blood. It should be very interesting and I'm hoping "fresh" from a design standpoint. I'm not much (personally) for repeated ideas.
