  1. it is too bad patriotism isn't "cool" these days... speaks volumes about the times and our "leadership" regarding Cadets the ending is a bit of a worry to me - the way it flows now frankly "fits" the show even though it doesn't pull the crowd out of their seats it will be interesting to see what they do and if it successfully weaves into the rest of the program or feels like a forced add-on tag ending
  2. we'll see some wow with Cadets new ending... at least that's the rumor... I agree overall it is not as prevalent - the "Golden Age" of drill was essentially 83-91 with Cadets/Star/Cavaliers and then with Gaines in the 2000s
  3. I really don't see Crown as a problem and certainly not THE problem One of the most crowd pleasing and popular Corps most years, who has undoubtedly brought many new fans and supporters into the activity. The thread is an epic failure to find someone or something to blame.
  4. Do you like the show, or do you like listening to the brass?
  5. Show design is pretty bad but no disaster. May finish fifth or sixth. Possibly as high as fourth if they can get back ahead of Coats. Major drill and transition issues, way too much clutter and drill is repetitive Drums started ahead but have been being passed up quickly Reminds me of Cadets 2006 in terms of the design errors, editing would have gone a long way The drop off isn't as severe as cadets in 06, that Corps had just swept all captions, set the high mark for score, and had incredible talent. Crown is down but not that out
  6. Right now BK's "moments" aren't that big. The whole thing is great but they've got to shape and bring those moments out more to pump up the GE
  7. GO CADETS!! Keep cutting that gap!! 3 weeks to go!!
  8. PAGE 128 Does that # mean anything to anyone?? lol
  9. it's starting to feel most similar to their Rach Star show - or however they spelled it...
  10. agree. Sometimes the whole is lesser than the sum of the parts, which in this case includes the kitchen sink
  11. eh- I actually think Cadets will either beat or be within a third of a point next weekend / they've been closing in and have much to add, and I felt they had a very flat and at times sloppy (for Cadets) run tonight
  12. I agree. Said it first viewing. A bit too much ego in the show design. Self-editing gets tougher as all your own ideas become reinforced as "brilliant" Same exact thing happened to Cadets in 2006 and also Cadets 1986 is another PRIME example
  13. don't disagree - animal face-paint ie: makeup would be more effective and really help their execution
  14. Percussion has been all over the board all season - one or two lines have very difficult books, one or two are very clean but slightly less difficult, and then you have lines running while playing vs. some park and play. As the tougher books clean it should settle out.
  15. they've got to take those masks off after the opening statement - really hurting them IMO
  16. I'm sure I'm going to get slammed for saying this but I'm shocked Crown is still taking brass, BD is crazy good Crown guard really struggling Cadets starting to take a lot of the content / or closing gap with BD - that's interesting. Also closed the GE gap. SCV taking drums right now - that caption jumps around nightly IMO Crown is out of it. No repeat. I'm not sure they will top SCV again - or Coats. Coats seem stuck in 3rd unless SCV takes them out... Crossmen seem a lock in 12th honestly - and possibly Scouts should watch their back BK has a lot of upside, looking at the recaps... Really an interesting year!
  17. still waiting on recaps I'd guess BD took brass & Cadets in second in brass Crown must have slipped to sixth or so in drums... all guesses
  18. agreed - some of the messing they did with tempos really showed up in their feet & intervals need to get those down and get the new ending in, and I still think Lincoln part 1 needs a 15 second snip
  19. Cadets cut the gap. SCV tops Crown as I called early - I wouldn't be surprised if that sticks through finals Coats in 3rd - gap with BD pretty consistent at 2 points, got to start cutting that to have a gap
