  1. If you are going to compare...you must compare apples to apples.... Crown would never sink to the level of putting a half-### performance on the field where all they did was sit and play knowing that the judges would give it to them even if they only had HALF the demand in their show as the other corps. Crown will always bring it! Take their past couple of years (07-09) as perfect examples!
  2. LOL, BD's horn line only politely applauded Crown when they won high brass and rather than looking like they truly were happy for them, it appeared to more closely reflect a badly disguised effort to try and correct the bad taste in everyone's mouth BD after the appalling display of bad sportsmanship they displayed at last year's retreat. However, their polite golf clap didn't do a lot to correct that impression imho.
  3. I think BD needs to stop whining about 2008!
  4. Regarding #1 and #9.......SO TRUE!!! Regarding #3...Thank you!
  5. It is not that we are whining, we are just stating the facts as supported by many other posters on the forums. BD had a TERRIBLY BORING show that hardly anyone understood, whereas CROWN was the FAVORITE!!!!!! Did you miss the part where we were awarded the FAN FAVORITE award from the FAN NETWORK?!?!?! Given the kind of preference that is ALWAYS shown to BD by the judges, it is a little hard for us not to feel that BD was simply "handed" this championship to make up for BD's whining last year. If it weren't for that bias, everyone knows Crown would have been the champion this year!! But, instead, the infamy of the #13 will live on...i.e. everyone will always remember that BD's 13th victory was for a show that DID NOT DESERVE the championship win, it was simply a "we're sorry" gift from the judges!!! Personally, the fact that Crown's 2009 show will be talked about for years to come as being completely innovative, the crowd favorite to win, plus the fact that it was such a beautiful blend of the best of WGI elements (i.e. body movement, creative guard uniforms and color enchancement of green plumes and drum covers), with our incomparable brass sound will only intensify the feeling that we got robbed the championship is a much better legacy than the way people are going to laugh about BD's 2009 gimme 13th victory for a show where they SAT instead of MARCHED, so I'll take that.
  6. You can say that all you want, but in reality the only one that matters is the Allentown one that got us in second place for quarterfinals!!! GO CROWN!!!
  7. Judging by the recent scores for Crown, I think this is quite do-able! GO CROWN!!!
  8. I can appreciate your opinion, I'm just saying...I honestly think the judges disagree with you regarding Crown based on the fact that the judges have determined Crown to be the winner more times than not in head to head competition against the Cadets this year. We shall see tomorrow night.
  9. Lol...don't get your panties in a ruffle...they might get caught in the slat on your chair! Seriously dude! I didn't mean the post to offend. It's not like I'm the first one on here to say this isn't their fav BD show. In all honesty, I thought 2008 was more entertaining, but meh...to each his own. All I'll say is ...the GRASS IS ALWAYS GREENER when the crowd cheers for ya! but if you don't care if the crowd cheers...more power to ya!
  10. Yeah, I have to agree with you there. Appears like the judges are gonna keep all corps at least a full point away from BD so that they don't encounter the same backlash they got from BD fans and alums last year for not giving them the gold. Shame. Talked to two of my friends in the stands tonight...they said BD hardly got a crowd reaction at all. Polite standing O at the end. What a champion! Good news is...there is LOTS of room for Crown to squeak by both HNC and Cavies tomorrow night. Will set us up nice for quarterfinals!! Woot! Woot!!
  11. It's called foreshadowing... can't wait for finals night!!
  12. Because the judges promised first place to BD last year...so only two spots are open to fight for...but technically only one spot is open cuz looks like the Crown has that second place all wrapped up.
  13. *gasp* really? But they make it look so easy??
  14. Awwwaawaa somebody got his wittle fweelings hurt.. *sniffle* Ok, we understand. Nobody is allowed to say anything negative because after all BD is "THE MOST DECORATED CORPS IN DCI!!! so obviously they are so much better than the rest of us and therefore above criticism. Gotcha!
  15. Can you do the same analysis for BD? I think it would be interesting to see how much time they spend standing and playing, sitting and playing, or one section marching while another section is playing plus what tempos they are using. I just thought it very interesting how very little marching and playing BD does this year after watching them in person in San Antinio. I wasn't impressed with them on Fan Network mainly cuz those ghastly yellow unis on the guard just kind of scream "I'm Dr. Seuss on qualudes!" but watching them in person...Wow, the show was even more boring than I thought. Most of the crowd wasn't entirely sure when to stand at the end until some BD fans stood up to let us know it was over, then we were like, "oh, ok...that was the closer..." By the way, I just saw Madison's show for the first time this weekend and I really liked it. I'm still pulling for Crown, but I definitely liked Madison's show concept plus it was extremely entertaining.
  16. Hate to burst your bubble Bluehull, but see my post above. The judges are obviously digging the "sitting" down in the show idea this year (BD being the PRIME example and Blue Stars attempting a modified version while they take their place in the "factory" at the sewing machines). Apparently that "complicated marching maneuver" gives them the free pass to squash their competition this season... I'm not saying I agree, I'm just saying it looks to be a pattern... Marching ...err, I mean Concert DCI, here we come!
  17. Honestly? No, I do not believe there are many on this board that believe there is a corps with an outside chance of taking out BD as you so eloquently put it. And it's not even because everybody knows the judges feel indebted to BD because *gasp* I guess one of the judges didn't GET THE MEMO last year that said BD was supposed to win and "accidentally" scored Phantom Regiment a tenth of a point higher so now they feel indebted to them??... The reason is - After San Antonio, it appears the judges have clearly decided they want to introduce the element of concert band into DCI... Picture this....First day of BD training camp, instead of saying "OK guys, get your dot books out", the director says, "Guess what guys, this year. forget the dot books, we got something better! We are actually going to get to take our "dots" out on the field WITH us. Here is the plan. At the beginning of the show, you just take your dot (chair) right out and line it up in set-up (just like you would do a dot in practice) then presto!, when the show starts come back and sit or stand in your chair where ya placed it! Play a few ditties, cross your legs for the great GE effect, then move your chairs to your new dot, play a little more, etc." By the third day, the director says, "Sweet!! Didn't I tell ya! Easy right? Great few days of work gang, feel free to take the weekend off!" No reason we need to kill ourselves practicing when over half our show we can have clean as soon as we learn where to place our dots (chairs). And the best part is, nobody will even guess what the strategy is because they will be so in awe of how creative our show design is. Truth be told, I'm not sure any other corps would get credit for having such a "smart", "innovative" show or for sitting down to play (i.e. concert band). Mark my words, three years from now when DCI more closely resembles concert band then marching corps, we can thank the green shirts for feeling sorry that at least one of them didn't get the memo in '08 that said BD was supposed to win. So, by all means, yes, let's just hand it to them this year.
  18. Me too!!! Why I love Crown's men in green tights theme this year! They are not afraid to be different.
