Understanding a show
Mr.Potato.Head replied to BoyWonder1911's topic in DCI World Class Corps Discussions
For me understanding the theme of a show is like the icing on the cake. I listen to drum corps more than I watch it, so the theme, which is usually visually driven, isn't apparent. But when I do watch the shows I have listened to multiple times and I get the theme it makes it that much better. One example of this I Crown 09. I had listen to it multiple time before I got the DVDs, so I already liked the music and adding the visual and understanding the theme made it even more enjoyable. So for me understanding a theme doesn't determine if I like a show or not, but it does add an extra layer! -

ugh I really hate when people SHHHHH!!!!! each other during a performance, it really ruins the atmosphere the corps are trying to create! -
Madison Scouts 2011

I think this competitive rivalry will be beneficial for both corps. Keep the staff and the members on their toes! -

I don't care what people say on here. They have every right to say what they want, it is of course their opinion. Free Country and all. What I would really like to see is for these two corps to battle it out all summer. And if that competitive rivalry benefits both corps and leads to the members working that much harder to beat one another then both corps will be that much better. Seeing both Madison and the Blue Stars move up through the ranks would definitely not be a bad thing!!! -
Madison Scouts 2011

There are comments on June 25th that pretty much say the Blue Stars are done for after getting beat by 2 points in Muncie. I would to make it clear that I was in no way calling out the Madison Scouts organization for those comments. Those comments were made by individual members on DCP, not by anyone from within the Scouts. To call the Madison Scouts orginization anything but classy would be calling the members and current staff out and if you take a look at where the current staff have previously taught, their influence has had an impact on those corps as well. So if the current staff at Madison makes them anything but classy, the same would be true for all the other corps these staff members have worked with.... -
Madison Scouts 2011
Mr.Potato.Head replied to steelchops's topic in DCI World Class Corps Discussions
I don't think they have been crapping on the Scout's newfound success. I think they have been responding to the comments made by multiple posters on this thread that have said the Blue Stars are "done for" in regards to competing with the Scouts after 1 early season show! They have only went head-to-head one time this season! I think after a few more head-to-head match ups and a regional or two there will be a much clearer idea of where these two corps stand in regards to one another. If one show determines how the season goes I would like to be the first to congratulate Crown on their 2011 Championship! -
Going on before Intermission could have had an effect. Saw the show in Muncie and enjoyed it very much!!!

They need a brass solist there!!!! Since that is one of the longest statements of the Main Bourne Theme it would be great as a brass solo!!! (Thought that when I saw it in Muncie and on the Fan Network) -

BK 2010 is great! Definitely on my 2008-2010 DCI favorites playlist! -
I was referring to the post by Cop: " It's time you take The Madison Scouts of you list of "WHAT EVER." Scouts are not a part of your Blue Knights battles with the top 12 world.. Scouts are on par with BlueCoats and Hanging out with Crown.. Scouts Past Blue Stars and Boston by 4. points.." I am using my phone and didn't know how to quote things, just figured it out though. I can read and do know what this forum is about. Just like there is a big group in the 6-9 (10) range, there is a big group looking to make it into finals, which will be another awesome battle to watch as the season continues!!! I didnt mean to contribute in the hijacking of this thread, just correcting some bad number usage. (sorry I have a bad habit of correcting people :-P) Maybe someone should just start a Madison Scouts vs. Blue Stars thread...or a Blue Stars vs. Madison Scouts thread, probably best to go with a Madison Scouts/Blue Stars vs. Blue Stars/Madison Scouts thread, don't want to offend one side or the other...
