  1. It was fixed. Now watch the Donald go ballistic on me...
  2. Smart man you are. How I wish I could ignor the idiots.
  3. I went with the Cadets, mainly because they don't seem to be very popular with the DCP crowd. Just me being ornery...ha ha
  4. It's just another way to tick us long time fans off. They seem obsessed with it. Any wonder why so many stay home?
  5. There used to be corps trooping the stands after their show and we also had full retreats. Not sure when they took them away from us. How I loved those parts of competitions. All the changes listed in this thread and they wonder why people got upset causing a huge decline in interest and fan base. Nice to think back to the good old days, though.
  6. GBV....neighbors of two of my all time favorite corps, CD of A all girls corps and the Meriidian Woodpeckers. Ahhhhhh, what great memories.
  7. Sorry, but DCI tossed us traditionalists aside long ago. I would like to add that most major sporting events are held in different cities every year. You do not see them committing to one venue for ten years. Can't compare apples and oranges, I know. This thread so much could go right along with the thread about "getting a new fan base". .
  8. Thank you a zillion times. I will download Chrome and subscribe to Fan Network. I always liked Safari but we'll see how Chrome goes. Thanks again
  9. I have evidence. As in 10,000 more people at Finals when they were in Buffalo than they get now. If Indy had 18,000 last year as I seem to remember reading, then that 10,000 goes to 12,000. Maybe the local and regional shows have not declined in attendance, but I have no way of knowing.
  10. I just read what the whopper posted so maybe there is hope. Thanks for the information, skywhopper.
  11. As of last night, IPad does not support Flash. That's my only complaint about IPad. I am now getting cold feet about getting Fan Network. I don't have Chrome on my Mac desktop so I am kind of skeptical now. I'm no computer expert by any stretch. Btw, Nole...you're very welcome (for the thank yous you sent my way yesterday).
  12. Exactly. Social media strikes again and people wonder why some of us are not addicted to it. Sigh...
  13. But would they have had the same reaction in say Buffalo? They were practically in their backyard in Akron with many local fans there, I assume.
  14. And I heard they laid Santa off, sent the elves back to the North Pole and put the sleigh up for sale. April and the guard might as well take the tree down as well. Yes?
  15. Playoffs, I say. Just like the NCAA basketball tournament. We could do brackets and the whole nine yards.. And now to pick my very early Final Four.
  16. I can relate to your buddy. I only get to one show a year if nothing goes wrong, but most of the time the encore by whomever is my favorite part of the show. If only someone had not decided to decrease the length of the encore. Several years ago I was at a show near Pittsburgh and Madison had the encore. They dang near made the press box shake with that hornline. One of those moments to remember for me. Sorry to go a tad off topic but I just had to toss this in.
  17. The Donald when told about Hop's interest in woodwinds?
  18. Oh....seems to me he's pushing the envelope or gift wrap to make more $$$$ then. Makes "cents". Or does it? So in other words, Hop says in effect "screw you ticket buying people who make huge sacrifices to go to a show maybe hours away, my main concern is educatiing young adults". Thanks for the insight. It's always good to learn and see what makes people tick. Or in this case, hop.
  19. Thank you so much for the advice, 'Nole (what a baseball team in the CWS, btw). I was not quite sure if it would be worth it but the general consensus seems to be that it is. You sold me on it so now it's off to get my charge card out....again. Not sure if I will be able to get it on my IPad (someone mentioned getting audio only on a tablet). If not, it should be good on my desktop. Thanks again. I very much appreciate it.
  20. But you're standing up and cheering out of respect for the kids, which is precisely what we should all be doing. I think he was referring to when corps were much more exciting than they are today. In general, I mean. Some of us still like the more powerful shows with maybe a ballad mixed in. Loud and wild endings used to bring people up off their seats and it was not always just to be polite. What many people don't quite understand is that it is hard for some of us to let go of what once was. Add woodwinds to the mix and then we lose more of what we know as drum corps. No disrespect intended to marching bands as I love them as well, but if and when I want to see them I can go to their shows. I think Hop likes to push the envelope, but these other people in here know much more than I do. All I know is that I am a bleacher bum and I will definitely stand and cheer.
  21. I know this is way OT, but I just had to reply. That's good to know about the band you work with. This brings up another sore subject with me and that is DCI schedules. That same night you and the band will be in East Rutherford, God willing I will be at a show near Pittsburgh. East Rutherford gets perhaps the top 7 or 8 corps. The show near PIttsburgh gets some others. No disrespect intended, either. That makes two consecutive years Baldwin (Pgh) gets the lower echelon corps. Before I get trashed for being OT, yes I know this should be in another thread but there isn't one. I wonder if Hop would say "Oh fiddle sticks" if he read some of the posts in here.
