  1. Touche! I owe you an apology. I do find it ironic that you would post something intentionally vague on a public forum...
  2. Haha... I would be willing to bet the farm you have no idea what you're talking about... I doubt you've ever worked with or marched for Christian. Not that I have, but I would love to know what your opinions are, and what they're based off of...
  3. I wasn't trying get ammo for an argument. I'm sure there is some truth behind what you've heard. I believe that there are at least as many members (if not many more) that actually enjoy this type of coaching. Not every member is belittled and the ones that are are usually slipping through the cracks and not holding up their weight. What the Emmerts bring is a complete display of unfiltered emotion... and you know what... I think that is directly displayed in PRs performances at the end of the year.
  4. Perhaps you should reread your first post if you consider mine condescending. Also... perhaps I gave the the benefit of the doubt by assuming you hadn't read the thread. If you did read the thread and still couldn't understand the context, then you probably shouldn't post snide remarks.
  5. Sooooo... apparently you don't read the threads before you comment and quote things out of context... The conversation had to do with a drop in performance level under the watch of the new caption head. The comment was made that their hornline had received 6th place this year. I was simply pointing out that they had placed 6th the two years prior as well. Now... if you would've read the thread, I wouldn't have had to explain that. You're welcom.
  6. Actually... I do understand how relative placement works. I've been in this activity a LONG time (and have won a couple of brass trophies myself). While you can argue symantics about "relative placements", I will go with my ears. The last three years of PR have been similar in achievement. Like I said before, the biggest drop off in brass performance in my opinion was between 08-09. Apparently the judges saw it that way too. With Ryan at the helm, the brass performance stayed about the same. I think regiment's placement this year had a lot to do with the return of a great visual staff and one helluva show (props to JD).
  7. And 6th is relative to 5th in my mind. Regiment got 2nd in brass in 08, i'd hardly call them a problem section. Regiment got 4th in GE music this year... the brass performance does have a hand in that as well. I would hardly call them a "trouble" section. However you want to chop it, PR has been 6th in horns the last 3 years. I think the hornlines from the last three years have been comparable, as can be witnessed in their placements. The biggest drop off I've seen was between 08-09, not between 10-11. Something else happened between 08-09 with PR brass... if you get my drift...
  8. They've been 6th in horns for the past 3 years... sooooooo....
  9. Do yourself a favor and watch top 4 from '95. If you don't check out other devs shows from the mid 90s you're missing out. 1994 BD.... nuff said.
  10. Thought are with Marty. This adds a completely different dimension to an emotional weekend for the Phamily.
  11. Your previous posts have displayed an obvious hatred for PR... I can't possibly take your posts seriously... and I'm assuming the people around share the same view. But from where I was sitting, the audience gave PR a much stronger reception at the end of their show than crown. I'm also surprised you were able to judge every caption at once without your obvious bias... saying crown should've easily beat PR in every caption except drums is hilarious! You're such an expert!
  12. Show is cancelled. I heard crossmen were great.
  13. They've had closed finals week rehearsals for years and it works for them... but I'm sure you must know how they can run things better. Seems like you must think pretty highly of yourself, and your knowledge of the activity...
  14. Good thing you aren't in charge of PRs final week of scheduling... something tells me they might know more about what their kids need for a great set of finals week performances than you do... gotta love the "armchair quarterback"...
  15. Tom... I must say that your avitar is MY FAVORITE EVER! I do miss I&E, but that's because I'm a little old school in that fashion. It seems that ever since DCI added all of the different groups (trombone ensemble/flute and so on) that its fallen off a lot. Wasn't there only ONE mellophone in competition this year??? I'm not saying that kids shouldn't be allowed to compete with woodwinds, jjust an observation.
  16. If Al Chez had your corps in first, would it still be a stupid experiment?
  17. From a percussion standpoint, yes coats are cleaner. Brass, I think its pretty close, but then again, coats have been beating them in brass all season. The spread last night was a little hefty in favor of BC. From a visual standpoint, I would definitely give the nod to PR. From an Effect and ensemble standpoint I would say the same. BC has been beating PR in execution captions (minus guard and sometimes vis). But, I think its a lot closer than you make it sound.
  18. Can we stop saying it was a 3 point jump when it was less than 2 points? 93.4-91.5 = 1.9 While it may seem like a symantecs, the exaggeration shows a clear bias. From what I understand, Regiment had a great show last night, and it isn't unusual for Regiment to start putting together amazing performances around this time of the season. Slap in the face to the Cavaliers because PR is a point and a half behind them? Insane... god forbid PR close the gap on the Cavaliers (who IMHO are NOT clearly better). I'll take verdi, mozart, prokofiev and wagner over upsidedown tenor playing and stilts anyday... but again, that's just my opinion.
