Yesterday at my Jazz Band rehearsal, my instructer explained to us what growling is! You just make a, well, growling noise in your throat! It sounds wicked cool, and I plan on using it in some of my future improv solos. This is pretty much just another version of multi-phonics right?

Oh come on!! Drum corps predictions are sooooo much cooler! Winning the lottery would only increase your chance of being attacked/robbed, losing 75% of your friends, and destroy your social life and force you to move out of your home because there are random people in your yard.

From a more realistic stand point: Minassota Brass-98 point something Reading Bucceneers-97 point something Empire Statesmen-96-97 point something Hurracanes-94-95 point something Cabillaros- 91-93 point something

DCI All-star Corps/Ensemble
Stradivarius replied to Stradbrother's topic in DCI World Class Corps Discussions
I like the idea of picking them at the beginning, but I think that they should pick them at the beginning of training camp instead of the entire season. -
I also like the Bach 3C on trumpet, but I like the Bach 5G on trombone (also a little bit of 6 1/2 AL). The 3C is good for me, but I can make pretty much any mouthpiece work for me if I play on it long enough. Most of the problems with instrumental music can be solved by simply practicing! If you really need a new mouthpiece, take a few private lessons so you can find the one that fits your style!

DCI All-star Corps/Ensemble
Stradivarius replied to Stradbrother's topic in DCI World Class Corps Discussions
That is actually a very good idea!! Even learning drill too! Notwithstanding how awesome that would be, it would almost certainly not work How would they find time? -
I didn't know that Olds made Strad trumpets, but stradivariuss were THE BEST brand of violins out there a while back. But they aren't quite as good now than they used to be. The workers went on strike, so the quality went down. I use it as a username because, of all the brass instruments I've played, Stradivarius are my favorite. I got a strad trombone a couple years ago as a christmas present too so strads are officially my favorite brand. PS: I can't find a good video of the 2010 Bluecoats finals performance!!! they are all the rehearsal the day before or a video from one of the cheap seats at the stadium.

Finding parts of different drum corps' music in other ensembles is very dependent upon the backround of the music writer. For example, my instructer for my high school's drumline has marched with the Empire Statesmen for several years. Afer marching with them this past season, all the parts seem aaaaawful familiar.....

Haha love it! And about the Cadets videos: Because the Cadets have always been one of my favorite corps, the extra footage during the offseason is awesome IMO! It lets us see more and more of the hard work it took the members to get to the Championship! Seeing them out of uniform, working hard, and just running through reps like every other group I've ever been in is really cool. It kind of forms a stronger bond to the group for the fans! These sort of videos have the potential to bring more people to the auditions, resulting in a wider variety of members to pick from for the corps. I alsways found it easier to find Cadets shows. If I were to look up the Bluecoats on YouTube, I would spend maybe ten minutes trying to find a video of their finals performance. Cadets are superior in putting out extra stuff for the fans.

I hope they medal and entertain me Favorite corps after all!

Stradivarius replied to Schickmeister's topic in DCI World Class Corps Discussions
I have no complex, long, list of corps, but it seems that the winner will most likely not be the Cadets( ). The Dlue Devils have never lost after a missed three-peat, so I'm leaning toward them or the Cavaliers. On a personnal note, I hope Bluecoats will at least medal! -
Countries Without Drum Corps
Stradivarius replied to MetalTones2012's topic in International Corps Forum
I think every country should have a drum corps/marching band activity. But if I had to choose, I'd go to South Africa. They have a pretty good economy compared to the rest of Africa. Not only that but the "Spirit of America Band" already went there, planting the seed. I would enjoy helping it grow! -
2000 Cavaliers - Niagra Falls
Stradivarius replied to wackywords's topic in DCI World Class Corps Discussions
I think the Cavaliers should have won. Saw both shows too, Cavaliers visual was definitely better. -
Never thought of that.....Thanks for the tip! I hope it helps!
