Brass Scores for LaCross show last night, July 12th, 2014: Cadets - 17.50 Crown - 17.30 I realize it's not August yet but that really doesn't matter because it still validates my point from the beginning of the thread that Crown's hornline is NOT as strong as they were last year because last year they were UNTOUCHABLE and THIS Λ Λ Λ.......did not and WOULD NOT have happened last year! So all of you who spent 18 pages arguing this topic with me a few weeks ago can now eat crap.

A lot of "new schoolers" have said for years that the activity's target audience is directed at "middle school, high school, and college music students" and if that is true.....and THIS ^^^.....is true, then I guess it really doesn't matter what the "legacy fans think". As they say, "it's not the legacy fan's activity" anymore. So if today's drum corps kid finds today's modern shows with electronics, all brass and dare I even say woodwinds, so be it. I can say this, the crowds attending the shows and movie theaters certainly speaks for itself. Legacy fans love to "boycott"....but does anyone even notice...is perhaps the real question. Things that make you go "hmmmmmmmm".

For Soprano Joe Johnson: Madison 86. Mike Collins: Blue Devils 86. Barry Hudson: Star 88. John Meehan Blue Devils 88 and 89. Scott Stewart: Blue Devils 93, 94 and 95. Sean Billings Blue Devils 1997 and after that, I don't know names.

They will beat Jersey Surf, Mandarins and maybe even Pacific Crest this year.

You said you were quite familliar with Dick Shearer's trombone playing so I shouldn't have to explain. Oh yeah, and it's "Shearer" not "Smearer".

I think the more important question is what does his trombone playing have to do with Madison Scouts' use of trombones as well as your ability to comprehend what they are doing with it.

Is anyone on this forum even familiar with the name Dick Shearer? If not, you have absolutely no room to even discuss the Madison Scouts' approach to trombones in this year's show. The concept is too far above your head.

Of course, the dinos will complain because it's not supposed to be "Drum Bugle and Coke Bottle Corps" but blah! They will complain anyway.

I'm glad you brought up Blue Stars. I forgot that one. As for Pio's stigma. Yeah, you're right. That exists. But if the staff I'm hearing rumored decides to climb on board, that will definitely help recruiting efforts.

I was also just thinking after you mentioned Illinois ....Marian Catholic H.S. If they pull from that pool of BOA Finalist talent, just imagine....We make things so hard in this activity. Yet, things are more simple than people realize. I'm telling you. The right staff. The right recruiting. You already mentioned the infrastructure.....

You do realize right that Carolina Crown went from 16th in 2002 to 10th in 2003 right. Now look at them. They won last year. Anything is possible. Need I remind you of Star Of Indiana 1985. They didn't place anywhere in 1984 because they DIDN'T EXIST. Then BOOOOOM!!!!! 10th place in 85. All it took was the right staff and strong recruiting. You just have no idea what is brewing right now.

All it would take is to get the right staff in there (and I've heard some rumors lately about a few big names who are planning on jumping in and building this corps) and of course a good strong recruiting effort. It can, and will happen. Just trust me. In two years, you will look back at this thread and say "holy ####! He was right".

Mark my word, it will happen. I'm saying by 2016.

So THAT'S why they keep getting run over by corps members!!!!!
