  1. Nah - Whitey's still on the lam. And I AIN"T telllin' yas where !
  2. Well, when the Brigs do a show about their past, they're doing stuff that under the right circumstances scores a 98.5. They deserve credit, this version of the Brigs is a local core group that has been through some tough times. Maybe someday they'll get he ring chasers back, but for now they should be proud. Oh, and the hornline has to play much, much louder. Zackly - Oddly enuff, I've become of fan of Brigs this year, having seen them in Wildwood and B-port. I'm actually rooting for 'em. And, oh yeah - I've met a few, and they're super folks! (Shout out to the bass line, I think - I'm one of the two Cabs alums you guys were sitting next to to watch Bucs and Cabs at Barnum).
  3. Hey, what's this with the "best seat in the house" remark there? Everybody KNOWS that the best seats in the house can ONLY be found by coming to see me or the Mrs. at one of the ticket booths, unless you've already bought your ticket, of course (But if you have, be sure to wave hello on your way in!). Just think, a great seat to the longest-running show in all of drum corps (It IS, isn't it?) AND a smiling and sincere "Thank You" from one of us - A Bargain at Any Price b**bs
  4. JOsh tried to reel me in for the mello spot Saturday in Bridgeport. Unfortunately, as it was not I who won that big PowerBall jackpot last week, I must, alas, keep my job, preventing me from availing myself of this incredible opportunity. But that's GOOD news for somebody out there - IS THAT SOMEBODY YOU ? ! ? ! ? !
  5. C'mon guys - There MUST be somebody out there who can take this spot BEFORE I have to give in and quit my job to take it! Go see for yourself in B-port tomorrow - You'll wanna be part of this corps !
  6. Ditto on the "greatest experiences of my life" quote there. My wife and I were lucky enough to become Cabs together, after both marching other places for years, and we still feel like the Cabs are our second family , FIFTEEN years after we last marched! As biased as I admittedly am, believe me when I say I'm trying to shoot straight here - For those of you who weren't in Wildwood, this year's corps is one very special group of Caballeros. You would be doing yourself wayyyyyyyy wrong if you pass up the chance to become part of this family, especially now. I would be all over one of the trumpet spots myself if I didn't have to make a living by sometimes working on the weekends - So to whoever's reading - Take "my" spot! You will NEVER regret it!
  7. I predict I'll be at the Caribbean Motel by 3:00 tomorrow, after I pick up some Yuenglings!
  8. One last RRRRRRRRRRRRRump before I sign off to pack, to get an early start tomorrow. See some of you peeps at Maxwell tomorrow night. Everybody have a safe trip down/over/up !
  9. OK, I hereby officially turn this into an "everybody but them Buccaneers" thread :P Looking forward to Carmen, Bernstein, Maynard, and "First Time Ever. . ." again, and sunshine, and Claude's in North Wildwood, and riding the Great White, and, well, everything but the Bucs, OK?! (Well, actually, "The Promise of Living" IS one of my favorites. . . . ) . OH, what the heck, gotta say it - Looking forward to the gang in blue, too ! (Sorry, I tried to not mention them, really!)
  10. Double-rump! And, is it Wildwood weekend yet? Got my res at the Caribbean. need some Kohr's custard b**bs !
  11. Contra case, dude - CONTRA ! But watch out for the @#!*%#@! tram car :P !
  12. Reserved n' paid for my motel room months ago - Guess I oughtta get me cupla tickets now, huh ?
  13. Oh, MAN, I wish I could be there! I was at what looked like would end up being the final Pavilion concert, in '99 - About 5 minutes into SCV's show, I turned to my wife and I said "There's yer DCI champ this year!". And then there was Mandarins' stage presentation with Appalachian Morning and the recent age-out talking about her Mandarins family, and, oh yeah, like 3 or 4 guys at a table in the back trying to recruit for, of all things, a SENIOR corps in NorCal ! Like THAT would ever amount to anything B) BTW - I heart Mandarins !
  14. Was it Ace, filling in on that AM station again ? He's sooooo much better than the usual doofus in the afternoon - Actually, he's better than any of the locally-originated stuff, and most of the syndicated guys.
  15. Exactly - Strategy, that is - - - Ya vote off who you fear the most first ^0^ (Just like in DCI Survivor)
  16. Sac was just as awesome as I remembered them always being - Of course, I'm a big Johnny Cash fan, so that didn't hurt, but still ! Man, they have SO much going on the whole show! I ALWAYS love Sonnor - They've got some real guts, equipment-wise! And, in Open - Emanon's a hoot! Well-designed fun, high-energy show, and they perform the heck out of it! Just some thoughts from an old horn player who wandered over to CGP to say hello :P
  17. Uhhh, movin' WAY too far down the page - Don't miss this opportunity, folks ! 'Cos if someone else takes the spot, yer gonna do this when you see and hear the show and realize you blew your chance ! Oh, yeah - - - - - RUMP !
  18. Okay, I'll play - No concrete info, just little comments I hear here and there, but I'm getting vibes telling me that, in NO PARTICULAR ORDER, Frontier, Hurricanes, and Crusaders might all pleasantly surprise at least ME. Of course, ya gotta hope that EVERYBODY does, though, right :) ?
  19. Me neither neither. (I was a spectator by '96, but it STILL confounds and stings)
  20. I like quoting Mike 'cause he's so smart- So, uh, yeah, like he said - RUMP ! Geez, I'd think anybody who hasn't already committed to "other plans" for this summer would JUMP at this opportunity! What the aitch-ee-double-toothpicks are youse people wating for ? !
  21. Guess I'm too lazy to go back through the whole thread, but - - - (And yes, I know this wasn't in the parade, but after that football thing ended) Anybody else notice (presumably) USC's band playing "Conquest" after the game? Now THAT was pretty cool. Back on topic now - I completely agree with that Turner guy 'bout the Star Wars stuff. LA-A-A-A-AME !
  22. Arggh ! I get "MY" Barnum show back (been goin' since, oh, about '72) and it's gonna be while Cabs are still in Yerp, darnit! At least this year's Barnum show will prove the Kennedy Stadium superintendent/caretaker guy wrong - Back in '92, when I was involved in the DCI show in Bridgeport, he griped to me that Cabs "always" win Barnum :P
