  1. How can we even verify the legitimacy of this letter?
  2. Just out of curiosity, does anyone actually use that forum? Let alone know about it? I went into it to see that the posts had hundreds on views and I wanted to know what the probability was that current marchers actually got a sponsorship for DCP members.
  3. I was on the train heading to school earlier this month when I sat across from a guy probably in his late 50's when I noticed that he had a hat on that only had the letters "SCV" on it. I asked him if he had marched drum corps. He gave me this quizzical look and all I thought was, "Oh lord, he thinks I'm a crazy person" when he pulls up his sweatshirt to reveal a 40th Anniversary shirt and gives me the biggest smile. He chatted the for the next 20 minutes talking about drum corps. I come to find that he marched with the Anaheim Kingsmen in '72 and with Vanguard in '73! I was in too much shock that I forgot to catch his name when I got off at my station. I felt so unworthy to have been talking to a legacy.
  4. Daniel Fish Santa Clara Vanguard, Trumpet My name is Daniel Fish and I this will be my 6th year in the Marching Pageantry. I marched with the Oregon Crusaders for the last two years and have been blessed with the opportunity to march with the Santa Clara Vanguard for this upcoming season. I started marching my 8th grade year with Grants Pass high school, who became 2011 NWAPA Champions and marched in the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade the same year. After having instructors and friends in drum corps, I decided to audition my Junior year. OC became my home for the next two seasons and was the best times of my life so far. After the success of last season, I was approached by a Vanguard Veteran and was told to audition. He helped me set the ball rolling and I was able to audition and received a membership offer. I was ecstatic because marching with SCV has always been a dream of mine. I fell in love with the after watching 1988 Phantom of the Opera my 8th grade year. I didn't know about 1989 until about a year later. Crazy, I know. But it was the summer of my freshman year, '09 , that I decided fully that Santa Clara was where I wanted to be. I was able to see Ballet for Martha and was moved to tears. Simple Gifts holds a very special meaning to me and the performed it better than I had ever witnessed. I was lucky enough to be able to perform it with Oregon Crusaders during our Yellow(Closer) section of our show last year. It was at Semi-finals that I was able to watch Santa Clara and was again blown away by Music of the Starry Night. Our tuition this year is 2250, but as I live in Northern Oregon, airfare can cost between 200-350 dollars for each camp. Please help me actualize my dream of being able to wear the Star with pride and represent the Aussie in all of it's glory. If you feel moved to donate to me, here is the link for the Vanguard Website http://www.scvanguar...rd/payments.cfm Please remember to put my name, Daniel Fish. :) Or if you wish to help me with my other drum corps expenses, I have set up a paypal account https://www.paypal.c...gif%3aNonHosted Thank you for helping me continue to make drum corps possible. With the utmost gratitude, Daniel J Fish
