  1. The audience is getting their exercise jumping up and down so much.
  2. Mandarins sound awesome! Also, I can't find the judging panel on DCI.org
  3. There's actually many people on the hornline who work on rifle work. Everyone in the corps is friends with each other across the sections, so sometimes free-time is spent with people teaching each other.
  4. You're right. So will every other corps. So that actually doesn't mean much. We all understood through the season that by the end it was a matter of design - everyone's clean by finals.
  5. I hate to burst your bubble, but there's probably a 50% chance that won't be a part of the show by Finals (and by 50%, I mean 75%). Crown changes their closer a bunch, sometimes later in the season with less than a month remaining.
  6. Yeah, a lot of people have already touched on this, but I'll just confirm again. With Crown, we pretty much always, ALWAYS have our generator available. In fact, if my memory serves correctly, we almost always used it. Very often the stadium would have an outlet or power source to provide, but it wouldn't give enough energy to run our equipment. After that happened a few times in 2011 and messed with our sound system, we started to always keep the generator with us for the show. Or my memory may be completely whonky and I don't remember anything.
  7. This makes me think of Crown 2011 pre-show, when Nick is playing the delicate Rachmaninoff piano part after the drum line cuts out and before the hornline comes in. One of our parent volunteers (I think it was one of ours b/c we had an inside joke about it) yells at the top of their lungs "PLAY SOMETHING!!!!" on the DVD, right in the middle of that soft delicate moment. Lol it cracks me up to this day.
  8. Wow I almost made another comment here about my opinions, but this thread has kinda turned toxic. Not trying to get into an online fight with some of my friends' parents.
  9. I think you're saying this with pride instead of disappointment.... You might want to consider changing your thinking a bit.
  10. Something else to consider: the Cavies medaling isn't just about the Cavies. It's also about BD, Crown, SCV, Cadets, Phantom, Bluecoats, Blue Knights, Spirit, Madison, etc. Even if Cavies were a lightyear ahead of where they were last year, they'll be the same if everyone else is two lightyears. Cavies may knock everyone's socks off - congratulations, they've improved! But if Spirit knocks everyone's socks AND shoes off, the placement won't improve. Individual growth is a solo act based on quality of performance. Placement in a competition is a dependency at the mercy of every other competitor. They're related, but not the same thing.
  11. This looks like the year of The Blue Phanta Cadevila Crowncoats.
  12. Wait wait wait. It's really just been 2 seasons, and this second season has only begun. This activity often involves large jumps, but sometimes it takes several seasons for things to move around. I'd say if at the end of NEXT season Cavies are still in that range, then they're probably there to stay for awhile.
  13. I can't speak for other corps, but this does not apply for Crown. I know that if Crown had won and been booed, we would not feel a victory at all. Number one goal: play a show that hits people in the gut and changes people's lives. If that puts us in 1st, awesome! If that puts us in FOURTH, that's cool.
  14. We don't care too much about it because we understand it's predominantly made up of corps alumni and radical band parents, so everyone has biases. With that said, we still read what everyone says. All of us have smart phones and hours to kill every night on the bus after a show.
