  1. I’m late to this, sorry. I have to ask, this seems to affect the Cavies quite a bit. Is there something in their isolation and health protocols that is not up to snuff compared to other corps? Or is this just really, really, terrible luck? I hope they all recover soon
  2. Those many drum people were not at field level like Prosperie. We are having discussions on DCP about drum judges that are actually at field level not being able to properly judge the front ensemble and drumline due to not being able to run around on the field anymore. And because we do not having a separate drum judge dedicated to adjudicating the front ensemble. Yet we’re going to weigh the opinions of “drum people” who may or may not have been sitting in the stands of the echoey hellscape of Lucas Oil over Jeff Prosperie? Good lord.
  3. I have honestly been unable to truly get into a Boston show since 2016. Even before 2016, there are very few Boston shows that I personally enjoy from the 2000s. Everything from the ensemble sound of their hornline, the musical arrangements, their show designs, I just haven’t been a fan of it. Theyre a fantastic corps and them getting a championship is just a matter of when, not if. I don’t go around exclaiming that I dislike Boston’s show designs and that they need to change their identity. Not sure why people do that with BD, is what I guess I’m getting at.
  4. You are completely entitled to your opinion. Doesn’t mean people will completely agree with it! My opinion is that jazz is what makes BD who they are. It is one of the reasons why I love their shows year in and out. Their top heavy, jazz oriented ensemble sound just sparkles in a way that, in my opinion, makes other hornlines sound vanilla in comparison. In an activity that is having corps quickly lose their identity to ridiculous costumes and some really annoying show design trends, it is really refreshing to see BD continually paying homage to their own identity
  5. I remember this! Absolutely hilarious 😂 if you find the 2012 one, please post it here!
  6. Since when does jazz or screamers not appeal to the masses?
  7. Depends on what you define as “taking chances.” If we’re talking about variety in styles, sure I can see the validity in that. If we’re talking about not taking enough chances in terms of difficulty, well, I am going to question your judging ability.
  8. Caffeine is an addictive drug, why make your body dependent on it?
  9. Highly suggest listening to this with headphones on. Gorgeous playing going on in this clip and the indoor setting only enhances it. I think one of the things that hasn't been selling me on this year's ballad has been the apparent lack of clarity in the melody, it seems to sometimes get lost in the overall ensemble sound. It's crystal clear in this video, hopefully they can continue achieving this level of clarity all season!
  10. We have yet to even hit the Southeast Regional yet let alone the Eastern regional. This season is far from close to being over. Are you suggesting these holes are affecting their scores?
  11. A fun yet informative video done by a member of the Funliner Podcast who marched the Blue Devils several years ago. He is essentially addressing all the common low-quality opinions people have about the Blue Devils (all their shows are the same, pay the judges, design for the judges not the fans, etc) and offering some level of rebuttal or added nuance to those opinions Worth a watch simply for the simplicity and fairness with which all the points are illustrated
  12. Huge win tonight off the backs of the wonderful music program the Cadets have pulled together this year! Hoping they can keep the momentum going and continue cleaning up the visual side of things!
  13. So happy for the Cadets! Hope they can keep the momentum going
  14. I'll be honest, I have absolutely no idea how people live in Texas or Arizona. Spare me from the "it's a dry heat" nonsense, it's still HOT 😂
  15. Stuff like this is exactly why I love BD as an organization. They truly do go out of their way to ensure their members are getting a very rich arts education
  16. I don't know what DCI's vetting process is for judges. I can only assume there is some sort of training that is done to ensure everyone is interpreting the sheets in similar ways. But I don't know for sure
  17. There's a lot of new blood in the judging ranks, which is honestly a good thing. It's good for new perspectives and opinions to be present among the judging ranks. If we always had the same set of judges and never introduced new perspectives into the judging ranks, people would continue complaining (like they already do now) that only certain corps or styles are favored by the judges.
  18. How do you know that? Were you at the show? Or is this a matter of you just liking Pacific Crest's show so much that you don't think BK and Crossmen deserve to pass them up?
  19. Love seeing BK surge a bit tonight, hope they can muscle their way into the top 12! Would love to see Blue Stars place higher because their scores up to this point have been a head scratcher for me, they deserve to be competing for 5th with Phantom, Mandarins, and Cadets in my opinion Glad to have a bit of sanity in the brass scores tonight as well!
  20. I predicted it prior to the first competition of the season when I saw a crown run on YouTube. I could tell this show had some legs. It’s very inferno like in that it started off as a skeleton and is continuing to grow throughout the season. Very different than crown’s approach from 2017-2022
  21. My 2nd place prediction not looking too bad 🙂 As the story gets clearer, the scores go up. Who’d have thought?
