  1. Is it just me, or does the first big hit in the ballad have a very similar chord progression to Bluecoats' version of Creep? I've noticed it three times -- once on the rehearsal vignette just before the dress rehearsal run through, once on the DCI webcast, and again on the bleacher POV just posted to youtube.
  2. I couldn't tell much visually, due to the rather low camera angle. I know virtually nothing about percussion (at least what sets apart "good" from "great"), so no comment there. Musically, I was entertained. And that's all that I really ask for. So, mission accomplished, AFAIC.
  3. Go for it mingus! I really appreciated the programs thread this year, and keeping up with the spotify playlist.
  4. So far I've read (in separate Crown threads) that the show seemed disjointed, and the show seemed to run together.
  5. So, will we need to sticky the uniforms thread next year right below the programs thread? With links to pictures as released by the corps, in place of the spotify links?
  6. So, I've got a question for anyone that saw the Madison '88 performance live at finals (as I have only seen it on video). What is it exactly that sets the crowd off into baby throwing mode at the end? Is it the screamin' soloist, the drill move, or just the culmination of the entire performance? Its hard to tell from the video, since the camera angle doesn't catch the drill move into the final push until right at the impact point. Roy
  7. If anyone has, I'm just curious -- does it still smell like Johnsonburg?
  8. Oh, yes, I understand that. I just thought it would have been cool if they were playing the PLC piece while doing the Pink Floyd drill move. Sort of a double meaning moment.
  9. From the 2013 programs thread, for Carolina Crown: Is this the music they were playing during the "prism" move?
  10. Absolutely this! I expected them to add this at finals. Close the book at the very last show, with a "The End" banner on the back cover.
  11. That sounds more like a DCI fantasy camp. Something for us way-beyond-ageouts who want to experience what its like to be a part of a WC corps, but never did have the skills/time/money/other/alloftheabove to participate. Hmmm...could DCI coordinate such a thing? Would there be enough staff members willing to participate? Or would it be easier for a single corps to try to replicate a one week "corps experience fantasy camp," rather than try to coordinate an "all-star" version? So, how much would one be willing to pay for such an experience?
  12. Why am I almost remembering a scene from "Porky's?"
  13. Nope, not the only one. Thought the same thing, and then felt "whew!"
  14. So, is there a trick to searching for shows that aren't on the "recently played" or "what's hot" lists? Say I wanted to add '91 Crossmen or '85 Empire Statesmen to my play list -- is there a way to filter out all the pop music search results and get into the drum corps stuff easier? I've tried the "artist" and "title" options, even the "t" time option. I've put corps names and show names in quotes, and still no luck. Anybody find the magic search?
  15. Good time as any to make my fist DCP post. My first show was the 1973 RCA Championships at Vet's Stadium in Erie, PA. I don't remember much about it, except the Pittsburgh Rockets were defending champs, and the crowd went absolutely bonkers when they announced the Erie Thunderbirds had won. I also seem to remember a couple corps' shows where a marcher passed out at the end and had to be taken to a ambulance that was just beyond the end zone.
