  1. Frankly, I would love to see Jason Bentley in the Visual Caption Head role. He has a wealth of knowledge, knows how to clean the crap outa something, and it could be a bit of a departure from the style of marching the Bluecoats currently have now.
  2. I was a contestant on America's Got Talent with my barbershop chorus, The Westmister Chorus. And even though we thought we had talent, because of the marketablilty of barbershop singing in America, we were let go after the second round. A mini corps would suffer the same fate as we did. And what's funny, is 2 months aftr the AGT taping, Westminster won the gold medal at the International Chorus Championships in Denver!
  3. It goes back to the old figure skating analogy. Do the figure skaters write their program for the judges or the audience? The judges. The figure skater performs the show for the judge AND the audience. At the end of the day, it's about competition and performance. The experience of drum corps happens because of the competition and the performance. But to answer your questions: Where do you put DC on the continum of Judging vs. fan appretiation? - MOST drum corps shows are programmed toward the judges. Who is its intended audiance, (judges or fans?) - IS? JUDGES. SHOULD? BOTH. Do you see anything wrong with this set up? - Not so much. What would you do to fix it? (Can it be fixed? Does it need to be fixed?) - Program mcuh more entertaining shows that are performed REAAAAAALLLLLLY Well. Just trying to get the pulse of those on DCP.
  4. I see horns. I see drums. I see guard. I see marching. Still drum and bugle corps. Just updated. Let's get rid od rifles.
  5. Then colorguard members will have to adapt and change faster. I'm all for getting rid of rifles and sabres. They serve no artistic purpose in shows minus they look cool going up in the air. But so could something else! And it's been done already by so many groups.
  6. So there is a performance clip and interview about The Velvet Knights and they picked one of the best parts of show! So, go check it out!
  7. I would love to see Academy. And Cadets, of course.
  8. If more drum corps shows were entertaining, then more people would come see them.
  9. Wow Mike! Thank you so very much for interviewing a Legend! And thank you Blue Devils for posting that on the Internet for all to see...even if he is a Cadet. For Holy Name Shall Always Be.
  10. I think they just wanted to make sure you were listening. And so it worked.
  11. But at least you were listening to the narration. Hook. Line. Sinker. (Narration works.)
  12. What was funny that the Blue Devils won with a dated mid 90's show.
  13. The Albuquerque Amigo's. 2008 Champions. Performing the music of Cheech and Chong.
  14. I loved the fact that brass players were able to control their breath enough to speak clearly and distinctly after running around for 3 minutes. The narration worked! It was a flawless program that was new, interesting, and entertaining. I'm glad to see Cadets stirring the pot again. Let's go back to that classic show, 1993 Star of Indiana. When they performed that show, people HATED it...but oh look, nearly everyone does some form of body movement now.
  15. Cadets, I am overwhelmed with your program, and your performance. THANK YOU from the bottom of my heart for renewing my faith in ENTERTAINING drum corps. You have set a new standard that will be hard to top in the coming years. Who cares what the judges say, YOU won the show, YOU won the hearts of thousands, YOU are what it means to be a Cadet. Congratuations again, Cadets. You make me proud.
  16. 1. Academy. 2. Crossmen 3. VK 4. Spartans 5. The Coachmen 6. Sky Ryders 7. 27 8. Boston Crusaders (because aren't they ALWAYS in 8th or 9th) 9. The Blousemen 10. The Albuquerque Amigos 11. The Westminster Chorus 12. The San Andreas Faults.
  17. I have to disagree. Cadets came out last night and gave the performance of their life! They were electric from the moment they walked through the tunnel. Blue Devils show lacked energy, fire, and spark. After watching both shows two nights in a row, The Cadets truly had the better program. Blue Devils program was dated, and not that entertaining. What the members DID on the field, was wonderful and I applaud them for a great performance, but the show was lackluster. And the hashes had nothing to do with Cadets losing the show.
  18. It has to be becuase of the rain in the Northwest...That's why the placement is so low.
  19. Folks....we're missing a very important corps who is going to get the loudest response... THE VELVET KNIGHTS!! DUH!!! Oh wait...####! Wrong Division! So, if I had to predict....The Academy! What a program! Then Cadets... Then Kingsmen Alumni!
