  1. For what its worth.... In 2003, per month, Blue Devils had 1- Full 3 day camp, 1- 2day mini camp, and one sunday rehearsal... Basically a rehearsal of some type 3 weeks out of the month. Camp attendance requirements obviously varied a little depending on where the member was from. From the looks of the schedule now, I see 1 full camp a month until the middle of may.
  2. 6 total 2002-2003 Revolution 2004 Santa Clara Vanguard 2005-2007 Blue Devils
  3. ok, I'll chime in here... The colts made a mistake, plain and simple. This doesnt really apply to the saints because they never played at an undefeated calibur (close calls with the dolphins, rams, 'skins). If you have an undefeated season in the making, you dont start taking off blocks during finals week, take your upperleads down an octave. You go full out during every block of every practice, everyday. When it comes down to any performance (your finals performance should be no different than your last performance in midland, tx...) you simply do what you do in practice every day. FWIW, the colts are gonna have a first round bye as it is, I highly doubt you want to take off anymore time than that.
  4. I was in the show, and i agree... I'd go with 2000 bd. I think the majority of dcp is always gonna be under 16ish to 22ish age group which means a lot of people havent seen shows past the last few years. Probably skews results just a tad.
  5. yea this will get skewed a lot towards the newer shows but its definitely 01 xmen. The closer alone was unreal. After seeing that show I really thought we were looking at the next new champion somewhere down the road but then 2003 came along...
  6. I thought it was funny that cavies housed with scouts during TOC, i bet thats not what they were looking forward too...
  7. nice video, that shot of gino conducting brought back some memories of playing in front of him on another team...
  8. yea, very few "rookies" come to corps like cavs, devs, or cadets without some sort of D2, lower tier D1 experience...
  9. They're most definitely not the same thing, I doubt anyone would argue that... You just dont have to get your panties in a bunch of somebody calls you a marching band. Heck when we went to Italy, I think we were a "marching show band" competing against other marching show bands lol.
  10. relax guys, its just band... haha I would tend to agree with her To me drumcorps (and coincidentally the reason I did it for 6 years) is all the stuff not on the football field. The trips, tours, bus rides, camps, free days and all the people that become friends in a way you really cant duplicate in a regular marching band (i.e. being next to the same people 24/7 for 3 months)
  11. Eh, i wouldnt blame them, but at least one can infer how that scenario inevitably exists and the possibilities of it affecting a judge who isnt 100% objective.
  12. Here's one... I marched in Corps A under instructor X who is also a BOA judge. I taught at H.S. Band B under director Y who is also a DCI judge. Judge Y tanks us at DCI Finals, Judge X tanks us at BOA grand nats the following fall. C Coincidence? Possibly... However I had an idea before each performance how the scores were gonna end up, and sure enough... I'm sure this happens more often than most realize.
  13. nope...(they were not undefeated), I'd have to check but I'm not even sure phantom beat vanguard at any point in the season...
  14. Yea, probably more common than you think, at least compared to high school. Like someone mentioned, more conducting, less ordering.
  15. Todd Ryan and his gang, went to BD in 94... and their technique was the official "look really bad ###" technique.
  16. here we go, a topic never discussed before...
  17. I couldnt say for sure if he is or isnt replacing anybody but Van Mathews did get the head gig at LD Bell which will take a good chunk of his summer so I wouldnt be surprised if thats why they brought in another brass staffer.
  18. well clearly, when the the it comes time for that extra week before finals, BD will take a couple free days, relax during rehearsals... and just let everyone else get better.
  19. haha, yea I read the thread. I just find the whole thing kinda funny sometimes. We walk around with a feather in our hat and take ourselves pretty seriously...
  20. yea, 96 was the first year bd won without a brass title
