  1. Cool. Is there one with a shako that looks like what the Cadets wear?
  2. Maybe they should borrow the Bluecoats or Phantom helmet.
  3. Because the uniforms they wear don't fit the show. It would be great to see Cadets ditch the old look completely for something fresh. I applaud them for taking a step and changing the colors and adding the stone look, but they could have gone all the way and ditched the shakos and military look of the jacket. Maybe this is one step towards it. Many I'm missing it, but I've never seen a statue of someone wearing a shako and plume. Put any of these uniforms on a WGI Percussion group and would look so out of place now a-days. At least in WGI, what they wear is an attempt to match the detail of the show, the floor, etc. There's no Music City Mystique Uniform or Rhythm X uniform so why is it different when it's outside during the summer? I've never heard anyone ever mention eye protection in all my years of marching. If it's a concern, every drum corps should wear their headgear during the day and definitely during late night ensemble for those extremely bright stadium lights.
  4. They still look like band uniforms with headgear. Someone needs to take off the hats that don't have any purpose and pick a new look every year that actually fits the show idea. Yes, similar to WGI.
  5. I had more time to google this afternoon and answer my own question. Looks like Joe joined the Glassmen staff in 2004. Kristy was caption head in 2011-2012.
  6. I agree 100%. I hope someone finally takes the risk and breaks the uniform mold this year. Maybe that will be Phantom?
  7. When that guard staff was at Glassmen, were those guards great at the end? I can't honestly remember. I think it was the last 2-3 years of the Corps' existence.
  8. I loved the front ensemble book last year. There was plenty of depth and difficulty.
  9. They posted on their Facebook about a new partnership with Meinl Percussion. http://meinlpercussion.com/products/ I wonder if that means it will be a big shift in musical style after the past two years.
  10. I hope it's a show that Channel3 will hate. I love the direction they've gone the past few years.
  11. Make sure the join the Pyware Users Group on Facebook. There's lot of other designers, writers, and the Pyware staff themselves that will quickly help or answer any question you have. It's a great resource. The Pyware developers definitely listen to the user base on what features to include next. Version 9 looks like it's going to be a great step up.
  12. They should keep the uniform for parades and concerts. It's about time for every corps to ditch the old style uniform and start wearing something that fits the show. Can you imagine any WGI drumline or guard in the last few years wearing a "band uniform" and not getting ripped apart? It wouldn't fit the shows at all. It's time to move on from the maroon and gold. Someone needs to take the step to actually have the guts to do it.
  13. Great, can't wait to see the new look. The maroon and gold just doesn't fit every program.
  14. I love the new Troopers look. I can't wait to see it on the field. Good for them for finally changes things up.
  15. As a staff member, I think it's great. Keeping the recaps from the public will avoid all the extra discussions on here and on the road about a caption under performing or not meeting expectations. For example, the first show happens, everyone sees a recap and then all of a sudden it's discussions on here, on other forums, on the busses of "Wow - did you see Corps X's percussion score?" I thought they were going to turn things around? Now when a drumline comes off the field some night after playing the best show they've had all season and feeling incredible, but then find out an hour later the drum judge dumped them, they won't all be ###### off, frustrated all night and at rehearsal the next morning. I've been with a corps where the members are talking about recaps every night and how the "Guard is pulling us down." It's not good. The same discussions happen on here and then turn into who should be fired and replaced during the season. The members talk about it. Yes, it shouldn't be an issue, but they're kids and they're competitive. Of course, the staff can share the details with the members, but it's one less piece of extra drama to not have to deal with unless you choose to put it into the mix. Great move by DCI.
  16. Maybe I missed the news and everyone already knows this, but it looks like Marc Sylvester is no longer on staff. He was listed under the Design Team a few weeks ago.
  17. I must have missed it in this thread. Which techs are splitting time at multiple corps?
