  1. Will Michael Boo also make a guest appearance here with the BSO or Pops?
  2. Will Pitts and design team have chosen quite the meaty source music of varied tempos and complexities to engage the audience, judges, and phans for 2016. David Warren returns for his fourth season as a Conductor, this year being his age-out. Like Moses with Joshua and Aaron holding his tired arms up, this season it's Josh Johnson and Carl Huang sharing the podium. Now to see what the Themers and viz staff build on this musical feast. :-) As Madison Scouts gave us the show title, and The Cadets gave us a hint of an opener, Regiment may be setting the World Class pace by citing the source music first.

  5. This should be amazing!!! https://www.bso.org/Performance/Detail/77918 My memories return to when now deceased Dave Welch, Cadet mellophone alum, was doing grad style summer study at Tanglewood with Leonard Bernstein back in the days the Cadets were playing music from Mass. Dave had lined up a private performance of the corps with the Maestro but bus and transportation problems cancelled the event. Thirty years later Cadets are finally getting there because of the great efforts of BAC and BD last summer. Can't wait.
  6. Good luck to all, especially those in Denton. Cold weather and floods are offering a hurdle in the area. If Regiment rose to the black outs, BAC will "Rise" as well to such challenges.
  7. As his "agent," I am now ready for other corps to begin the bidding for Screamer's services. He is a diligent, concise, and thoughtful poster ranked well musically. His visual talents should match the shows of several corps. You'll find him a MM of deliberate purpose and goals. Bidding will begin at 3000* to cover tour fees and possible transportation costs. Competitive challenges are anticipated for a great summer. *Well, it is World Class. Here's what Open Class does. https://www.facebook.com/346409099447/photos/a.359632079447.152993.346409099447/10153946367604448/?DB_OEM_ID=33500&type=3
  8. Again it is a matter of subjective opinion, taste, and past experience. Yes, getting 150 members within the 10 yardlines, or never going out past the 35/20 yardline markers or past the front hashes as we have recently seen with certain DCI shows is congested. But as so many of the DCI top drill designers also write for mega-size high school and/or college bands, 150 is quite small compared to, say, Michigan universities, Ohio universities, and the University of Massachusetts whose ensembles can at times be as many as 400. Perspective, perspective, perspective.
  9. How did we forget these words of wisdom? Thanks, David. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cu1F9QOoiWY
  10. Crown's being traditionally quiet again. Rumors abound about what new unis they will wear in 2016. This is probably not it. Then again, who knows...
  11. [edited from PR's announcement] The Phantom Regiment will have a small brass ensemble perform in Downtown Rockford this Sat. 11/28! There will be a small brass ensemble performing at 4:15p m at Memorial Hall and then again at 5:00 pm on the main stage located at State & Main streets for the pre-Christmas festival, "Merry and Bright/Stroll on State St."
  12. New add to Cadets visual staff: Jeff Young Visual Instructor, The Cadets The 2016 season will be Jeff Young's first summer as a member of The Cadets Visual Staff. Jeff is currently the Visual Caption Head for the 2005 and 2012 Bands of America Grand National Champion Carmel High School Marching Band in Carmel, Ind. He has been teaching since 1996 and has been involved with marching band and drum corps since 1988. Jeff’s pageantry experience comes from various areas including trumpet, gymnastics, dance, movement and design. He has been the Marching Band Track Division Head for the Bands of America Summer Symposium since 2009. In addition, Jeff has judged for Drum Corps International and Bands of America, and he designs drills and frequently teaches clinics on marching and movement. Jeff also holds a degree in Biology from the University of Notre Dame and a Masters degree in Curriculum & Instruction from Indiana University. Welcome!!
  13. hey Puck Daddy and GD, let's keep this a family friendly thread. Young 'uns are listening...
  14. Actually, the only sleep number the kids worry about would be the counts they repeat over and over in their heads reliving the day and dreaming of a great summer season.
  15. Texas two-step this weekend. Audition camp for guard and backfield conductors.
  16. Have a great camp and I hope the lights stay on for you.
  17. If you want to win DrumBattle, you have to have that fotch just so, Oomph! :-)

  19. Isn't the complaint of some: (they already did)??? Or were you just making a pun with a two way meaning?
  20. Recalling Teal Sound, Magic of Orlando and other Southern corps who were unable to climb out of financial holes. All the best to Spirit.
  21. As I read through your research I note that almost every comment made is before the DCI week where Cadets woefully wore the black and suffered in the captions because of the deadening of visual dynamics and general effect, meaning they got no boost conrary to anticipations. Tobias and George Dixon are not and have never been on the staff or faculty of either C1 or C2. It would reasonably be presumed that the admin of C2 would re-evaluate the effectiveness of such uniforms coming to their corps w/o tweeks. Your discussion is really a First World problem; others at Thanksgiving are more concerned with sufficient health and nutrition, roof overhead, peace, and safety. http://wtnh.com/2015/11/25/thousands-in-washington-to-spend-thanksgiving-in-dark-cold/ Have a nice one everybody.
  22. Nice announcement. To look at the schedule one would think the Kilts are re-joined DCI. (only kidding sez the one who was there at the Manning Bowl when the sprinkler heads popped up and...)
  23. Are you concluding that MikeD is no Jim Costello????? What, they are both from Joisey and MikeD is even a .............................MODERATOR!
  24. Not so much confused but presumptious. Nowhere has any Cadet official said that the black uniforms were being automatically adopted by C2 as identically worn by the Cadets, which as we know turned out to be a fail for visual intimacy. The Cadets, Cadets2, and admin. of both have made no official pronouncements about what either corps will be specifically wearing for Season 2016. Any speculating or imagining is presumptuous. Wait and see.
