Poppycock - I really respect this, as we know how you feel about Crown's show based on your previous comments. I am not a huge BD fan, but I give respect where due, so I for one really appreciate this. Anyhow, lets all enjoy some more DCI tonight, as West Coast battle should be epic!

Man I was almost spot on with my prediction on the spread (prediction .5 vs actual .45). I think Crown is still pretty dirty visually, but have a lot of content to clean. Anyhow, great job Crown Guard on grabbing their first win. BAC will be a much harder competitor (IMO) and I expect them to hold their ground. Since I was close on Bloo vs Crown, I will predict BD- 74.5 vs SCV 73.9.

What happened to my friends from the Cadets?

The Cavies show is really good, as i enjoyed it a lot. However, it's obvious the trumpets are currently the weak link in the brass. Overall brass is outstanding, but trumpets had more than a few intonation issues. I do believe their brass caption head will iron the issues out and they will me top notch by finals. I also think the show has lots of potential and GE. The only concern is the guard, as they seem to be missing that umph. Anyhow, I think they have a hard battle ahead with BAC and SCV, but should bring the heat.

Interesting hot take of the night after reviewing scores. J. Howell was the visual analysis judge in Detroit and Muncie and scored Crown over Bloo (14.7 vs 14.2). No clue who will judge this caption tomorrow, but IMHO it is possible for Crown to take Visual Analysis, Guard, Brass, Music, Percussion, and both GE captions. Do not be surprised if this happens. I do however expect Bloo to beat us in Visual Proficiency as they look cleaner than Crown at the moment in time. My guess is Crown will be at least .5 if not more over Bloo tomorrow. I think Bloo show is very strong but Brass/Music/Percussion is Crown by a healthy margin and I think our Guard is better also. Tomorrow should be interesting. We also have Cadets going against BAC and BD vs SCV rematch. I think SCV will have their closer out and will close the gap with BD to a similar margin with Crown over Bloo. Expect real trouble tomorrow night on this thread when scores are released 😎, as I believe Crown will kick aZZ on Saturday. Good Night everyone!

Cavies were good but trumpets need some work.

Phantom is loud in all the right ways, but when they fix the intonation issues they will be a more formidable competitor to Mandarins and possibly Cadets.

Sorry, for this harsh critique, but BAC show felt safe and underwhelmed me. I think I bought into the hype and expected more. With that said I am adjusting all expectations for the rest of the night. Anyhow Bac performed well so good job to the kids and staff.

The voice telling folks to download the app, soundtrack, and countdown stuff is all pre-show. None of that is judged and is just to get the audience hype. The show starts with drill during the Love in my Heart tune. Also, I heard BAC has some pre-show material so we might see a resurgence of it this year.

My request to everyone in this thread, can we please breath deeply and stay respectful? In my opinion, this show has gold potential and it saddens me that there is so much negativity in this thread. As of recent we had moved past that energy in this thread. Everyone is entitled to their opinion rather I love it or hate it. With respect to Crown's app, all I can share is that in my experience its pretty cool and takes nothing away from the show. Its a huge innovation and there will always be individuals who like or hate that. As a reminder, not everyone likes Apple products and they have been innovative. I used the app during rehearsal and loved it, but during the Saturday performance I didn't use it and the show still blew me away. -Carry on!😎
