  1. I played in the Hall of Fame Bowl with the coats in '82 🙂
  2. I don't care for the Beatles either, but I do think they had a huge impact on rock and pop. I also think they were very innovative and artistic, just didn't like their style much back in the day. I actually cringed when their show was announced before Detroit. Knowing their creative staff and that the Beatles had a lot of very good source music I remained optimistic. That being said, I was blown away at the theater opening night.
  3. Somebody give a link to her feed, I can't find her on periscope for some reason.
  4. I remember when Boston was small, 30 to 40 horn members small....and still made it deep into the top 25 with full corps not even making the top 25. I like seeing them compete at the top now. That being said, I don't think Boston's show designs are mature enough to compete for a championship at this point. Horns, drums, and guard are all top notch, no question, but their shows remind me of average BOA design.
  5. Bluecoats were 1.5 points behind SCV and slightly ahead of BD after the first week last year. BD had horn issues early but started cleaning up after a couple weeks. Same in '17, Bloo never scored ahead of SCV or BD. In fact, scores have been pretty accurate the last 4 or 5 years, regardless of region.
  6. I think your watching this show with west coast glasses, horn and percussion books are loaded. Drill is straight up BD with staging and guard is featured throughout the show. I'm no Beatles fan, in fact, after I saw the announcement vid I grumbled all the way to the theater....and was blown away!
  7. When I marched (early eighties) Bloo was an eastern corps, We would warm up in residential areas around stadiums and the residents would bring chairs and watch all the drum corps.
  8. Judging by what I've seen after 1 week (none live) I'd have to place the top 6..... 1 Bluecoats 2 Santa Clara 3 Blue Devils 4 Carolina 5 Cavaliers 6 Boston
  9. I've seen them all as well, SCV I will need a better feed to really get a take on it, and you are correct, Bloo's show is by far the best show of the year, followed by Crown.
  10. Wow, just got back from the theatre....just wow....and I don't even like the Beatles.
  11. On to college football now...........Go Mountaineers!!!!!!!!
  12. Hoping the rain holds off tonight in Winston Salem during RainBeat.....I mean NightBeat. That was for you Terri :) Also, would be nice to catch up with DrumManTX.
  13. Personally, I don't think the show is all that good, ballad is great, soloists are great, drumline is pretty good. There are really just a few groundbreaking shows since DCI started this scoring system. 1) 1983 Garfield Cadets 2) 1993 Star 3) Possibly Coats 2016, just because of the style shift. SCV is executing well and is in the drivers seat this season with a nice show.....enjoy :)
  14. BD used to be my favorite corps, they do little for me the last few years :/
  15. I'm not sold on the show either, great music and performance through the ballad, think Bloo takes it in aug.
  16. Yeah, I think SCV is good, just not the show design level that Bloo has going, they fix perc problems Bloo will be right there in aug.
  17. If bloo fixes the phasing between the pit and battery they will win, like SCV or BD or not.
