  1. Gosh no, the only three captions shared rule already made me want to participate less, this is just #### if you want to run more than one corps!!!!
  2. I didn't read the whole thread, but I really think that this is great news for the Crossmen. Mark Chambers is an amazing director (I have friends that went to Reagan HS) and his band is one of the top in the state of Texas, I have a lot of respect for their program. Drawing from the talent in Texas will be great, with some awesome schools in San Antonio and Austin, an hour away as well as some major universities (UNT, UH, UT Austin). I really think that this can only be good news for the Crossmen, seeing as they weren't exactly booming in the northeast, especially with the saturation of corps. Also, getting away from The Cadets can only help them. Oh, and I'm sure we can exepct some awesome show designs and music if the design team from Reagan moves over. Yes, they are a BOA band, but from a HS band perspective, they are definitely one of the most innovative HS bands out there with some AWESOME music. They aren't hard agressive jazz, more of a symphonic jazz sound, and they play all kinds of music. Good luck Crossmen!
  3. I will try to be back again this season with coldfusion at least (yes, I know wongbong was a popular one, but coldfusion has been around since season 1 with the exception of season 5). Only thing is that college has been taking up more of my time than expected, back in high school I'd have hours on end to devote to making my captions perfect, that's why in season 2 (i think) I had something like 3 of the top 5 corps or something =P I know I must have set a few records back then!
  4. I'm always partial to DKR in Austin at UT: Seats 80,000, Great view from the top in a ###### city. Also, the cotton bowl in dallas which seats 68,000 Also, seconding Reliant Stadium in Houston... Can you tell where my corps are from b**bs
  5. QFT! I jumped out of my seat and couldn't help but start yelling at San Antonio where they exited through the rear exit unexpectedly and then the circling trumpet player breaks up the Cymbal "V"!!!! It was awesome!
  6. This has been discussed extensively. It's either dress to the dot or dress to the form. Basically dressing to the dot puts the accountability on the individual, but dressing to the form is "smarter" since you try to make it look correct.
  7. Hm, the injury story seems like it could make sense... To be honest, it's not that "cool." It was actually distracting as you realize he's there and miss out on the show. I thought that parts of the perpetual motion were very obvious, but his part just seemed out of place.
  8. Noticed this at San Antonio last night, the random trumpet player just walking all the way around the field and then diagonally across, and at the end of the show breaking the cymbals' V? What's the deal? I have to say though, SCV's drill at the end of the show was absolutely brilliant, and then suprising us all with exiting through the back center entrance, that was EXCELLENT!
  9. My friends and I will be on the top deck at the Alamodome for tomorrow's show, and having watched an encore before from up there, it was pretty lame. What's the general rule or consensus for going down to the bottom, like will anyone hassle me about my tickets if i move down after the last show, and where should I stand so I'm not in anyone's way? Thanks! EDIT: Also, will the winning corps being doing an encore since this show is a regional, or is it still a pre-scheduled encore?
  10. I'm trying to plan out my day in San Antonio on saturday, and I wanted to catch Cavies and BD. I know BD is starting their rehearsal at 1pm, but would Cavies probably be starting earlier? Reason being, I wanted to get to the alamodome to catch the end of the morning show. Also, can I assume that the first hour or so of a rehearsal is just stretch and run. I ask because BD and SCV both have hourly schedules on their sites.
  11. So far Season Pass has been great, definitely worth the $40. One thing that REALLY bothers me though, and this has been happening since 03 is that when we get videos of corps, it's always the same portion (usually the beginning)....I think all the clips of Cavies so far are the same part! It can't be that difficult to show us the closer....Also, don't post a 2 minute backfield clip where there is virtually no playing except from the pit, most drum corps fans want to watch the clips of the in your face loud parts!
  12. From what I understand, Ticketmaster's site SUCKS! My friend (TealMello) wanted to get his tickets, and "best avaliable" were outside the 15s, so he actually called them, and the same thing came up, but then he said that there had to be something closer to the 50s, and sure enough they came up with closer seats. Moral is, try calling into ticketmaster.
  13. With Quest scoring a 25.85, does that go into the records as one of the lowest scores? What happened?

  15. As for the new concept of the corps sound, I am very saddened to see the old program somewhat going out the window. Ever since 2004, I've gotten the impression that the Cavies have been moving towards a more volume based approach. I really enjoyed their brass program through about 2002 when it was very based off the intonation and blend. I feel that their brass program was the only one that truly pushed the corps to sound like "the Notre Dame Organ" as someone I know once put it. Now I feel like it's very forced and not as enjoyable, it's not a Symphonic Orchestra approach. Oh well...
  16. Wow....just WOW! I was questioning Regiment based off their opener on the seasonpass clips, but now that I see this...WOAH! I absolutely LOVE the percussion in the last snippet, the it fits so well with the horn parts, not to mention how fast the tenors' hands are moving, it's pretty sick. How old is that tenor on the left end, he looks like he's barely 15!
  17. Just found this video on Youtube showing where to yell Vanguard in the 06 show. <link removed -KM>
