  1. I think it's time to sew up the flag and do another fly over!
  2. Tom is right...we are losing brothers far too often. I marched next to Roy in the Grey Knights. He always gave it his all and his dedication was unmatched. I fondly remember marching thru the puddles at our practice site at Charlotte Beach Park. I hate to say goodbye to another good friend.
  3. "Fuzzy" will certainly be missed. Not just because of his drumming but the wonderful person he was. Tom was one of the few people I've met in Drum Corps that could comfortably sleep in the luggage rack of a bus. We'll all miss his smiling face.
  4. '66 was indeed an interesting year for us. Many of the older veterans left after winning the title in'65. Our first show of the year was on the east coast somewhere (I just got on the bus and started playing when I got off). The Cabs beat us by 14 points at that show. We worked and almost completely changed our show over the next few months and somehow beat the Cabs in Lewisburg PA the weekend before the AL Nationals. I've won more than enough championships over the years either marching or instructing but I must say that year and that corps has to be one of my best memories. We never gave up. Wink
  5. Boy I don't know, there's been a bunch of great moments that I've witnessed... 1966 AL Nationals, Washington DC: 30K druken Legionaires went wild at the end of the Hurcs color pre. 1994 DCA Finals, Scranton PA: Standing on the hill in back of the stadium waiting to go on. The crowd was throwing babies at the Cabs! 1997 Most Places: Brigs encore...Space Chords. They loved it! 2005 Most Places: Bucs Adagio...just a wall of sound! 1980 thru present Everywhere: Blousemen's entire show I'm sure there's lots more but too many after show "Golden Anniversary Ices" burned out the memory a little... Wink
  6. Except for 1966! That was one wild retreat!!! Drum sticks being thrown at the American Legion National Commander...Genero throwing the Hurcs second place trophy at the Crusader drumline...The Yankee Rebels facing the far corner of the stadium playing "Dixie" making the crowd go wild...Skyliners and the Hurcs blocking the exit from the field...Cabs and Crusaders joining ranks to march off the field...Police everywhere! There wasn't any trouble the next week in Bridgeport for the DCA Finals. They kept the corps away from each other and had police between the corps on retreat. The Air Force D & B corps exhibition was fantastic!! Some people think those were the "golden days" of drum corps. I think the "golden days" were whenever you marched! 40+ years in drum corps has left me with some wonderful and exciting memories. Wink
  7. Well, I too saw your birthday greeting first on the OT site but January birthday's are big in the Blousemen world. There's Elvis, Richard Nixon, Me You and strangely enough the entire Mububola family. Ray was kinda on the right track... The Blousemen were considering doing a WGA winter guard this year. I was planning to do the design and instruction ( our show was going to be "A night at Octoberfest") . WGA ruled against our performing at their regional competitions because we have a 250 person performance group. Maybe it was the open beer taps... well whatever!
  8. The Blousemen will be flying in from their Middle East practice site and are due to arrive at the Wampsville International Aerodrome early Friday morning. The J. Bernie Bus Company has graciously agreed to repaint their busses in the traditional Blousemen colors of Brown, Brown and (of course) Brown. (Not to be confused with the Warren Cornplanter colors.) We have contacted the Genesee Brewing Company, our sponsor, about our concern with running out of their beer that was named after the Blousemen's hornline, Honey Brown. They've assured us that Honey Brown will be in ample supply for the corps and our fans and supporters. So it all looks like it's a go!
  9. The Blousemen originally planned to stay in Toronto but the demise of the "fast ferry" has forced us to alter our plans. Blouse will now be enjoying the ambience and local color of beautiful downtown Wampsville NY. Stop by and visit us! The 85 degree rule will be in effect at all practices. Beer below 85 and Gin and Tonics above that mark. Wink
  10. They grew back! ####...I've got more hair on my eyebrows now than I have on my head! Let's go over to the Swedish/Italian Club and down a few Pripps Blas.
  11. Some may consider parades a pain in the butt but parades accomplish three things... Money!, a chance to spend an hour or so with your friends and lastly, it's really a sectional rehersal. It doesn't matter if you play tunes from your field show or tunes specifically for parades, it's a chance to play next to other members of your section. Parades are pretty good for the chops too!
  12. The Blosburg Pa show is sponsored by the Blousemen Wink b**bs
  13. Hey DA, From my observation of the '91 David Hughes practice event...I think the Girdanelli brass mouthpiece can be thrown the greatest distance. It's also the harest to find in the grass too! Wink
  14. In my opinion...'96 Cabs. No offense to Westshore but the Cabs were on fire that night. Not to start a war or anything but I still feel that was a case of some judges on a panel doing one tenth ranking and one caption judge making a spread between corps. S**t happens. We must all remember that drum corps is the judges hobby too! One time Mabubola almost beat Blouse. They were pretty good too! Wink
  15. Sorry, it was Bush that was penalized and I just heard that it was for trooping the stands after their performance. You're right Ray! There's even an award for Best Contra line! So why isn't there an award for "Best Third Baritone Section"???

  17. I just want to know what time we should start looking for scores? Retreat can be a lenghty affair. The Class A corps will probably have to wait five or six hours to find out their results!
  18. Well Dave...you've finally made it to the old drum corps guys club! I see that there's a problem with the DCA site and we'll have the complete scores in the morning. So let's do what we probably would have been doing if we were there. "It's your turn to get another round of cool ones from the fridge!"
  19. :( Anyone know what has happened to the scores page? It's been a long time since the last update... b**bs
