  1. I would assume that DCI had already signed all the papers with a backup stadium in place. So DCI would have to break all thier contracts for this one year. Breaking contracts, not a good thing.
  2. I had an army cot in the 2 week tour before finals in '82.
  3. Agreed, worked well in the past. Yeah many knew the music by April from Drum Corps World, but for the most part, we waited until we saw the first show.
  4. Ahhh, the good old days. Kids have it easy this day.
  5. But for a very short time because there is nothing to support the "concept". To me it's big whoppie, they have a fancy show name that doesn't say anything about the show and interest is lost quickly. No need to follow up on it. The only reason that PR's "Spartcus" got a lot of time was because they did it in the past and we were contemplating if they were going to have a 2008 version of their '81-'82 show or go with non-related music, like they did with the Faust show. As far I we know, GMen could be doing circus music. A title without a follow through equates to nothing.
  6. I don't remember Grizzly Adams being part of the story. And where's Gentle Ben?
  7. Is anyone going to create and pin a 2008 DCA repertoire listing? To date except what I've read here I don't know who's playing what. Couldn't us DCAer be less informed?
  8. This has been told to me plenty of times and I think it's appropriate now.....Dave, don't quit your day job.
  9. I feel so stoopid now. (have fun this summer no matter what place you come in)
  10. Yeah, I can see that trophy in Madison's hands now. ( )
  11. Is the music any good? (I ask because I've never played Halo).
  12. Did their check to the DCI Judges retirement fund clear yet? You forgot, Madison was in Europe in '88. Unless they want to repeat this, they better plan to go. This is the only factor you forgot that could harm them.
  13. It's still early. We're only on page 5. But we know George is somehow behind this.
  14. That would be true IF it was happening. Corps are run by money and, in the majority of cases, white do have more money. I guess what we see if financial discrimination. Plus it probably gave Georgie a warm feeling inside when he made these statements yet continues to raise fees. Cavies and Scouts are traditions, that yes, are discriminatory. But to date not one female has gone through the trouble to sue either of them. So unless you're one to just wants to cause problems, just let it lie. It's not worth the trouble.
  15. Username (You DCP-I registered name, not your DCP name):Osky Director Corps Name: Oakland Skylarks Corps Division: Division 1 (none of this World Division crap) Corps Location: Warren, MI
  16. Yes, and they want more money. (someone else saw the SouthPark episode?)
  17. It's the new fad, spell the show name incorrectly so they sound like they are on the cutting edge just to make up for a bad program.
  18. I heard Nimrod (pre-cursor of Hopkins) thought he was in charge of it all. Kind of like the VFW/AL days.
  19. The one process that hasn't changed over the years.
  20. I think you got your shows mixed up. The Golden Calf was won before the Exodus Tour. Remember? Moses went up Mt. Sinai for a meeting with the executive director. You thought an hour with your boss was long, this meeting lasted 40 days. Anyways, the members of the corps were complaining about not having a show for since the Seven Plagues show in Egypt. So Aaron decided that they will enter the Pagan Pagent that was on the other side of Mt. Sinai. BTW, Moses was dead against participating in this show, something about how they weren't ready. The corps entered and won the Golden Calf. When Moses Onhigh (his last name) heard about this, he literally threw the new rules book at the corps.
